Same price at ASDA.

Yeah I know, the Amazon deal is popular too tho. Thought I would share so people who prefer Amazon can order with them for the same price.
Good price compared to the rest of the market - but this will only fall further and quickly, unless you really wanted one now..i'd wait - bet its down to £100 by the end of the summer...

If I were to buy one I would much rather get it from Amazon than Asda, so its worth posting

Oh oh, I'll take that bet!!!! How much is on the table.
I think this is the lowest its going to get. So tempted, especially after having seen videos of pikmin, Mario kart 8 and star wars pinball.

Do you base this on the fact that wii u sales are massively behind what was expect and Nintendo are struggling with the marketing or the fact that ps4 and Xbox one will be out towards the end of the year for it to compete with?

Or maybe you've based this on no facts at all.
If all I want to do is save on the HDD, do I still need to get another HDD? (no interest in buying digital games if I will lose them if I ever sell or lose the system)
Do all external HDD's work (2,5 inch or 3,5 inch, amount of space)?
Does the HDD has to be completely dedicated to the Wii U or can I also store other things on it?
Well worth it. Just bought one from asda. Awesome price and cheaper than 3DS XL.
The original Wii was £189 for 3 years after it came out. The ps3 has had no games to tempt me until The Last of Us came out, still not biting for one game. The Wii u has lots of fun games, can I just say "FUN" again. Not after realism as that is boring. There forthcoming games on the Wii u make it a worthwhile purchase. Xbox 1 and ps4 are too expensive, they are PC architecture based machines therefore I prefer to just use a PC instead.

Not sure about HDD but I just bought a cheap 32GB SD card and use that. If your not downloading games then you don't need loads of storage space. 32GB will be plenty

Just in case you didn't know, the SD card slot is only used for Wii Mode, so to use it to expand the Wii U's storage you will neec to plug it into a USB reader and plug it into a USB slot on the Wii U.

Also Nintendo don't recommend USB pen/thumb drives or SD cards as aWii U storage solution because they're not designed for a high number of read/write requests. But, if it did pack in you can easily re-download your eShop games onto a new drive (pref a USB HDD solution)

If you want to download demos or other stuff, then some extra storage is a must. I have a 16Gb USb drive plugged in, which should be enough for the low amount of storage I need.

If you want to go bigger, then the recommendation is for an external HDD with a seperate power source (sich as a 3.5" ext. drive). 2.5" external "self-powered" drives work, but may require a y-cable to connect into both USB ports (so it can draw enough power).

Size-wise, anything up to 3Tb will work. the drive is dedicated to the WiiU though, so can't storage anything else outside of the WiiU and you cannot connect it to a PC to copy stuff on/off.

I use my 1TB portable HDD on my Wii-U 32GB! Lots of space, its great you can use any portable HDD just by plugging in the USB and formatting it! If you are unsure trust me its worth the money, more great games are due to come out this year and even more are scheduled for next year! I paid full price when it first came out and I have had no regrets, was unsure at first and then when I started to play the Wii-U I was happy!

Exclusives are what you really pickup a system for.
That's why I'll be forking out £430 for the One & maybe keep my £335 preorder for the PS4.
Would have loved to stick to the PC (Glorious PC Master Race), but Forza 5 & Dead Rising 3 are too much to pass up.

Because it is selling worse than GameCube and Dreamcast which both received substantial price drops. Nintendo might like to act like they're not in competition with Sony or Microsoft but the other systems will have to force a price drop or retailers will dedicate shelf space to the new powerful machines.

Read the article before, it is known Wii U's sales figures have not been great (possible due to lack of titles) but this is changing with Pikmin 3 at the end of this week, Zelda HD, Mario Kart, Wonderfful 101 etc etc. No-where does it even hint at a price cut for the Wii U, so....as stated earlier based on no information

this is from the article:-

Of course, the Wii U has its own set of Nintendo software coming in the months ahead, beginning with Pikmin 3 this month, The Wonderful 101 in August, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD in October, and Super Mario 3D World by the end of the year. Hopefully a raft of quality Nintendo software will increase the perceived value of the Wii U and justify its price to consumers ready for a new console.

Do you own a Wii-U or not? You can't post that comment above if you have not played it!

The Wii-U sales will continue to strengthen, especially with the new low prices for the Wii-U 8GB and 32GB models, some top games coming out this year and next will only further improve sales too.

I own a 360/PS3 and Wii-U so I don't have any fanboy attitudes and I do not troll games machines, even If I don't like them. Each console has good things and bad things about it, I was dubious about the Wii-U when I first purchased it. Its fair to say I have really enjoyed playing it since I first got it, excited for the great titles coming up that you can only play on Wii-U! The Gamepad integration is great also with many games

They had Mario and a Lego game. No lack of titles. Just constant goal post shifting. There's always an explanation for Nintendo's failure but it never excuses it. Oh and I already played that Zelda game before. Don't think I'll buy that unless it's £15.

Jealousy is such a tacky trait.

We should all hold a whip round for this poor waif... he only needs another 50 quid to adopt a Wii U and give a home to the underpowered waste of space... probably fit right in with you then!
Bought one earlier this week. Loving it! The interface is nice, Miiverse is cool and though there is a shortage of games, there's enough good quality ones to be sure that Nintendo haven't quite lost their touch. The year will only get better for the Wii U. To me, £150 is a sound investment for a console that will only get better in time. If you want to wait for it to get lower, by all means do so, but I personally don't see it dropping further. Right now it's less than half the price of a PS4. I don't think they could take it further even if they wanted to.

I bought mine from Amazon, and the only thing I can say to be weary of is that they sent it with City Sprint. This courier gets terrible reviews, and I was lucky to receive mine at 5pm.

It's the fact it's been a massive commercial flop that makes me think it will be £100 before long. The original Wii did very well and maintained it's high price as it was insanely popular and one of the fastest selling consoles of all time - appealed to the entire market in one way or another, and was groundbreaking in bringing motion gaming to the masses.

The Wii U has none of this - nothing revolutionary, very expensive, limited game portfolio with 3rd party games being cancelled every day..it just hasn't had the success of the Wii, and it's really tough to imagine how Nintendo can recover this one without the AAA 3rd party titles.

I will buy one just for Mario Kart, and if they make a good more gritty, ocarina of time style Zelda (none of this cutesy cell shaded stuff, just isn't the same)..but otherwise? Just can't see the point, especially with some next gen consoles on the horizon.

Maybe I am a bit ambitious with £100 by summer, but by the end of the year? Definitely. That doesn't mean you should wait if you want one, if you want one just buy one now its not a bad price considering it's launch was £250..but for the vast majority of us who are more of the opinion "yeah its interesting but nothing special", it needs to drop more into impulse buy territory.
Getting sick of those idiots posting rubbish.
The Wii u is a good console with lots of potential.
It already has some good games having only been on the market for over 6 months.
It more powerful than the 360 and ps3, and a million times easier than the ps3 to develop for.
Knock this and you should be knocking the ps3!
Nintendo make great games, if you don't appreciate them, stop your bickering and go trolling elsewhere.
If I pass an exam in a weeks time, I'm buying a Wii u as a reward.
Don`t have and probably won`t pick one of these up but I would`nt knock it. It looks like some good FUN games are coming to the Wii U now and games like this and Mario Kart can only help.

It is relatively cheap now too - it just had AWFUL marketing and was not a concept that was especially needed at this time with the prevalence of tablets e.t.c but it is not a bad idea. In fact, Xbox and Playstation are doing similar things with Remote Play and Smartglass.

Basically, a poor strategy from Nintendo not necessarily a poor console (though I have never played one so can only guess!)

Comparing a current gen console (and its sparse library of games) with a previous gen console with an enormous and established catalogue?

I think *you're* the one trolling here.

Underpowered what a load of tosh runs sweet, cant play black ops 2 together online at the same time with Xbox or ps you can on wiiu
Will inevitably fall further.

Nintendo have made massive mistakes this gen. Games tied to console rather than profiles, little to no third party support, cheaped out on specs - more Xbox 360 than Xbox One, and the tablet has range issues, battery issues, and is unresponsive with a resistive touchscreen display.

The first party games will be awesome, but even they're not there yet.
If the premium ever hits this price, there's going to be a heatwave.

eurogamer.net/art…off

As a wii u owner myself and without a stupid fanboy mentality its clear to say that the wii u is not particularly powerful. It seems the gpu is a bit stronger than current gen but the cpu is clearly weaker (especially when you consider the gpu helps with some cpu tasks). Most games are a bit weaker on wii u compared to 360 and PS3 versions unless its the type of game that has low cpu requirements. If your looking for a console that competes with ps4 and xbox one the wii u isn't it. Wii u is really about first party games. Its an excellent console but it only performs to current gen levels overall just like the wii was only in the same ballpark area as the original xbox despite being launched with 360 and PS3.

The ps3 and 360 have as much right to be compared to ps4/xbone as wii u. Many wii u games are missing important features or running at reduced resolution or other graphic issues. Thats just the reality of the situation.

Still a great bargain for £149 though but I just feel its important people realise the wii u is current gen performance overall.

The Wii-U IS more powerful than a 360/PS3 FACT!

m.uk.ign.com/wik…ecs

However it will not be as powerful as the PS4/Xbox One, read the article above!

Its not always about power/graphics, its about quality of game! Nintendo certainly know how to make great and memorable games, yeah some of them may not be cutting edge graphical masterpieces but the GAMEPLAY and fun/enjoyment factor Nintendo certainly know how to make some of the best games on the market. In my opinion a key part of a game is how it plays and how fun/enjoyable the experience is, Nintendo usually nail these key aspects!

Look at a few of the 'next gen' games, COD Ghosts for example... they were going on about the graphics and how real things look, well to me it means nothing unless the gameplay is up to scratch! Dunno about some of you guys/girls but I get fed up of some of the big gaming series like COD! Recently just about ALL of the COD games have a copy/paste style that is just shameful cash cow money generating, can't they actually bring new things to a game or work on new gameplay aspects instead of the same garbage over and over? Thats my real worry about next gen gaming, how much are these games really going to give gamers a true next gen experience that is not just based on graphics! Don't get me wrong if a game can nail graphics and gameplay then great, these games are rare tho!

Rant over!
