I am sure they lock to first sim you put in.

I know there contract phones are unlocked but pay and go not sure crazy price heat added.

Super and thanks a lot OP :)... was about to get the one from Argos but this is 20£ less and the cheapest so far... btw pay as u go phones are unlocked from cpw..

But still hesitant as my preference is a min 32GB ROM and full HD display so waiting if p10 lite or nokia6 would go touch the 150£ mark on Black friday

This is a good price, so heat added, but the reviews of this (and the other low end Android Nokias) aren't great.

Yeah, hesitating myself as I'm not sure whether to spend a tad more and get something better. I can't find anything better for this price.

There are good bad reviews on everything but remember the reviews are of this phone at £200 ish not £100 You can get a much better Chinese phone if you can live without the warranty it's all personal preference.

heat, but sadly only 16gb

All pay as you go are unlocked at Carphone Warehouse, been buying there for years

Checking TopCashback shows £5 PAYG handsets.
Checking Quidco shows £5 PAYG plus (opt in £2.50 extra cashback valid till sat)

I checked EE Upgrade, put in my PAYG EE mobile number and it wanted to send sms text to it to confirm. This will bypass £10 topup.

This or the Motorola e4 which can be had direct from Motorola for £109 with code ukwelcome10?

Incorrect.

Is this the dual SIM version? Doesn't say anything in the description, so probably not?

The Nokia 5 is significantly better than the E4.

NFC does work, at least it does on mine.

The multi-tasking problem was introduced in 7.1.2, so I would recommend not allowing the phone to update until they get a software fix out.

My comment was based on your comments. Sounds you managed to go back to an earlier Android version.

There are instructions on XDA to install the original factory ROM, for those that need to return to 7.1.1.

Don't forget to register and upload you receipt for the promotion that carphone have going on. I got an instant win of £3 coffee voucher. But you can win other things.

Tempting for youngest's upgrade.
Saving on the P8 Lite without much compromise?

I wrote previously but no reply.
Can a Price Match be done with John Lewis?

I'd probably go for this. Nokia 5 will be getting Android 8 before the end of the year

This seems an amazing price for what you get - a half decent camera, fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon CPU and a decent build quality. The icing on the cake is it's practically stock Android.

I'm sure you can get some Chinese imports with better specs but as far as high street deals and warranties and reliable software are concerned this seems like a steal...

This is an amazing feeling/looking phone for the money. Apart from the huge old school bezels, or "places for fingers to go", it looks and feels like any top flight phone. There's nothing super special about it though. It is very nice to have android without any Samsung crap all over it.

Some numpty questions on this

Went into the CPW shop and was shown the phone - £109 payg, or £169 sim free.

My question to the assistant was if I buy this as a EE payg, could I then put my existing contract EE card into it and use those contract minutes and data. Her answer as that she couldn't answer or advise on that as it was 'box breaking' so, would by existing card work? Would seem counter intuitive if it did, as it would seem to cut across the £169 sim free price!

Second, my existing EE is up for upgrade, but if I went down the upgrade route to save the £10 top up card would I be tying myself back into a new EE contract? Don't want that, and if there's any risk would rather pay the £10.

Double checking that it's unlocked, as next step is to scan for a good low user contract.

Thanks for any help on the above.

Whats the headphone volume like? I noticed on some cheaper phones headphone volume is low even on max volume. No good for me when im at the gym.

The phone is unlocked, so you can use whichever SIM you like. CPW are simply trying to get you to spend more money.

The upgrade is for Pay As You Go users only. You can't use a contract SIM to buy a PAYG upgrade deal.

If you buy the phone on PAYG from CPW, you can simply dump the SIM it comes with and use your own.

Couple of questions if anyone can help. I'm looking to replace my Honor 5X. So...

* Is this a Dual SIM device with a dedicated (not shared) SD card slot?
* What's the battery management like? Does it kill apps that drain the battery on the quiet?

rodman18 h, 30 m ago

That's just iphones

720p display on a 5+ inch phone in 2017 = instant dealbreaker IMO
