Generally speaking, there have been far fewer problems with that engine than the petrol versions.

Owned one , great engine when it's running. Approx 100k miles problems start , & become expensive ie quoted a new engine 5k ! By a Nissan dealership For a 4 year old qashqui. Petrol stronger .

I think most manufacturers would dream of an engine that only started giving problems at 100,000! The petrol engines are chocolate mate, honestly, especially the 1.2 turbo, this one is a bit too early to judge yet.
On page it states "April 30th 2019 pre registered zero mileage unused cars , only ink blue , nightshade or magnetic red left , please add the metallic paint cost to gain the total price".
So shouldn't the deal be £18,147?

There's problems then there replacing a whole engine lol . But Agree petrol better imo. Really have to rack up the miles to justify a diesel engine , and when problems start they are expensive to fix . imo wiping out any savings made by owning a diesel. Of course those that swap frequently Wont have this issue. I wasn't happy with the interior quality either lol , was creaky in places. However father in law has the Pulsar 1.2 that's been a great car .

The diesels will be Renault , older models the 1.6 diesel was a Nissan built lump. TBF when the diesels are running there great , punchy etc . It's when things start going pear shaped. However this deal is for petrol engine & I'm still bitter about the 1.5dci .

Agree, if you're buying to keep then getting any car with just a 3year warranty is a huuuuuge gamble. And to get any sort of goodwill if there are problems down the line you need to have main dealer SH with schedules bang on.

Yes this is the HR13DDT found in many Renaults , the X-Trail and the MB A-Class.

4x4 refers to the number of dogs you can get in the back during your weekly food shop, not the drive train.

One needs to be a bit careful in lubricating this new breed of direct injection gasoline engines.

Watch out for excessive build up of partially burnt fuel in your oil. Use a low volatility, full synthetic oil. Also, it's advisable to use an oil containing some over-based magnesium sulphonate to avoid low speed pre-ignition.

What are you on about? It's a diesel, the oil will always be filthy by the time it needs to be changed.

The 1.5dCi is the K9K Renault engine that has been around for years, I originally had it in an 05 Clio.

It is seriously underpowered for this car though tbh, I have a 66 plate 1.5dCi Qashqai and it is gutless.

Lovely car, fully spec'd but just too heavy for this engine. Handles like a cruise ship too.

Several people have also warned me about the fuel pump shearing, requiring in a worst case scenario.. a new engine, tank, fuel lines etc, and advised to put Redex fuel system cleaner in once a month.

I'm no mechanic but I thought I'd check this out.

I found this video on a Delphi fuel pump that was pushing through metallic debris to the diesel injectors. This isn't from a Renault but Delphi supply the HP fuel pumps to Renault-Nissan (there are two parts to the video)...

Like all diesel fuel pumps, the pump is entirely reliant on the fuel itself to provide its lubrication. It's been a couple of decades since I dabbled in this but I seem to recall two things. First, as sulphur levels of diesel have been reduced (to virtually nothing today), its inherent lubricity drops. Second, the acidic additives you could (back then) add to diesel fuel interacted badly with the alkaline additives in the engine oil.

I'd assume by now someone has come up with a solution.
m5rcc21/07/2019 12:52

Power to weight.

Underpowered in a smaller, lighter car such as a clio? No. Underpowered in this car? Yes!

It is noticeable in real life situations such as pulling out etc how much grunt it is lacking. You have to keep the revs high and/or change down frequently. My previous car, Astra J 2.0 Cdti, would pull away pretty much from anywhere in the rev range without changing down.

I've heard filling up at supermarket fuel stations has been blamed.. apparently the mixture of fuel / additives is different than to top branded fuels such as Shell etc. However, how true this is I don't know.
