Nintendo's Wii U is a new console that includes a controller with a 6.2-inch screen. Adding a second screen to the living room creates a multitude of new video game experiences while offering families a variety of options to customize their entertainment.
Previously, video games played on a home console have been confined to the TV and offered identical viewpoints to each player in a multiplayer environment. Furthermore, watching TV and playing console games have been completely separate experiences. The new controller removes these boundaries, creating a more dynamic and fluid gaming and entertainment experience. The type of gaming experiences made possible by Wii U and the new controller include:
In single-player games:
The new controller can display information on its screen that does not appear on the TV.
The information and viewpoint can also change in the new controller based on the orientation of its gyroscope.
In multiplayer games:
The player using the new controller can have a different experience than those looking at the TV. This will offer a wide variety of competitive and cooperative opportunities
In addition to the 6.2-inch screen, the new controller also features an accelerometer and a gyroscope, a rumble feature, an inward-facing camera, a microphone and speakers. Adding these features to the Classic Controller button scheme; two analog Circle Pads, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons - will enable a breadth of game-play experiences while appealing to both casual and dedicated video game players.
Wii U combines motion-sensing game play with the ability to support full HD graphics. Each Wii U console will be partnered with a new controller and can also use up to four additional Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus controllers. The system is also backward compatible and can play all Wii games and use all Wii accessories. The Wii console has sold more than 86 million units globally and greatly expanded the overall audience for video games. Wii U aims to expand that audience even further. Developers worldwide are already working on new games and experiences for the console.

I am tempted though. The price has been slightly cheaper with a code but the PS4 for some reason didn't do it for me so i have gone back to PC gaming for the cheap games but this would seem like a casual gaming system especially at this price.

TBH atm the Wii U has some of the best exclusives, providing you know the score with Nintendo games, my son has a PS4 and i've not seen one game i'd say I have to play, whereas theres plenty for the Wii U.

Pikmin 3, Dk Tropical freeze, Lego City Undercover,ZombiU, Wonderful 101, MK8, Yoshis Wooly World, Splatoon, Captain Toad, Mario World, Mario Maker.

I'd of thought you'd of had a Wii U long ago with the ammount of deals you post.

I was always for the bigger games. I bought the PS4 and i just felt like i was still playing the same stuff. I think going to Nintendo will give me a new range.

By bigger games i mean Rockstar, variety with racing games etc.

I returned to Nintendo recently after having both microsoft and sony consoles because I think they're going stale. Both carry some great games but Nintendo have the variety and they turn out quality over quantity. It'd been a great couple of years catching up the back catalogue too!

Only problem with those games, and I'm a WiiU owner as well, is after you've clocked them...then what? There's just not enough in the pipeline. I may get Starfox, depending on reviews, but that's it really until Zelda, for me anyway. Still heat added for a great price a good console, with issues.
added its the 8gb model ... might want to amend the main heading
The best console by a mile !
Tempted, my son wants one for Christmas, do I wait to see if they go cheaper?
Sub 100 for the non-basic and a game, and I might bite.

That's significantly more exclusives than either of the current gen consoles, some of them are rehashes but with new content/gameplay

Looking at the current lineup, ATM the Wii U leads the way in exclusives IMO anyway.

I'm the same i have a PS4 and a Wii U , I've become bored of the PS4 and not renewed PS+ in months i don't want to pay close to £40 a year for a system im not to bothered about the current selection of games and then the games they have been giving away of late arent of any interest to me either Xbox live is regularly -£20 and better online setup !

The Wii U in the last month i've got myself Captain Toad, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker and Bayonetta 2 thats more games than ive got on the PS4 in the last year oO

No argument there, I'm just saying what do you play after that? It's a shame...Still maybe they will pull something out of the bag.

I get your point, my Wii U is my main console and i've took my time with it, so i've still got a fair bit to play through, for anything else I goto my PC.

I'd prefer Nintendo and whoever else to produce quality over quantity, If it means we may wait a while so be it.

The Wii U looks to have the better exclusive line up in this quarter too.

You sir have too much time on your hands

If only that were true...
After the disappointing E3, the announcement of the NX and now the fact Nintendo have no more games for the Wii U until Spring 2016.... why are people buying this turd?

All that's gonna happen is the NX comes out fall of 2016, Zelda Wii U gets turned into an NX title like what they did for Twilight Princess and all the main Wii U games get ported over.

You miserable sod
Conversely; why would you spend £200+ on Xbox or PlayStation , just to be antisocial , on your own every weekend and night . playing hero

Nintendo are a godsend to gaming, when it comes to social , unadulterated fun gaming. We had a whale of a time on the Wii for all the family, Even got gran up on her feet. Same can't be said about the other the other lonely consoles

It is sad to see many parents sitting youngsters in front of ps3/Xbox consoles, often becoming isolated and alone. Nintendo on the other hand.....

The Wii U has no games and it's dead, get over it.
They also have the Premium with Splatoon for £232.85 and you get The Wonderful 101 for free. Not a bad deal.
Is this a good console? I've had all the previous Nintendo consoles but haven't heard many people say they have this, my son bought the xbox 360 last week with his birthday money and there are no games I would want to play on it but with my old Nintendos I loved all the Mario games etc.... wondering should I get this for my daughters for Christmas

The Wii U is great if you like Nintendo games but some people like to attack it because it doesn't have a massive range of games outside of Nintendo's own titles - in fact the main criticism of the Wii U is the lack of 3rd party support so there isn't much in the way of the kinds of titles you might expect to get for the playstation or xbox (for example, there are 2 Assassin's Creed games & 1 FIFA game - you can decide whether that's a good or bad thing).

However, if you like (or possibly love) Nintendo's style of games then pretty much every game Nintendo have released for the Wii U has something to like & they all have lovely shiny HD Nintendo graphics! So the Wii U has updated HD iterations of Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Smash Bros & Donkey Kong plus new titles such as Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker & Splatoon. There are also a few games less suitable for kids such as Bayonetta 2 & Wonderful 101.

Still to come are new Star Fox & Zelda games (coming out next year) - although admittedly there isn't a hell of a lot of other games due to be released in the coming months & Star Fox & Zelda may actually turn out to be among the last games scheduled for release on the Wii U.

One final point is the Wii U is also backwards compatible with all Wii games.

TL:DR Wii U is great if you like Nintendo games!
