'fair condition' usually means battered... probably dropped running away...

No thanks...

Wii U is still a great console and gets used regularly here even though we have a switch and Xbox one amongst others! Loads of content available for it too. Heat added

Didn’t realise it was fair condition tbh! At your own peril then! Lol

I'm desperate to play Breath of the Wild but I can't justify buying a Switch for just that. How is it on the wii u? Does it just play the same?

Yes Steven. It plays perfectly fine on the WiiU, the differences are marginal.

The same, hardly any difference apart from it not being portable. And it can be picked up for £35 at Amazon right now.

Must say sitting at my desk and playing Switch in my lunch break at work feels miles away from marginal.

Just to let everyone know that these were out of stock recently online, also in-store had bumped their prices up.

Anyone on the fence about getting one:

A third of the price of the switch
Some great exclusives including Zelda BOTW
Good for local multiplayer
Virtual Console
A refreshing change if you have PS4/XB1
Most of their big titles are in the Selects range for around 17 quid each new and cheaper used

Also correct me if I'm wrong but returns/replacements are slightly different if paying by PayPal as you have to return it to the place it came from rather than going to the store if you pay by card

Voted hot!

Also £35 quid at Argos too if anyone is interested

How is backward compatibility with this. I know it's supposed to be but company claims and real - world performance don't always match.

Is Splatooon on this, my lad loves watching splatoon so wouldn't mind getting it at this price if so?

Google confirmed, cheapest place for Splatoon?

Any decent football games?

If it wasn't for Oculus I'd be spending a lot more time on the Wii U. I spent years waiting for the prices to drop that bit lower, and when I finally got around to buying one I wish I had done it long before.

Can't believe Haxchi has made it this long to be honest, thought It'd be done for in the latest firmware.
Great for loading SNES roms though. I can't exactly remember the process to do it but I ended up patching in some SNES roms that load through the main system - it took most of an afternoon but it was worth it!

The Wii U console plays Nintendo Wii games perfectly, ever single Wii game and accessory is fully compatible. It has a Wii U mode which is basically exactly the same as an original Wii console, there is no difference in the experience of playing a Wii game on a Wii console or Wii U. For motion sensing games with the Wiimote controller you can either use a Wii sensor bar or use the Wii U gamepad as a sensor.

Does it play gamecube games?

Not officially no. But the Wii U is compatible with the Wii, which was basically a Gamecube with some extras. Search out Wii U homebrew such as Nintendon't.

You know what this thread is missing? Someone's dad, the worlds favourite Nintendo fan! It's not the same without him

Think it's gone. Keep saying your selected delivery option is no longer available.

Voted hot but I'm not quite sure why. It's been sitting at this price for too long now...

Is the Zelda DLC on Wii U?

In answer to ealier posters questions yes Splattoon can be played on this and the Zelda DLC is available although the second instalment is still not out yet although planned for December some time.

Does anyone know if this comes with any controllers?

OOS but you can get the console only for £99 which is not bad really.

Probably the Switch if I'm being honest. There won't be any new games released for the Wii U now, development on it has stopped and some of its best games such as Mario Kart, Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Xenogears, and Splatoon are available on the Switch. The Switch is also fully portable so your son could play it in the car for example, and effectively gives you both a home console on your TV and something self contained to play anywhere. One of the problems in recommending the Wii U over the Switch is that for a 'dead' system the best games for it are still a little expensive and to be frank there's not actually that many essential exclusive titles, and I'm assuming that the likes of the Zelda remasters will eventually appear on the Switch.

Completely depends on budget in mind. If you are happy to pay £260 for the switch + around £35-50 for games untill they drop in price in a year or two then definitely go with the switch. If that is too much and you would rather get a wii U + a handful of games for £150 + games from around £15-30 then go with the Wii U.

The Switch is portable had better graphics and is more future proof but the wii u has a great back catalogue of games.

It will come with the gamepad, which is what they always come with. Any other controllers of whatever kind (Wii U Pro Controller, Wiimotes and nunchuks, Wii Classic Controller, etc) its up to you to buy yourself. Cheap generic non-official Wiimotes can always be found very cheaply online, though the genuine Nintendo ones are best.

Snooze you lose, just went to buy all gone
