This was cheaper earlier in the year (I know cause I got one for £16) but as of now, £18 seems to be the lowest price to get the High Capacity Battery for the Wii U GamePad (the original only lasts for like 3 hours).

Nintendo should have used these battery's in the first place, rather then jumping on the whole gaming ' rip everyone off with extras' bandwagon......... conniving little b*stards!

Decent price though..... have some heat!

I honestly wish I could justify additions like this, It's not an issue for me personally because my gamepad is generally played from a position close to a socket. But, for Nintendo to start asking £20 for a product that should have initially come already inserted into the product at launch seems a tad cheeky. Yes, we can all argue that it would have increased pricing of the actual Wii U console as a whole, but for a product that hasn't really budged in price for the past 3 years, it's not the most unrealistic addition to ask for, is it?

The new bundles should come with this battery but sadly they don't. Nintendo still doesn't get with the times.

I duno, ive almost been tempted into buying one of these months ago, but battery life isnt that much of a crisis for me. But I cant fully justify getting one myself, if battery life really became a huge issue for me (it hasnt yet) then i'd rather purchase a £5 2/3M usb extention from amazon and just have the gamepad charging as I play on the sofa.

Still, its a good price for people who will want it, heat from me

Nintendo has nothing on Microsoft. Over £30 for a headset adapter and play and charge kit (if your lucky)

It's unfortunate really, I jumped onto the Wii U wagon a tad too late, not late enough to appreciate the games they have produced, but possibly too late to help with sales for the Nintendo Wii U. I have now gone from branding Nintendo as a kiddy console to stating that a gamer isn't a gamer with a soul unless they own a Nintendo Wii U. Yeah we can all have our Xbox One's with CoD or our Playstation 4's with Bloodborne, but you haven't actually felt the passion of a game until you have played a Nintendo title, yes, I'm looking at you Yoshi's Woolly World and Splatoon

I think Nintendo do get with the times, I just think it's unfortunate that we seem to have moved from the family game time experience to graphics over gameplay.

Even Xbox's Phil Spencer appreciates Nintendo's input to gaming.

In fairness, the actual Nintendo Gamepad power adaptor is sufficient enough to cover half a rooms length, it's not a short power supply.

That's the power that each have.

Original - 1500 mAh (3h-ish)
High Capacity - 2550 mAh (8h-ish)

I'm very satisfied that I got the High Capacity Battery since it lasts considerably longer. It should anyway. lol

I blame weak minded sheep people cos Wii-U is easily the best console of this generation, with enough graphical power and a small form factor that looks good under the TV, and with the best ever gamepad (2nd screen!) and best games! And at a bargain price!

But theise low IQ jocks, I'll call em (to quote an Americanism) will keep on funding them to produce these overkill graphics that take many 100's of man hours to make, and extremely power hungry machines to render. and poor gameplay experiences and no real fun ensues!

Bought one of these recently due to having to charge the pad up every day. Great price for it, but should have been in console at launch. It's even the correct size for the pad, the original battery is half the size...

I want a Wii U and have won Amazon vouchers at work but am waiting for a deal. Also am highly sceptical as the NX is coming.

Also everyone remember that Nintendo do some really bad and stupid things too. They love to help scalpers, their online sucks and the virtual console is way over priced. Also they scalp you more for accessories than anyone and their accessories seem to be on sale less than the Xbox or ps4 stuff.

Finally they do fans of a lot series a huge disservice and they don't care!

I really hope they aren't inspired like other Japanese companies to gouge players via mobile.

DISCLAIMER. I own every Nintendo console from the nes to the Wii. I have over 500 Nintendo games. Just yesterday I bought NSMB2 3DS. So in b4 Xbox ps4 fanboy

The NX is ages away.

Never had the battery run out on me, the cable is long enough to plug in when it gets low. These aren't necessary to me.

You cannot say the Xbox, ps4 or pc has no real fun games.

IMHO the games library is better than Nintendo's. Also the online is far superior, there's voice chat so you can your mates can talk (not everyone likes 5 mins around the corner). It's different strokes for different folks but you can't say the games for Xbox, ps4 or pc have no fun! Madness!

I still have a jacked wii in the cupboard. I only play goat simulator these days on my android tablet. Modern games are too busy with graphics and complicated to move and fight the characters. I can't even score a goal on fifa 14 on my gathering dust ps3 which I actually only bought second hand to play blu rays and never did... Grumpy 42 of Blackpool

As with a lot of cheap Chinese batteries, it won't be anything near their advertised rating. It might not even be as good as the standard battery, plus they can be dangerous.

Yeah, it just isn't worth it because buying a GamePad costs £72 (black edition the white one's £65) at CeX. On eBay they aren't any cheaper, in fact, the sellers ask for more.

Can be dangerous, not necessarily will be though. An official battery can blow up or become misshapen in mobile devices, not just the 3rd party ones. People need to decide whether saving £15 is worth the potential hassle. Their money, their choice.

That's damn bad luck. There's no official pricing though. You'll need to send it to Nintendo to get a repair quote.

Having said that, Cex has been selling second hand ones separately for just over £70

Once you get your replacement, I suggest something like this - amazon.co.uk/gp/…s00 Flipstand Cover with Screen Protection - Black
£2.36 & FREE Delivery in the UK on orders over £20

I was leaning to the hybrid possibility but it could be something different too. We just don't know enough outside of pure speculation and people's seeming wish for it to be a Wii U replacement.

I agree we don't know anything about it beside the name, which could also be the initial project name.

But then it's obvious that Wii U was not successful, while 3DS was fine.so naturally,if they are going to release a new ststem (which they are, that we know),it will be either a successor to the unsuccessful one (Wii U) or a hybrid successor to both Wii U & 3DS,or two seperate systems.
It's very unlikely that they release a successor to 3DS and leave the Wii U,unless they just abandon home console business and focus on handheld, which in this day and age sounds a bad idea.
personally I think they will release a hybrid.with some unique features (unique but not risky like the gamepad) and it will have decent hardware specs.
