Nokia 8 at John Lewis for £399.95 reduced from £499.95

I missed the Nokia 8 when it was around £400 at Christmas, John Lewis have reduced it to £399.95 and Very have it at £399.99. John Lewis do the two year warranty while Very do a year's interest free credit. I went for the longer warranty but it's horses for courses.
I realise there's reductions because the phone could be due for replacement etc but a good phone doesn't become a bad phone overnight just because it's not this week's thing (in my way of thinking). So while the replacement may have a Snapdragon 845 processor or whatever you're not going to get it at this price.

The only "downside" this phone has got is the people will know you're a pleb when you use it because the screen doesn't go all the way to the egde

You'll have the last laugh tho, knowing you'll be able to hold your phone like a normal person without accidentally pressing things

And you'll have saved a few hundred quid compared to the wonderous bezel-less phones with the same or lesser spec.

I was going to post this, but I still think this phone is way overpriced, although it is a really nice phone, you can get better now, currently for under £400.
5p cheaper?
Wow ! What a saving ! (Whose idiotic idea was this ? An attempt to get the highest MINUS score ?)
Oh and it's a 4p saving not 5

This has very good specs and reviews, even though it does look a little dated with the larger bezels compared to some of the other phones with similar specs at this price range now (honor view 10 is the one I've been looking for but missed the previous JL deal).

Glad to see Nokia after the symbian and Windows disaster.

Edit:
Sorry, didn't realise it was only 4p off, not really a deal then.

People are misreading the deal, it was previously £499.95, it's now £399.95, that's £100 off, £399.99 is the next lowest price as asked for when originally posting.

You meant underpriced?

This is a hell load of the phone for £400. Bear in mind that other flagships starts £100 more.

Regarding this deal. It's nothing special as it was for £360 for a long time.

It was cheaper I think before Christmas. But it's a good price if someone needs to buy a new phone right now.

Otherwise I'd wait until the next phone from OnePlus (which will be around £500) or the next Nokia. They'll probably come with treble (liberty is updates) even though it might be £100 more expensive.
£40 cheaper at smartfonestore

Edit: Also Nokia's MWC event is this afternoon so it might be worth holding off for a few more hours if you're considering this.

Personally I'd prefer this ratio display and have speedy security and OS updates. But I'm curious to see what Nokia show this week at MWC
Agreed I would wait to later today to see what's new in Nokia

These have been overpriced since launch imo, I expected all Nokias to be cheaper then all the rest of the manufacturers out there, but I was sadly mistaken, I was hoping they were gonna go the route of oneplus, but again they're just trying to compete in a greedy world, they should have offered this at £400 from the start and i think more people would have adopted it, it would now be down to £300, and would be selling well, so yes overpriced
John Lewis don't give a toss if your phone doesn't work properly, they'll send it to the manufacturer to fix over and over again irrespective of whether they were already supposes to have fixed the issue, you can spend months without the device you ordered and JL will do nothing to help you whatsoever.
Do not buy phones from JL thinking the warranty / customer service is worth anymore than anywhere else, I've have much better experiences with CPW than JL when it comes to faulty phones.

Great phone better than the last lot of Samsung & iPhone not much in it for latest flagships either bargain compared to those which are rip off
Why do people want bezel less phones so much ? Each to their own but don't get the big deal tbh

Bezels for TV's, Monitors, etc, are pointless to the viewer. With phones, a bit of bezel helps handle the phone but I do think the less bezel the better they look. Eventually they'll just be transparent screens

I was surprised to hear this as I've had generally good experiences with John Lewis. But I've never bought a phone from them. May I ask, was yours an expensive one and what was the fault? Was it eventually resolved?
I was considering buying a phone from JL precisely because of their reputation for good service, but your experiences have put me off - that's why I'm interested! Many thanks

But all of the Nokia phones are really cheap.

This is top range with SD835 - the fastest procesor at the time. 4/6GB ram available.
Comes with pure android which makes it extremely fast in real life usage, not just on benchmarks.

At the same time this is cheapest flagship so I don't really get your point.

I actually own one since December and can tell that this is the best flagship I ever had plus monthly updates makes it just even better.
Currently on official oreo 8.1, security patch February.

How many other flagships currently running latest android and getting monthly updates?
I don't think you do really see my point.....
So instead of explaining myself again, I'll just go in to a darkened room and take in what you have said.

(I JUST EXPECTED NOKIA TO BE MUCH CHEAPER)

Just my opinion, hence why I think they are overpriced.

This is my opinion, so I'm not getting into a discussion with clearly a die hard fan of this phone brand.
Because I have better things to do in my life, but I appreciate your loyalty with Nokia.
Whilst perhaps not the cheapest deal we have seen on here for the Nokia 8, good effort op and thanks for taking the time to share it
Your opinion makes no sense.

I think that was the issue.

On the contrary, I returned my week old Honor 9 to John Lewis. It had a scrolling delay, which a Google search revealed is a common bug. Was offered a refund with no hassle whatsoever.

I had a issue with a Sony phone. Stratford sent it to their repair agent who had it for 6 weeks. Eventually they refunded after I chased them several times when the expected repair date breached by two weeks. JL customer services wasn't that brilliant in my eyes.

That is poor. Seems like the service is very much dependent on branch!

On the bright side it's only the opinion of strangers on the internet, Donny Trump is the only one who takes them all to heart and earmarks people for retribution at a later date. Perhaps I could have made the saving clearer in the original post.
