As per post title, think this may be cheapest you can get official UK stock Nokia 8 right now. £15pm rolling contract you can cancel straight away and £359.99 for the phone, with O2 or Vodafone.

Still think the 128gb for £449 is better value

A bit off topic but is there a sim where you can pay £10 (or whatever amount) for Data, Texts and Minutes that doesn't expire?

That's cool, but I just read it and it says it's more suited for tablets, dongles and MiFi devices rather than smartphones. Does it still work as a sim card?

I've been using it for nearly two years in a phone.
it's basically a 123 sim with a free 200mb. I only to up £2 at a time and only done that twice all the time I've had the sim.
I started the first thread for it on here if you want to take a look.

Cool, do you know if I keep the initial £10 as credit?

Ticks all the boxes, but that camera oh dear oh dear and for that reason I'm out.

What's wrong with the camera?

I own one btw so maybe you could be quite specific.

Well I'm critical because the camera is OK it would have been excellent a few years ago. However I guess it's right in saying that this is the camera you expect for this price. Nothing special, does the job, there's a lot better than it though, but most of the time you pay more. The selfie camera is excellent on the Nokia 8. Maybe they can improve the camera performance with software updates. I believe the camera sensor is the Sony IMX258 which is now a midrange sensor and isn't as good as the IMX398 in the Huawei P10. All three cameras on the Nokia 8 use the IMX258.

Anyway you'll find a fair few reviews where they say the dual camera setup is OK but behind the competition, and this review seems to love the phone, and doesn't like the Nokia camera software, which can of course be updated if 'Nokia' so choose.

Nokia 8 OR LG G6?
G6 got better camera and Nokia got stock (nearly) Android. Confused 🤔

Well you can always add the Google launcher to make the G6 more like stock. Personally whilst I like the best camera, I think I'd actually err to the Nokia due to LG quality track record - although my wife's G2 lasted around 4 years before it died. Decisions decisions decisions...

The Nokia 8 has the better chipset (Snap 835 versus Snap 821). I have a Sony XZ and even that with a Snapdragon 820 isn't fast enough for me, which is why I'm biding my time over the XZ1 (has Snap 835 and Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box). I've already seen it get a big price drop used, so come January should be nearer £300 and then I'm getting one. The choice for me if I was given the choice of G6 versus Nokia 8 would be get the Nokia 8.

I've not found Sony phones to be very inspiring, their on paper specs don't seem to translate to much in the real world. Not keen on the ultra square look and their (old) skin over android looked cheap as anything. Maybe they've improved, but they'd have to be a real steal for me to consider again (which my z1 was, but wasn't any better in the real world than a Moto g2, so sold it in less than a year, and very nearly got my money back for what I paid)

I've been impressed by the Sony XZ. I got it as a cheap replacement for my Galaxy S6, it makes the S6 seem really slow and laggy. The design of the phone has massive bezels at the top and the bottom. I had a choice pay about nearly £50pm for an S8. I was paying about £33pm for S6. I phoned EE got SIM only with more data for £19pm and bought the XZ for £179. It's not an S8 but it's not an S6 which makes me happy. The S6 was a piece of crap. XZ1 is already less than £400 used so by next year will be getting nearer £300, I'll still be paying £19pm for unlimited texts, minutes and 17GB of data. It's currently £21pm for unlimited texts, mins and 18GB data. So I'm always going SIM free now and buying a used phone, cheapest way to do it, saving so much money doing it this way.

That's how I did it, 60 day warranties with Smartfonestore but even their grade C stuff is mint. You could use Music Magpie or CEX as well.

The best selling point of Nokia Android phones is that they receive monthly Android security updates as soon as Google publish them. I have a Nokia 8 and it has all of the updates up to and including the 1st of October 2017 security update. I would be more confident doing online banking on a Nokia phone than I would on a Huawei phone. Huawei phones only very rarely receive security updates.

Nah - ~£75 for the extra 64GB when you could get a 64GB card for under £20? No-one has over 64GB of apps surely and a card is absolutely fine for anything else.

For most people the 64gb phone is perfect (it's even £40 lower on mobiles.co.uk at the moment.... Cracking deal that), but there aren't a lot of 128gb 6gb ram phone out there at £450. I used to hit 3gb ran usage easily on my previous phone which means I've future proofed this now for weighty games. Also if you want to use the other slot for a sim, you're not restricted on space like you would be as I was for my previous phone. Horses for courses...

Yes, I think for majority of users the 64GB will be fine, but serious gamers maybe not (I don't know many/any people who use their phones for anything but casual gaming)

no idea seems to be common in phones released in the uk market. most eu models of huawei's are dual sim but the uk versions eg p10 lite has had the second sim slot disabled.

for those that have purchased this can you recommend a case & tempered glass screen protector?
thanks!

Just posted a better deal on this still (and on e on the Nokia 6 too) - did anyone bite and has Carphone Warehouse paid on the cashback?
