Same the GAME near me practically never had any WiiU games to begin with, all the boxes would just say available to order on them
Just been to mine and all priced a normal
In store only and very specific stores it seems, so cold on that basis. Pity they couldn't have put the remaining stock online too give everyone a shot at it...

Same.
The prices are only on new copies of the games, if they are used they'll be full price.
If they are new copies labelled at full price they will scan at prices above

It would be useful if people mentioned which stores they had looked in.

Does anyone know if GAME's stock checker is accurate for finding stores with stock?

I would just ignore it and go and check for yourself. The ones I picked up said 'No Stock' on the checker...

99p is a price holder for OOS items. GAME does show them 99p on their website when they are not going to stock any of these. These games are none existent in real life in new condition and at that price. Anything new, in store will be priced based on that store' pricing policy. There are a load of things on their site priced 99p/new.

But I thought (in other threads) that people had actually managed to find and buy these things in stores?

Again, based on store pricing policy. Some will follow that 99p online and some will sell full price.
Went to several in Oxfordshire yesterday. none had any (despite Cowley showing stock). staff mentioned they had a few but one guy came in before they even had chance to label them up. same with the blu rays for 50p to £1. they'd all gone before they could send them to head office to sell online apparently
Picked up Bayonetta 2 from Carlisle Game, new, for 99p. They had tweeted this deal (with other games starting at 99p) but now appear to have deleted the tweet. My wife picked it up and it was stickered full price.

So "These games are none existent in real life in new condition and at that price" isn't always true, then.

Thanks, I was going to try Game Cowley shortly but won't bother now!

Why don't you call them instead? If you have the time and patience for these things it's always worth it.
regardless of the store, these will scan at 99p. However, some 'jobs worths' may refuse to sell it to you...

Nothing but expensive pre owned stuff in Chester
Not 99p but Mario Color Splash is £9.99 new
We managed to get splatoon for 99p and they had a few other games for 99p and 4.99 this was in Barnstaple
Popped into Game earlier. One copy out of 3 or 4 of Star Fox 0 had the 4.99 sticker, Paper Mario CS had a 29.99 sticker. I picked up a 3 for 2 preowned selection and the Star Fox - guy at the till offered me Paper Mario for 9.99. So clearly each store is handing it a bit differently. The guy was honest and said Captain Toad was 99p but he had bought it himself - tbh I don't really care, I found the levels in 3D world unintuitive anyway. Way I look at it is he didn't have to offer me Paper Mario and I probably got told because I go in semi-regularly and always have a good chat with them. Hunting for deals isn't all about the Apprentice candidate-esque ruthlessness
why is this cold? freezing?

If you get chance captain toad is a great puzzle game, I wasn't a fan of the minigame in 3D world but treasure tracker was very good.
