Games don't come much more ambitious than No Man's Sky. Arguably the

most anticipated game of 2016, it promises something truly epic in

scope. Developer Hello Games has created an entire

procedurally-generated galaxy for players to explore.

Explorers

are dropped at random in this huge swathe of space and must make their

way to the centre of the galaxy, a journey that could take anything from

30 hours to hundreds to complete, depending on how the player chooses

to play.

Every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.

Every planet is somewhere you could land. Every planet's surface is

different to the next. Every species is unique to its environment. You

can find things that may never be seen by another player of the game,

given how large it is. You might discover artefacts that give clues to

the secrets of the universe, and it's up to you to decide whether to

share them with your fellow players who are exploring the galaxy in

parallel to you. Who knows - you might even find traces of those other

intrepid explorers.

Danger is everywhere, and players will

have to fight to survive in both dogfights and first-person combat on

the surface of the worlds they visit. Not only will they have to fight,

they'll also have to prepare by collecting precious materials and

trading them for the ships, suits and equipment that they need on their

journey.

In this game, not even the sky's the limit.

I know loads of people will say it, and I'm not usually in the business of being negative about games, but I paid £9 six months ago and it was the worst money I've spent on a game in ages. The interface is confusing, it runs like a pig even as it's loading on a PS4 Pro, and I just can't get excited about having to do a 15-minute return journey on foot from my ship to a tree that has something I need to fix my ship and fly off again.

£7.22 is a good price for most games, but it still feels like too much for No Man's Sky. I know a couple of people who like it, but even they seem to struggle to explain why!

Worth this price anyone?? Thanks for any advice.

Sounds pretty cool as a concept though! Maybe TOO epic...

Isn't this said to be a bit broken? Impressive concept, but poor execution?

Either way, good price!

I wish I could say yes mate, but sadly, the core of the game's still a problem (I bought it with the update in mind!) - my friends told me what had changed, etc, but it wasn't enough to push me into going back. The first planet I landed on was basically a 30-minute borefest - get stuff, make it in the weird menu, walk for eight minutes across samey terrain for a compound, walk back, fix craft.

The likes of Out There give a better experience, and that's just a daft mobile game!

I picked this up cheaply last year and had quite a lot of fun with it. I mean it is intentionally slow paced, and I enjoyed exploring, mining and crafting. I certainly didn't find the loading screens etc to be an issue, and enjoyed playing something of such huge scope (whilst admittedly being flawed!). Gave up on it in the end, as the loot/crafting system wasnt rewarding enough - but I easily got my moneys worth.

Worth noting that the developers are still updating the game...

I take it i would have to pay for online to play this on the ps4?

I quite enjoyed it after the updates, but still found it pretty boring at the end of the day. Just found stuff to be too much of a grind, which normally I'm ok with, but not when it takes literal hours to do anything worthwhile.

No it's not technically multiplayer I don't think.

Wow, ok thanks for all the info. i'll hang back for now then although i'm not sure it's going to get any cheaper.

It's all about balance really, pal. I just know that so long as a pint of decent craft ale is cheaper, I'd rather enjoy that for half an hour, instead of hate my decision-making for the same length of time

Showing as £13.09 now.

just gonna leave this here (jump to 13:00 for anyone whose not a fan of Jim)

I bought the physical copy day one £49.99 Not too bothered though as got a platinum and am enjoying the updated stuff. no idea how much more HG will add but at least one more major update is coming from what I know,

I was one of the fools that bought this game at launch. I would advise anyone thinking of buying this game to steer clear. Even at this price.

There is not an ounce of depth to any of the gameplay. Woeful.

This is £6.70 now, 3 in stock
