Does you car have to be a Ford? It doesn't state above.
I wonder what they'll find wrong that has to be fixed?

It does state Ford in the title ;). Maybe for other makes but not that I'm aware of.

I guess thats their plan - throw this out as a loss leader & try to get business off the back of it. They can try but I will decline!
Why can't you just check yourself, saving you the expense. Most, if not all of these things can be easly.....£14.40 for a few bits that can be picked up at a fraction of this price. Also like the previous poster has said, they will find something wrong and rip you off. They are not called stealers ( car dealers ) for nothing...

This will cost me nothing because of the m&s voucher. I will also get the car care kit & a wash & valet. Someone else can check it for me while I go for a coffee
Nectar only worth £10 so yeah, go for the M&S £20, it's a complete freebie as OP says and I doubt it's restricted to Ford only, just turn down any recommendations, it's not compulsory, it's the equivalent of a timeshare presentation with the hard sell at the end

I think the nectar points can be doubled for certain things so would also be worth £20 but I would rather have the m&s voucher
Do you just ring up any Ford garage? Do you get the voucher there and then when you pick your car up?
Ridgeway are doing something similar for VW - a free winter health check. It's a sales tactic - they hope to find something you need.
Even if a had a car in warranty I wouldn't trust them for anything other servicing. As far as I'm concerned until they are properly monitored when working on cars I want my car to visit a garage as little as possible.
[quote=jumpidoo]Do you just ring up any Ford garage?

Not sure - my call was from Bristol street motors service booking on an 0191 number.

Do you get the voucher there and then when you pick your car up?[/

Apparently yes. They checked the option I wanted & said it would be available on pick up
Then they lie and tell you everything needs topping up or changing. It's a ploy to create work. If you can say get lost its a good deal. If you are bad with pushy sales is leave it alone.
I dont see any mention of M&S vouchers on the ford web page

Thus why I said in my original spiel that I couldn't find any details online (_;)
interesting deal !
worst case scenario, you break even (M&S voucher) and get some de-icer etc worth about a fiver in reality

My independent local garage will do the same each year for the same price and best of all I trust them more than a franchise. Like others have said most things like this can be and should be checked by yourself more cheaply.
MOT and service at said local independent around £140 - £160 verses a ford or vauxhall franchise £280 - £300.
The Ford Winter Check includes:
•Battery and alternator condition - If your car starts when cold, it's fine
•Exhaust condition - If it does not make raspy fart noises its fine
•Tyre condition and pressure - If they are round and have a zig-zag pattern they are fine
•Steering and suspension check - car turns left & right it's fine, if you don't get sea sick when driving suspension also fine
•Cooling system condition and levels - no red light on dash? it's fine
•Brake condition and fluid level - car stops? that red light again? ..... it's fine
•Engine oil level - front of cars does not sound like a bag of marbles falling down a flight of stairs? the level is fine.. red light?
•Wiper blade condition - water is wiped away? fine
•Anti-freeze top-up* red light again? (*denotes the most expensive liquid in the world)
•Screen wash top-up* water sprays windscreen when you pull the stick? it's fine (*denotes the 2nd most expensive fluid in the world
•Condition of exterior lights - If it's dark and you don't bump into things, they're fine

I'm definitely taking my car to that ooooohyeeeah car shop, for its next service X)
Straightforward innit?
Had to phone up my crap ford dealer 50 times to get them to send the vouchers on to me after i had a service with them last year.
"Nectar points are only available on work completed on a Ford Vehicle at Ford Service centre or any make at Rapid Fit"
Most people should be able to do 90% of those things themselves apart from exhaust , steering and brakes

Even then it's quite easy to tell if your exhaust is blowing or any brackets are loose by puttng some cardboard alongside your car and having a look underneath while engine running.

Brakes wikihow.com/Che…uid then try a emergency stop down a sie road

Free car wash and valet. I like the sound of that.
No Voucher or Winter Kit offered in Dunstable.
The number they called from was 0191 4912404. Double check the details there.
This is available from all MAIN dealers such as Dagenham Motors. I've just booked, with the M&S vouchers confirmed...!
you are dead right thanks for that
Is the voucher for M&S normally sent and received via email afterwards from ford dealer, or is it in person at dealer?
Got my M&S voucher a few days ago. It's an e-gift card redeemable either instore or online (there are no special restrictions; usual M&S gift card terms apply). It comes by e-mail direct from Ford so don't forget to provide your e-mail address when you book; there's no 'in person' alternative. Keep checking your spam folder for a few weeks after qualifying!
Rang up Arnold Clarke in Aberdeen about this and they are giving a free winter health check with the free winter kit. So I'm getting a free gift with a free check! I've just bought a new car so at least I'll know the brakes are ok. They'll probaby try to sell me something of course but all I need to do is say no!
