Hot! Great price for the specs and quality BUT.....
Why did they have to make it bigger?? We are inundated with phablet size phones. I can't believe that the manufacturers can't produce something of this quality in a smaller ( sub 150 mm) package at this price point.
Gonna need a bigger jacket.

I like. Wish they'd gone with snappy 710 though. Hard to recommend this over the 8.1 which does have 710 (and fast charging), for £30 more
Looks good OP

I wonder have Nokia changed their stance on dual SIM in the UK market? This one being UK model dual SIM? Usually they are imports from HK and have the same UK plug

Clove aren't generally the best for specs tbh. But on this occasion they seem OK to me, so maybe they have.

Aye, the 8.1 is there for big hands, the 7.1 was generally for smaller hands, seems a shame they've gone this route

Not only that, modem is worse than some competitors (eg Mate 20 Lite)

8.1's price due to fall soon, it'll be cheaper than this

The camera MAY be better on this though. 48MP with pixel binning and a night mode (though no OIS so nothing is certain). That said, TechRadar reckon the wide angle is not so good and the cmaera software a bit laggy. So....

I thought the 7.1 camera was well thought of? It was the battery that put me off,

No the 7 Plus didn't have OIS, only the 8 Scirroco with the same camera set up but OIS added.

No, it's better, battery larger but screen bigger too. Problem is, 7.1 at around £150 is better value for money
Mid-range phones with OIS are few and far between, and only just starting to come through with the likes of the One Vision being one of the very first as far as I recall (and the Moto G7 Plus perhaps that's what you were thinking of @xavierluther ?) unless there are any Xiaomi or Oppo or the like that slipped under my radar.

Electronic sorry, and optical zoom, same cameras as Sirocco except that. That's what made it one of best in mid-range

No, I was thinking of optical zoom, another thing usually confined to pricier phones (last year)
Was watching the Techspurt bloke on YouTube having a play with this Nokia at the German phone show .... Looks pretty nice. I'm sure it'll be cheaper from Carphone Warehouse and Amazon seems to fluctuate prices with the Nokia stuff

Heat added as always :-)
Have Xiaomi got a 4gb ram phone with this processor? Note 6 ?

Still using my Sony XZ1 Compact, especially when I go running. I laugh to myself when I see people with armbands with what looks like a hardback book stuffed inside! Compact phones fulfil a very popular niche but I guess it's the usual battery trade-off, Sony got it right but there comes a point where there isn't space for a big battery and high-end specs.

Phones are looking a bit generic these days - I'm usually pretty good at working out what a phone is at a glance but I'd struggle with some of the 2018/9 handsets.

Your so right about phones looking generic. :
For those here wanting a top spec but smaller phone, the Xperia 5 (aka Xperia 1 Compact) has been announced.

SD 636 has good reputation, I believe

I mean, don't expect either an always lag-free phone for £150

Nice spec. I do like the Nokia phones glad they got it back from Microsoft and seeing some good phones again.
If it's PWM free it's on my shortlist.

I really hope so especially when other brands are bringing their dual SIM phones to the UK for the same price (Motorola and even Samsung).
Now up on Amazon too for £258 odd, appears to be dual SIM
