Code doesn't work on phones does it?

Ah I see the post has been updated now
Edited by: "darynq" 8th Aug
That's very tempting. Do these need a special charger? Or will any with a USB-C cable work? (My current phone is about 4 years old, all this USB-C and quick charge is new to me).
Type c is amazing. I won't buy micro usb phone ever again
It's fast it's safe n it doesn't break in 6 months
I have 3 years old phone still working without any charging issues
Cables cheap as £2 but decent ones around £4/£5 which last a year easily

Any USBC, the charger is more important. It's impossible to find a Nokia oem qc3.0; I actually just emailed them to find out where I can get one. It's a ad-18wx / fc0301 for the UK version. I'm using an Anker qc3.0 charger from Amazon at the moment.
tempted with this, Is the 7 Plus better?

You can get Samsung cables for £2.50ish on Amazon.

Not for gaming or processor grunt. For battery life, screen size and if you want a zoom lens then yes. The camera is possibly slightly better on the 7 Plus on stock, but you can add the pixel camera HDR+ mod which works wonders.

The 7 Plus is bigger and heavier too, if that's important to you. Different strokes for different folks and all that...

Have a look at the Redmi Note 5, its not a flagship.... more higher end midrange due to great screen, good battery and latest SD636 SoC but would make a good OP3 replacement and is great value

thanks man, thats more along the lines what i was looking for, The nokia 8 bezels were off putting.

Which is the best Xaomi phone for under £230?
Although most won't care I think after a year you'd be wishing you had something with more screen to body ratio

Indeed, faster and both sides no.messimg around in the dark, I couldn't go back either just waiting for PS4 controller to.be usb typc c now annoying having to use different
the Xiaomi range is pretty bewildering to be honest but the Redmi Note 5 is pretty standout at around £150 from china or £199 from Amazon

(Redmi 5 Pro is known in the UK as Redmi Note 5 for some bizarre reason)
Its easy to spot from the lower spec Non Pro/Note version as it has dual cameras compared to the basic Redmi 5's single camera)

6" 18x9 FHD+ screen
Snapdragon 636 14nm SoC
4Gb Ram
64Gb Storage
13/5Mp dual rear 20mp front cameras
4000MaH battery

Only negative is MicroUSB not UCB-C Sadly

Good review here

LG G5 refurb, 8£ new battery for around £130 is quicker... Might be good options for some
Thanks for all the help,

What would peoples first choice be for a phone under £250 (from ebay so can use voucher)

I like the Nokia 8, im not discounting it, but i prefer the looks of the 18:9 devices with less bezel. I wont be playing games so CPU performance not that important. Something that feels well made is though

It doesn't have a 'great' screen. It's good...but I actually prefer the screen on my old Redmi Note 3 Pro. It was easier to read in lower brightness.

I prefer the dimensions on the Note 5 though...

I doubt it these are genuine samsung cables. Some of these are advertised as genuine on eBay for only £0.99, I am sure these are fake. So difficult to know what is genuine or not, buying from the manufacturer directly the price is much higher. For fast charging, is not only the charger, is the cable itself as well. The Maplin cables I've got are fine but do not support fast charging. I use my samsung fast charger and it takes so much longer to charge.

The Samsung fast charger I have is rated lower than the Nokia charger spec so that may be it.
Also look for best phone under £250 is this Nokia 8 going to be the one

From what I read it improves normal shots but the Nokia doesn't work well with low light or movement. I'm starting to think a used s7 edge is the best I can get for under £200.

On desktop version I can't change my location to USA, even if I fill in the required details with a random USA address. Can anyone help ore recommend a free VPN for Windoes 10 that may be worth a try?

You don't need to do that - read the linked to post - RTFM!
You have to change your registered address to do it, not use a VPN.

I tried out the apk on a Nokia 8 in low indoor light (8pm summer evening) - the results were pretty impressive to me.

Appreciate the response, I’ll delete my original post as someone else on another post solved the issue for me after someone else recommended trying the VPN method. Thanks though

My 8 is a UK version from November 2017 and the battery easily lasts a day with gaming and eBay and browsing. Almost two if I'm careful. So not really an issue.

It isn't an issue. The battery lasts really well, much better than I expected. Easily lasts a day off heavy use.

Yes, it would last longer if they fitted a bigger battery. Who'd have thunk it?
It charges to 80% in around 30mins so realistically no one is going to care?

Funnily enough Poor battery life is one of the most common complaints people make about phones....

Each to their own though, personally I'd rather carry a phone around that is 1mm thicker and weighs 30g or so more and have a 2-3 day battery without having to think about if my battery will last until i can next get to a mains socket.
