It's not holding value, Nintendo are just trying to feign a status of control. Look at the Wii U's abysmal sales figures.
Just to update.. The third party seller replied that they have tested the adapter plug things and are safe but they were very happy to refund me £7 to get a UK one..

Description states "EURO Unit - UK 3-pin plug adapter supplied as required".
Usually get a 3pin adapter but some report not getting one. But maybe not a big thing as the adapter have been reported to not be UK safety compliant or suitable. Also do your research on the seller and ensure your happy before purchasing from them.
That's the good thing about Alza. They make sure the customer's aware of what they additionally need than "will it include or not?".

Not a lot buy them anyway so the price doesn't change much until the next Nintendo home console is out.

On a side note do the Pro controllers ever go on offer? Struggling to find a legit one cheap enough to justify.
I ordered a 2DS offer for GF b day from same store (Pixel via Play.com)
It came with a European plug and a Euro-English converter.
Obviously this is good for travelling to the continent, but as we live in England not so handy.
Is this safe? And is there any chance of this setting on fire?
And surely selling this in England it should have an English plug ?
The Euro and UK units are exactly the same except for the plug fittings at the end of the cable. The problem is UK prices are higher and not competitive with prices elsewhere in other European countries. Hence all these EURO deals that get posted. I bought a EURO Wii U (not from this seller mind you), and the bundle worked out a fair bit cheaper and am quite happy.

I really suggest you do some research and read reviews on the seller, although some have a happy experience, lets just say not all are happy or recommend the seller. Some who have said the supplied adapters from this seller were not UK safety compliant. I am trying to be balanced here, so look into things yourself and make your own decision.
If you buy an adapter from ASDA, or B&Q or wherever you will be fine. Also be aware you need 2 x adapters if you buy a EURO unit (1 for the Wii U Console and 1 for the screen based gamepad).
The seller should really make it more clear and obvious the item is a EU unit on the product page, I completely agree. The OP who posted the deal on here also should have highlighted the fact. We see about 1 of these deals every week... and this is all regular stuff, and if you look at the many other EURO Wii U deals posted on here in recent weeks/months you will see lots of debate about the pros/cons. Just to reiterate, I am happy with my Euro Wii U, but never used this seller.

Thanks. Have emailed both play.com and the 3rd party seller.. Mainly expressing concern at the possibility of my house burning down (on account of the supplied continent to England adapter not carrying the CE or 'kite' or any other safety symbol marks) and also stating that it was very very small at the very bottom of item description in a few words that informed that it was a continental item with adapter.
Only had a reply from play (rakaten) so far, informing me that its not their problem and to email the Pix people. Not much help, I have done this already and they haven't replied!
Play.com really don't exist any more. Ratuken I believe if I understand things right are basicaly an entirely seperate company and business that just so happened to buy the Play.Com name to give them access to an instant market. The 2 companys operate so differently they could not be further apart. Best not to see Ratuken as anything like or to do with Play.
Also the customer service is generally poor at Ratuken. They just deflect everything to the sellers on their site and they don't really manage or screen those sellers.
For the record I did buy a Wii U from Pixel about 6 months ago without even realising it was an EU unit. I hadn't quite realised who I was buying from and the thing about Play really being non existant anymore. I cancelled said order, because I was unhappy and felt insecure with the seller for such a large purchase.
