No NFC on the Moto 5, there is on the Nokia. Depends what you're after

loads of people just want a compact stock android 7 phone with a compass gyroscope!

But HUK don't get same level of commission from CW as they do from Vodafone
5" is compact nowadays?...at 720p my preference would opt for a 4" Iphone SE albeit the lack of storage expansion.

My lumia 925 was the perfect size before Microsoft took over the the production from NOKIA. Apple get a lot of stick for their non-conformity but damn it! ...you have to give them top marks for their designs.

I would love to see more from android or windows(highly unlikely) within the 4"-4.5" range. Makes me chuckle when i see people with skinny jeans with no room for the 5"+ phones in the pockets

Main question is: can this device last 1-2 months from full charge? Ah then days when I can charge my phone once, and it'll go a lifetime. Even after playing Snake! now I have to charge my device daily

Bought one for son. Perfect Pokémon Go phone!
The Nokia 3 feels and looks far more expensive than it is
Nokia, minus all the people that made them good, hmm...
Not bad, but if it's locked to Vodafone then it sucks

Have you held one and had a proper test?

It feels very premium. I only had a quick go in the shop but appears very snappy
Btw this is an Unlocked phone from CPW

SIM free ie Unlocked.... The £10 SIM can be any network and you can just chuck it away it you want and pop your current SIM in straight away.... Btw it takes Nano SIM the smallest of the SIM sizes

The Magnetic sensor will show minute details like change in your orientation as well. You can change your direction and you will be able to see that on your smartphone screen. This is particularly help full when you are using navigation on foot. In the Absence of magnetic senor you can see your position on the Map but, not your orientation. the Map doesn’t rotate when you do. Magnetic sensor helps you to take that first step in the correct direction with the help of the direction pointer.

I don't get this. If you read some of the reviews and watch some youtube video reviews, this phone lags like hell even brand new out of the box. Why would anyone buy one? Have they done a firmware update to make them fast?

They are made by HMD who licensed the name, yes. They also bought the phone division from Microsoft.

HMD is run for the most part by ex Nokia veteran staff. The Phone Division bought from Microsoft is also Nokia staff.

They have the name, the experience, the processes and principles.

So no, it's not just the name.

'For the most part'? Maybe some people from HR and they guy from the photocopying division. In all seriousness though a lot of the major talent went elsewhere - I mean, do we think they just sat around working in a call centre until HMD bought the name back?

Whilst it's not true that this HMD Nokia has no legacy from the Nokia of old - it's certainly no Polaroid - it is a far cry from the Nokia of yore. I think the fairest thing to say is that there are some people who worked for Nokia who are part of the HMD group and are desperate to get the name back into the public consciousness. Finnish people are very proud of Nokia and don't want to see it go the way of the dodo - the recent rehash of the 3310 is evidence of this need to rekindle the name 'Nokia'.

Some people think they're going to start making top of the line 41mp Pureview cameras and carrying on where they left off though and I don't think this is likely - they now have far less camera and even general hardware expertise than most manufacturers out there as they have lost most of the big guns - Ari Partinen, their lead camera engineer for example left for Apple three years ago. They still have Juha Alakarhu but he's on the Ozo 360 camera team at Nokia. I think the idea that they're going to come out of the ashes with a stonking camera is far fetched.

What I've seen so far from this Nokia is some very nice looking handsets. I've seen nothing else to make me convinced that they're anything more special than a regular old Chinese import from Gearbest though - which also often look very nice.

As it stands we could have a company with some passionate Finnish employees who want to make something great, but we could also have a company ultimately led by the desire to exploit the name and past heritage which ends up doing little else.

Have to say that I hope all the more positive predictions come true and that I'm entirely wrong though - I used to love Nokia phones back in the day and I would love to see them back in the game. Don't think this is a great start though - MTK chip and no fingerprint scanner...yuk

decent enough price i suppose, but no fingerprint scanner or 1080p display is a dealbreaker for me in a 2017 phone above £100

if you can live without those, a reasonably decent deal
Moto G5 every time

Sure, of course a lot of them went their seperate ways but it is a lot more than the HR departments and the Photocopying division :D. They have got a lot of experienced talent behind them, that's my point. Have they got all the talent? No. They haven't got all the chaff either, of which there was a whole load!

I think we all need to remember that the Nokia of old did have some talented people. On the other hand, they also had some rubbish people and that's why they ended up getting bought by Micro$oft. In the old days of Nokia, there hardware was always good but underpowered. The software usually had lots of bugs on release and they had the annoying habit of taking away features only to add them as new features later, (Google now love to do this.) The only thing that really set them apart was the camera quality.
Just came back from Carphone Warehouse. This phone lags like hell. Opening browser takes a couple of seconds. Operating system seems to use up all resources. I strongly recommend you go to CW and a have a look before buying Nokia 3.

one of the factors in my purchasing of a redmi 4 pro. I can easily get into day 3 unless I'm using videos... love it!
Haven't Nokia promised regular and quick updates to the OS which would put them a long way ahead of the now Lenovo owned Motorola.
