Not seen these any cheaper, mind I haven't really been looking!

Decent spec and almost vanilla android. Nokia flagship for decent money
Both colours available

Not so sure about the seller because I haven't used them before but could be worth a punt

These are good smartphones, tried myself in a local store somewhere. But …These are good smartphones, tried myself in a local store somewhere. But my latest iPhone every year cost the same as that. People complain how much the iPhone X is but several years ago i bought the latest iPhone and every year I sell it and upgrade. It only cost me 350 to 400 a year. This is a good phone with stock android but once you buy a iPhone outright you can upgrade it for this type of price every year!

or you can upgrade to this one from Iphone for £0... like I did.... and didnt look back...

I got very close to buying this phone, but a snafu involving EE meant that I ended up getting Galaxy S8 on the cheap instead.

You get a very decent phone for the money here. But if you're OK with a contract you can get this for £25 a month less cashback pretty easily with an 8GB data contract on Three too.
A little more on amazon (£399), but perhaps a little easier to return if you have any problems? amazon.co.uk/dp/…DG0
It's an okay phone generally but for the money it's a great phone. I paid £360 from CPW before Christmas. It's updated very promptly, and the screen is good. I moved from a Huawei P9 and TBH I preferred the Huawei- it was lighter and had a better camera but had fallen foul of a battery issue that seems to be rather common on Huawei devices, and which put me off spending a few quid more on the P10.

Chinese grey import.
Is this a UK phone though? Being dual sim? Will nokia support it if any issues
You can get these in CEX in grade A (light used) for £265 with a two year warranty. Not new like this deal, but potentially less risky?

As it happens I effectively swapped my S8 for this

Oreo has a few quirks that need fixing but overall it's my favourite Android phone of last year. I bought the 128GB model for £419 from CPW.

I owned the P9 for many months last year and the camera on this is loads better - the problem being that the stock Nokia app is awful for anything but Ozo audio recording in the video player.

There's a site with constantly updated Pixel APK ports from which you can easily install that and it makes the camera actually fantastic. Unfortunately I can't link to it on here but it's readily available on XDA Developers. Even the Pixel portrait mode now works great.

Got one last week for £285 from them, looks and works like new.

Fair enough.

In the end, the bezels killed it for me.

I know it's unimportant to most people and it is silly, but having the S8 in my hand confirms my hatred for Bezels all the more.

If it wasn't for that I'd have saved my cash and went for the Nokia as otherwise nowadays all high end phones are very similar, and Nokia has almost pure stock Android, which is far preferable than battling TouchWiz!

Bezels or not I found the S8 harder to use, throw about and enjoy because of its lack of them - and the broader impact that it had of leaving the fingerprint scanner a tiny rectangle near the rear camera. On that subject, I found all the biometrics to be useless too, but that could just be me. The S8 is definitely a nicer object but I find the Nokia 8 to be smoother and faster, it has practically stock Oreo, better battery life, a better camera (with the Pixel APK) and the added benefit of twice the internal storage - which is useful for my commute where I download a lot of iPlayer, All4 etc.

Each to their own though, it's just my personal choice having owned all of last year's Galaxy devices up to the Note 8.

As I said, by all other metrics the Nokia makes more sense, but the screen.

Watching Archer on Netflix on the full screen is something the Nokia just cannot touch. But yes, the fingerprint scanner is annoying coming from the better placed LG G5, and Touchwiz is...Touchwiz.

However the thing is fast as I want and managed 5:30 SOT on a full charge to 0, so while not quite Nokia standard (I know it can do 6-7hrs SOT), it's way better than my G5 managed.

Edit: Both devices were 64GB at the pricing levels I wanted, but at least the S8 has a MicroSD slot.

The Nokia has one too. Problem is a lot of download services don't allow SD card usage so you have to rely on internal storage. I watch an awful lot of media online but I don't really care how big the screen is as it's only ever stuff I'm just watching for the sake of passing the time - if it's anything special it's on my TV. I don't even mind watching YouTube, random Netflix and iPlayer content on a 4" iPhone SE to be honest. A lot of the time I'm more listening than watching

If I were after the biggest screen I could get in the smallest area then a Samsung makes sense, but I'm also not a big fan of AMOLED either as it tends to give me a headache after a while. Screen size is an odd one for me as I don't find browsing or tweeting or looking on here any better on a giant screen as I do on a 5.2" screen - and in fact I find typing harder on giant screens. For that reason I preferred the standard S8 over the S8 Plus and the Note 8. It also has an easier to reach fingerprint scanner for me.
