Nobilo White Cloud NZ white wine reduced at Sainsburys

Popped into Sainsburys today and noticed that they had quite a lot of wines on sale. Was delighted to find that Nobilo White Cloud (2007) was one of them. Very, very nice wine that usually sells for £5.99 a bottle. Bargain at £2.80!

"Nobilo White Cloud is a medium dry wine from New Zealand. A blend of Muller Thurga and Sauvignon Blanc producing a delicious full nose with excellent fruit and balance on the palate."

what does it taste like, normal dry white wine?

Difficult to describe a taste. It's nicely fruity without being at all sweet but it's not sharp or overly dry, just a clean crisp, slightly tropical fruit, taste.

A review I found said "This New Zealand white displays fresh summer fruit flavours, lingering crisp and clean on the palate. The name White Cloud is derived from Aotearoa - Land of the Long White Cloud - the ancient Maori name for New Zealand. Enjoy lightly chilled.

Background: The grapes for White Cloud were sourced from premium Gisborne and Hawkes Bay vineyards. The vines are established in alluvial and river silts soils on a vertical shoot positioning trellis system, and enjoy a maritime climate of cool evenings and warm, sunny days"
They did nt have any in selby store......;[
Sounds like Frank's wine is better than his golf!
Good deal but all those cheap NZ Marlborough Sauv Blanc deals seem to have disappeared recently. Shame.

I'll give this one a try at that price though!
whats up with red wine deals at the mo? poor selection high prices and flat-bottomed rubbish being wheeled out? is there a crisis? see also: rice milk
I can really recommend one red wine on offer ..

Limited Release Shiraz (McLaren Vale) - down from about 7.99 to 4.49 (Sainsburys own label)

I normally avoid own labels - but this wine is superb absolutely superb - highly recommended. Although it says Shiraz on front its a blend of Shiraz and Voig.

infact its one of the finer reds I've tasted

Your looking at the proof! (see the date of the first post) I remember looking for some at the time but it must have been store specific.
