I've just ordered this for a bit of evening/night off road riding. I've shown it to a few season cyclists at work and they have said it's a very good deal. I'm sure there are more deals to be had as I've orderd some gloves too that are greatly reduced. I'll upload a picture later as I can't get on any photo hosting sites at the moment.

I had a quick look at other sites and couldn't get anywhere near this price elsewhere.

I was looking at getting a powerful front light...

How does this deal compare with say a P7 900 Lumens light from DX for £50? Any comparisons?

I cant comment on the NiteFlux but a mate recieved his P7 form dealextreme the other day (painfully slow shipping) and its amazing, I cant quite express just how bright it is. We went out night hiking in the snow a couple of weeks ago, I had my 6 cell Maglite and when he turned on the P7 you couldn't see the light emitted by my torch anymore. It really is like a car headlight, excelent bit of kit (does get pretty warm though)

IMHO for most uses on bicycles Halogen lights are old (dead) technology.

A 10 Watt halogen will put out less light than a 3 watt LED. However it consumes more power, so has a hefty battery pack. They tend to be harder to put on / remove from a bicycle (if you leave your bike locked up in public) and the bulbs occasionally blow/burn out so need replacing. Most LED lights take conventional batteries which are easy to charge / replace.

From what I've read, the P7 would be in a different league to a 10 watt halogen, though no personal experience.

FWIW I use a Dinotte 200L as my main light, and a Smart Lunar 35 (£24.99) as my back-up, to alert drivers with its blinding blinkiness. Either on their own is more than adequate to illuminate a pitch black road at commuting speeds, but probably doesn't have enough spread for off road cycling.

Rufus.

Cheers guys, halogens are probably being "got rid of" by suppliers and retailers now due to their obsoleteness as stated above by Rufus.

I think i'll get the P7 from DX but I'll wait until I am absolutely sure I need one.

FWIW Ive raced both at Sleepless In The Saddle and Mountain Mayhem with just my dinotte 200L as a head torch (spare on bars - turned off) and its been fine.

They've got an HID one too for £100...

Maybe rip it apart and stick this in it -

Can be overdriven to 4000 lumens :-D

Big reduction but heavy and only 2.5 hrs burn time. Yesterday's technology I'm afraid. LED is a massive step forward.

LOL. Where are you going to get more than 2.5hrs runtime for £30 all in!?

Heavy? looks like its 260g for the 3 cell li-ion battery here: niteflux.com/dow…pdf

Apparently you can mod these to use Cree Tripple LED PCB's and light driver, although I cannot locate specifics just yet.
