Well, one off instances do happen with every warranty. Microsoft has my controller for 4 weeks now and still no clue whats happening.
Atleast they refunded in 6 weeks. Microsoft doesnt even care.
Amazon would replace/refunded on the day or soon as it's returned to the warehouse. JL had to be chased every other week to get anywhere.
I guess the lesson i have learnt is to have a backup and that way no need to chase anyone and just use the backup. No company is perfect. Neither is Amazon. Nor is Microsoft. Nor John Lewis.
But if you can find a high street store that offers better warranty and service than John Lewis, I would be really surprised. And you get 2 years warranty with one and 1 years with one is a deal breaker for me, just for the extra 1 year peace of mind if something fails after 12 months. As simple as that.
The phone comes with a two year manufacturer warranty. I'm not sure what John Lewis' procedures would be if it developed a fault but personally I'd rather trust Amazon.
Read here my experiences with repair of a Nokia 8: hotukdeals.com/com…391
You have 2 year guarantee from nokia anyway, no matter where You buy.
Sorry for your experience but people always post when they have problems and not when things are working fine. So again its an electrical device and some fail.
When i had a problem with my phones, i just took them to John Lewis and they got ut sorted in a couple of weeks so have always been good for me. No need to contact manufacturer, pack it, send it, track it and so on.
Just take it to the local store
Pretty sure any Nokia 8 is dual SIM, it just takes up the micro SD slot
Not the case I'm afraid, my Nokia 8 128gb is single sim.
Well that'll show me
I've got a 64GB which has dual SIM support
Did you buy it from cpw or Jl ?

All EU law is going to be transposed into UK law.
Totally wrong, we have consumer rights which cover up to 6 years which is in fact better than than the EU directive which the UK
didn't implement. The website you pointed to was dated 2010 so you might want to check your facts are up to date beofre posting misleading information
Only just had a refund for the Lenovo laptop miss price farce.
One year.
It's on the Android One program. So like the Pixel phones you get two years of OS updates as well as montly security updates.

Edit...
Apologies. I confused this phone with the 'Nokia 8 Sirocco' which is using Android One.
The Nokia 8 isn't Android One
No HDMI out AFAIK as this is quite rare on Android anyway, and Nokia don't add things like DeX off their own back, since Nokias use pretty much stock Android - which doesn't even support Miracast.
If by RSAP you mean contact sharing via Bluetooth then the Nokia 8 asks if you want to share contacts with Bluetooth devices when you pair.
Jl are like all the rest and will try to wriggle out of it if they can, they messed me around with a price match refund for ages.
Can anyone who bought from JL confirm if you got a dual SIM version?
Wow that's incredible. Didn't know it was on one. Are all Nokia phones on one?
It seems that there has been some success using displaylink usb-c to hdmi but it's somewhat unreliable.

It's not part of android one program
As a couple of posters have said, this definitely is not on Android One. This year's Nokia releases are, though.
Yhh thanks for that clarification. I did a bit of googling and found out. But yhh they've partnered up for this year tho. So let's see how that goes. I'll probably stick with my Redmi Note 4 until the end of the year before spending a decent bit on an upgrade and I'm particularly interested to see how the Android P update goes for the upcoming/current generation of Nokias (Srirocco - something like that, 7 plus, 6 (2018)).
You can verify this promise here at 41:00 where HMD confirm the current Nokia 3 - 8 devices will get the Android P update
