Games don't come much more ambitious than No Man's Sky. Arguably the most anticipated game of 2016, it promises something truly epic in scope. Developer Hello Games has created an entire procedurally-generated galaxy for players to explore.

Explorers are dropped at random in this huge swathe of space and must make their way to the centre of the galaxy, a journey that could take anything from 30 hours to hundreds to complete, depending on how the player chooses to play.

Every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit. Every planet is somewhere you could land. Every planet's surface is different to the next. Every species is unique to its environment. You can find things that may never be seen by another player of the game, given how large it is. You might discover artefacts that give clues to the secrets of the universe, and it's up to you to decide whether to share them with your fellow players who are exploring the galaxy in parallel to you. Who knows - you might even find traces of those other intrepid explorers.

Danger is everywhere, and players will have to fight to survive in both dogfights and first-person combat on the surface of the worlds they visit. Not only will they have to fight, they'll also have to prepare by collecting precious materials and trading them for the ships, suits and equipment that they need on their journey.

In this game, not even the sky's the limit.

Is there still any way to get the 10% off for signing up to the music magpie newsletter via a popup that shows up on the MM website or by going through a link or liking their facebook, then combining the 10% off code you get off them with this 15% off @ checkout? I'm sure I remember doing this a few months ago but I'm not 100%. Sorry if this doesn't seem to make much sense haha!

How are you getting the 10% code though please? I can't seem to get it to pop up any more and i used to be able to just input a different email address each time to get another code?

I tried incognito on my android phone just now and still can't see the newsletter sign up, could you link me to the url please? I know it seems pointless for now but i want to bookmark the url for when i spot a good deal in the future when there are no active codes...

the released an unfinished sandbox of a game when it first came out and charged £50 for it, was a big scandal, everyone wanted money back for it. There have since been updates for it, it's about half a playable game now but its still unfinished as heck. Like you can spend hours exploring space in a randomly generated sandbox, this doesnt equate to gameplay. They have added base building to the game and there is a back story in place that can be discovered by searching, gameplay is yet to be that engaging yet, it's fantastic as a framework for something to be built out of it, but its still barely living up to half the promise of what it said it was going to be when it came out. I'd suggest googling some of the scandal about it to find out the full list of missing content that might one day be added to the game if they finish it.

Thanks for the summary! I'd heard murmurs of a scandal, and I'd heard there were some updates, although I didn't know whether the developer is still working on more updates. While the game wasn't worth it at full price, is it worth investing time into at £8? Or would you recommend waiting a few more months for further updates? Has the developer stated when the next update is due? Thanks!

I always feel like the game is going to be a disappointment until it's in a state thats considered finished, which wont be till 2018 at least, maybe 19 at that, possibly even further, but I don't have 2020 vision.
if you like exploring open space with random generated stuff repeating itself like the corridoors that scooby doo gets chased down then this is the game for you

Wow, they're still planning to work on it that many years post-release? Even though they released it unfinished, you'd expect them to just take the money and run, wonder what their incentive is to keep spending much so much time on it, as most people won't go back to revisit this, and they're not really gonna get much new money from it once its expanded because people could just buy it super cheap pre-owned

I dont know if they will, chances are things will stop next year based on funding, I think they wanted to make a certain game though and got halfway through and were forced to release it and all the promotion they had for the game said "it will have all these features" they just never specified on release, but now everyone hates them for it
