Thread seems to have picked up the wrong Merchant, but it's in-store anyway.

£50 wow.. Might finally get a Wii! Just kidding I rather spend it on some xbox games

I haven't played my Wii for about 18 months after I finally bought a PS3. Should probably flog mine too.

Pity really because the last year has seen over a dozen of truly excellent releases on the Nintendo Wii. Most of them were by Nintendo, but there were some very good third party releases as well.

Buying a ps3 or 360 now seems a bit silly to me.
It's basically everything you can get on a pc, but then without the 1080p (or more) graphics, without the high resolution textures, without the higher quality shaders, without the well rendered shadows, without the proper anti-aliasing, without the smooth framerate, without the better lighting and with either paid or not fully working online play.
All that for a higher price per game of about 10+ bucks per game, which means you probably save the extra money you have to invest in your pc in just a few months.

Of course the Wii doesn't have everything I just mentioned either, but at least it has some truly unique games for both hardcore and casual audiences that you cannot find elsewhere.

Hot for me.

Could you name them for me? Struggling to find anything worthwhile to play on the wii, guess the new super mario bros is one of them.....

Voted hot btw, almost worth it for (original) wii sports, quite why they didn't update the tennis in the sequel is beyond me (table tennis was ok mind....)

Zelda is a good game

Heat added. Got a Wii already for my son (OK, so I use it too quite often) but will pick one up for my nephew at that price - he'll be well chuffed.

probably

Has this been confirmed in press or poster?

Like so many people who claim to be "hardcore gamers" don't know, the Wii has so many amazing games, I wouldn't dream of getting rid of mine till they bring out something new with backwards-compatability.

Do you know how much cheese i could buy with that??

May get one, really just want Grand Slam Tennis.

Prepare to be massively disappointed. It's awful.

Is there a press release from Nintendo about this official price drop? I can't find anything but rumours online.

I was tempted to get this: http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Wii/Black-Wii-Console-with-Wii-Remote-Plus/~r352943/ because then you have a new console, in black to match the Xbox and it has the 'motion plus' remote so no faffing with extra clip-on bits. Not bad for £100. Do we think that will get cheaper tomorrow too?

Wii served its purpose at the time - my parents loved it, as did the young uns and it made the odd family gathering not so boring, the novelty of an inaccurate controller tacked onto a gamecube (which was a great console by the way) was never going to fool the world forever. Its a shame Nintenso sint spend more time highlighting its non family orientated games, but alas these few and far between gems will have to wait until Nintendo re-release them on the next console along with its entire back catelogue, as it seem to have got very good at doing that.

As to 'Talicus' comment about the xbox 360 and Ps3 - as a former pc builder for years who is educated in such jargon as ' unified shaders and anti-alising etc etc'... yes a £500+ pc does play multi platform games better (assuming correctly ported over to PC platform which many are not since pc isnt the lead platform for games a tthe moment anymore) and I wont attempt to list out the cosole specific games your have to just miss out on since wont be released on pc at all, but the pc is a lonely man experience isnt it, few gaming rigs are in the living room connected to the main television, they are in the spare room / study or a young probably single mans bedroom and although Steam is a great service, its nothing compared to the ease of online gaming provided by Xbox live. The Ps3 acts as a fantastic media server / blu ray player and gaming device for what £200?? the xbox is cheaper than that nowdays. Remember these machines came out around 2005 (at least is based on tech from that time) show me a pc based on 2005 tech that can run games as well as these machines do?

Higher price for games - you need to check out hotukdeals more often I havent paid over £30 for a game in along time. You can play battlefield 3 on your pc and gloat about how great it looks and how smooth it runs assuming your drivers are up to date and you dont have any cpu heavy background programs running, but as is the sitiation with pc gaming within weeks of being online the servers will be full of players with modifed and hacked games running aim bots and other cheats or the game will be so full of elite players theres no fun to be had anymore. Nah i will stick to console gaming as my recreation of choice - and use a pc as my tool for work and internet browsing.

Completely unconfirmed deal which Gamestation denied when I spoke to them just now, but it has 444 degrees heat? Great deal if it turns out to be true, but it's ridiculous that this is allowed without any shred of proof whatsoever.

^ Word up. Where is the proof that this deal is true?

Game are now also denying this is happening, yet this thread remains and continues to get heat.

Cheap! But the games really are garbage, 360 gaming for me at the moment! Wii hasnt been used for months! But if the new pokemon game is released over here.....

Went into game and chatted to the manager. He said that the prices are set to go down tomorrow but that the white one preowned is NOT set to go down at all. The new ones are getting cheaper but as far as he is concerned the preowned ones will stay the same.

If you really want a Wii then this looks like a very good deal, same price as getting a pre-owned one from the store: http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Wii/Black-%20Wii-Console-with-Wii-Remote-Plus/~r352943/

I will probably get a 2nd hand one when they become really dirt cheap like gamecubes did because all I want it for is iPlayer on the TV.

vaguest post ever. any rhyme or reason to this "deal" at all?

Nope, but instead of doing anything about it until there's any confirmation that this deal remotely exists, they feature it in the Bitterwallet Deals of the Day.

about £20 too much.
i can wait, im only interested in 1 wii game.
no vote.

Twas on IGN not long ago.

Worth it just to throw a load of downloaded games on from the torrent sites

Hmm... wonder if I should try to grab one of these rather than spend £20 on a new controller alone....
