It was just a con to put more money in London's coffers, the congestion certainly didn't go down any

It should have more than just a holiday

Well said Hudson, Its a tax to visit central london and has not eased congestion in anyway. Better to just pedestrianise (if thats a words) the central mile and give free transport within. This means more money in is spent in shops.

So before the tax, there was tourists and residents in this zone, and now mostly tourists?

London has boomed since the congestion charge came in, it has to be scrapped. Totally forgot the residents in my argument lol, they should compensate them someway or other.

So London will be grid locked between 25th-1st then!

Maybe it's because you're a Londoner!!

Another deal with Free travel days using Mastercard contactless, with TFL/Mastercard sharing the bill, during this period would have been a much more sensible choice.

It gives the impression that traveling into Central London by car, is somehow a necessity, even if commuter numbers will be lower. Cars still affect Air Pollution, and more so on colder days where there is little air movement. Doesn't really promote the Don't drink and drive message much either.

It would be nice to just get a week of hardly any cars.

It IS a tax to visit central London. That's the idea, isn't it? To put people off driving and encourage them to use alternative transport.

living within the congestion charge area it surly didnt help much if at all. however i would prefer it to go back to include Kensington and Chelsea or be abolished. about am month ago i received a letter regards a Ultra Low Emission Zone for 2020 which is to be 247 at £12.50 and would be in addition to the congestion charge. if anything they should learn form UAE where large vehicles are allowed on the roads between 00:00 and 06:00, to try and utilise the roads at night

Public transport is packed to rafters as it is, not ideal for a lot of people. Maybe londons getting to big for its own good, we should have a few more hub cities that get as much attention as london.

Happy London shopping!!

You couldn't pay me to go shopping in Oxford Street during these days.

Be lovely if they suspended all parking costs, metered spaces are free on sundays when no congestion charges are applicable

How generous,no change to drive on the roads we already pay for.

That newspaper ad looks a little old fashioned.

Are they trying to evoke a little nostalgia by reminding us of the good old days when there was no congestion charge to drive on the roads our road tax pays for ?

Seeing as 'road tax' was abolished in 1937, I don't think the look of this ad is quite that retro.
