Purchased the Nokia 7.2 via eBay from the UK seller "softpriced" who have a 99.7% rating and over 12000 reviews. Arrived within two days by Parcel Force. They have the "Make an Offer" option enabled and I cheekily offered £150 and got accepted.

The phone is marketed as "Opened Never Used" and I have no reason to doubt this, as all accessories were sealed and never used, also the phone had the cellophane covers on. Also came with a free genuine Nokia clear case in its own separate packaging which usually retails for around £15!

Very impressed with the phone, it got some poor reviews by the press, but I think this was due to the original price and the overall value it offered when on sale for £299. But paying £150 for the phone, I am extremely impress!

The 6.2in HD LCD screen seems very bright and vivid. Cut above LCD screens I've seen on other phone and with metal/glass casing has an extremely premium feel.

The photos are very decent and the triple Zeiss Optic lens on the rear which includes a 48MP main shooter and an 8MP ultra-wide (I think the other is a 5MP Depth Sensor), and has a 20MP front camera.

The phone has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor, everything seems to run extremely smoothly. I play few games, but use it lots for web browsing, and apps like Outlook, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Music, mobile banking, etc...

Upon turning the phone on it immediately updated to Android 10 and the latest security patch, it is guaranteed to get Android 11 under the Android One scheme which guarantees two software updates and month security patches for three years from the release date of the phone.

Everyone uses their phone for different things and have different expectations, so I am reluctant to recommend anything but from my experience I am very happy... The LCD screen is lovely and clear, the glass front and back really makes it feel premium. As long as you don't use demanding gaming apps, I don't think you'll have any issues, it loads everything I use very quickly.

I am just a point shoot kind of photo taker and the images so far all seem very good, natural colour and very vivid.

I am a fan of plain android without of these additional extras some manufacturers put into the software which are usually unnecessary, and can slow a phone down. As this is an Android One phone this is exactly what you get and like how it will be supported and get new updated.

The only negative I can think of is, the fingerprint reader (while accurate), always seems to take a second or two to unlock the phone, while other phones do this near instantaneous. But I am being very picky to even mention that.
Looks a bit like OnePlus 7T lol

Try Gcam and see how you get on. Most certain you'll like night shots much more.
If Mr Switch is listening or if you have experienced of these phones which one would you recommend?

G8 lite isn't particularly great for £150 it's main selling point is the battery

Not sure what your Mum's general usage is but you might be ok with Nokia 2.3 from Amazon £99.... 2gb only but will do the basics and you'll get regular updates

Moto G8 lite on offer at £129 I think so possibly at that price

Drop them a message, might be an issue with eBay working that out.

They might be able to work around it. I thought postal costs were the same for Mainland UK and NI?

I second that. Nokia hai really good sensors but their app is rubbish. With gcam I get really quality pictures on my Nokia 7 plus

Go for the Nokia. It'll be supported for longer with regards to OS updates.
I bought one of these from Argos back in January or February for £220. It's not a bad phone, but doesn't feel 'premium' in the way the older aluminium-bodied phones from the year before did. Also whilst it's supports adoptable storage, I've found that playing music from a memory card formatted as internal simply doesn't work - thankfully with 64GB storage I can manage without a memory card.

Assuming they really are in 'new' condition then the price is very good, however it all depends on the review of the new 5.3 which should be available from today for about a tenner less whether this remains the better phone, considering the new one will be getting Android 12 and this won't.
Hey guys/expert's, best phone for £160 or less at this moment in time ????? Could anyone make some suggestions please ??? All the best Thanks!!!
Good deal, heated. I recently purchased a 7.2 from Argos (this deal) to switch to from my 7 Plus. Hard to say if it's strictly an upgrade as on paper there's a lot of similarity, however.....

Things I'm liking compared to my 7 Plus so far:

* Notification light within the power button. Haven't had a notification light on a phone for a while....do I need one?
* Ambient screen
* Wi-Fi calling with Three (most networks support this)
* Weight - although similar to the 7 Plus the way it's distrubuted must be different as it feels lighter to hold.
* Cameras - definite improvement and having the wide angle lens is cool. A centred selfie camera for video calls is a basic thing too but makes a difference.
* FM radio!
* In theory at least one extra major Android version upgrade compared to the 7 Plus and a longer period for security updates

Things I'm not overly impressed with:

* No fast charging
* Build quality is nice but not quite that same level premium feel.
* Finger print reader - a little slower which is a shame.
* You're forced to move to either full gesture control or 2 button navigation. In Android 10 on the 7 Plus you could still go back to the three button way. (After using 2 button now it's quite good!)
* Dedicated Assistant button

Depends really what you are willing to buy...

If you want brand new sealed box, or happy with a refurb or refurbished phone... Happy to buy from China or only from the UK?...

I have this Nokia 7.2 and very pleased and an excellent all rounder, provided you’re not a serious gamer playing the latest 3D games will serve you well.

There was a post on HUKD the other day for the LG G6 which is a former flagship phone for £129, the phone was new, but released two and half years ago. It won’t get any new updates beyond Android 9, but has excellent cameras with optical image stabilisation, and the processor still gives mid-range like the Nokia 7.2 a run for their money.

If you buy from China you could get a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, which on paper is probably the best specced phone for this price. But run the risks if a problem occurs having to return it to China, possible import fees and no NFC. The same phone from UK sellers is around £230.

Thanks for your expert input mate, the phone is for my Cousin and he isn't comfortable with a handset from China unfortunately, but he should be ok with a open box product like this, if you were gonna recommend a uk phone for this money what would it be ?
Thanks again mate!

Hi,

Coukd you tell me if the call volume is low? I have hearing problems and there are so e reviews saying there's a problem with call volume. Howwver a lot of phonesseem to have at least some reviews saying the same thing. Don't know if it's a modern issue. My current handset is a Galaxy S3!
