Not really, my young lad prefers the Kalpa Sutra, the Avesta Texts and the Satanic Bible.

He says they are the only holy books that speak the truth, not like that xtian rag - he says it's the Sun, Star or Sport of the Holy-Book world.

Got mine free at Sunday school ......what is the world coming too!!!!

Doesn't NIV syand for Never Intended Version as this is based on the dubious Westcott and Hort text rather than Textus Receptus ?

Still, better than the completely inane Good News version.

Eh - No?

"NIV translators work from more than 5,000 complete or partial manuscripts and papyri."

If you want to read the bible, it's available for free online

Note, religious texts are contradictory. They can't all be right, they could all be wrong.

Well I reckon the OP should come with the following disclaimer:

*Other religions are also available.

You won't believe the bible, yet you'll put your faith into google?

i don't believe in the bible because its unverifiable and convulted and it makes less sense than the world being flat. anything i read on google, or in logical books is easily verifable one way or another.

Your description of the bible, whilst accurate also sounds just like google, so good for you, I'll put you in the foolish camp then.

Including the dubious Alexandrian texts of Westcott and Hort.

Westcott and Hort edited the Greek text used for the Revised Version (1881) and the American Standard Version (1901). Both the RV and ASV omitted about 17 verses. The New American Standard Bible, a revision of the ASV, only omits 16 verses. The NIV omits the exact same 17 verses that the RV and the ASV omits! If the NIV uses a different Greek text, then why does it omit the same verses?

Suppose that is why the question mark after your "no" as you were unsure of your facts.

Still, glad to be able to add some clarity.
