You can get the Nokia 2310 Red on Virgin Mobile at the Carphone Warehouse for only £4.95 when you buy £10 top-up. You could also get £5 cashback when you go through Quidco.

**This phone is locked**

Also, to bring the price down further trade-in your old brick (with manual & charger) to get a further £10 off making this phone technically free (provided you get your quidco).

To get this phone unlocked you (or someone you know) must have spent £30 on credit to request the unlock code for free from Virgin Mobile.

Good deal - I vote Hot.
I use this phone and so far have been very happy with it. Keeps it's charge for a couple of weeks at least, and the sound quality is fine. If I could change one thing it would be the loudness of ringtone, but that's minor. Bought mine from Tesco with decent Quidco, but this is cheap (virtually free is what I call a good deal). It's only a basic model, but for limited use it's good.

It's my understanding that some but not all CPW PAYG phones are unlocked. Is that right? and can anyone confirm if this phone is unlocked.
It's still a good deal either way

bought the white one direct from Virgin many months ago for £9.99 with free p&p, free £10.00 voucher and quidco of £7 - GREAT deal that was! Phone is stylist and simple to use. Suitable for your first mobile, for inexperienced phone users or as a standby replacement.

thanks nice deal - how can you do the trade in? does that work with this phone?

This is one of the easiest phones to DIY unlock.

Quidco will track but then cpw will decline - happened to me twice.

Any chance of linking to how it's done.

There is an option of trade - in to tick while ordering.

I’ve done some research and seemingly this isn’t a phone you can unlock yourself so you need to take it to a shop and pay the regular fee.
Has anyone ordered one of these and checked whether it’s unlocked?

I found the same link but I also read loads of threads which clearly stated that you can’t unlock this phone just by using a code; here’s one example – MoneySavingExpert. My conclusion is that you are very likely going to have to pay to get it unlocked.

its not possible to unlock these phone's by using a free nokia calculator. shop/provider unlock only.

br

I will check it anyway.I have found a few methods of unlocking. If I do not succeed I will pay a visit my local 'specialist' or buy a data cable for approx.£7 on ebay + JAF software.

I went into a CPW store today and asked whether these are locked; I was told that only the Virgin one is and the rest aren’t. It may not be the same if you buy online though as the price differential is not the same. In store the O2 one is only £10 more than the Virgin one and since it costs about £10 to get one unlocked on the high street (at the two places I tried) you might as well get the O2 one unless you particularly want a Virgin SIM. If the T-Mobile one on-line is also unlocked then that would be the cheapest way to get one of these unlocked and without having to take it to a store; it’s only £4 more than the Virgin phone.

I just spoke with CPW on the phone and asked about the online deal and was told that they are all unlocked! The problem is I was also told that if I placed my O2 SIM in the Virgin PAYG phone and it turned out to be locked that I can’t get a refund as the phone had been used. LOL.

I ordered one of these yesterday before this deal was posted, so hopefully will get it delivered tomorrow. As soon as I get it, I'll post on here as to whether it is unlocked or not.

If it is locked to Virgin, then if you know someone else who is on Virgin and has spent over £30 on top-ups they should be able to get the unlock code for you for free.

Thanks. I’m not surprised after what I was told in-store yesterday and I knew the tele-sales person that said otherwise was a BS merchant. He kept on saying it’s more than likely unlocked and when I said that didn’t guarantee anything he eventually said it definitely was. Yeah right, I’m really feeling confident in his changing his tune in that way. :whistling:

Shame it's on Vodaphone as their PAYG Tariff is expensive; if it's unlocked I might grab one.
Is this much difference between the two phones?

Expired; it’s now £22.95 but T-Mobile is £18.95 and is possibly unlocked; see earlier posts for details on locking.

My quidco got declined, anyone esle had this ( I have reported this to quidco),

Mine has been validated; I went for it on T-Mobile at £8.95.

I have ordered 2 and both are locked. I have spoken to Virgin and as I have posted on here before, they claim they do not have the unlock codes for phones they have not sold. As before they referred me to the original retailer.

I also have a Nokia 1112 which I bought from Phones4u which they said they did not have the unlock code for and now these from CPW!! Previously I phoned Phones4U and they said ask Virgin for unlock code. Both Virgin and Phones4U asked me to call the other party on multiple occassions so I did try! Seems like it will be diffucult to get the codes for these......Tried the code from GSMarena and these did not work
