Its a steel.

Damn, this will be near £300 by black Friday!

I jumped in on the affordable mobile deal, no great loss as needed a cheap SIM also and 3 network is fortunately useable in Slough area.

I've been using my Nokia 8 for just over a month now and can honestly say it's the best phone I've ever had and I've owned/tried a few.

I was desperately avoiding the pointless edge screens as have major palm check issues with them so would have had to disable it anyway.

Prefer a bit of a bezel so I can hold the phone freely.

Camera hardware is superb, only let down by stock android camera app. Pixel APK improves it.

Screen is absolutely gorgeous, even though it's not amoled (which isn't always a great thing, see pixel2, LG v30, iPhone X screen issues).
5.3" screen on Nokia actually feels the same, if not larger than 5.5" screen on my G4, as Nokia has dedicated hard back/home/task buttons which don't eat in to the screen area when browsing/navigating the phone.

Nokia 8 is the best value for money sd835 phone in my opinion.

IP68 over IP54 would have been icing on the cake but I got nationwide flexplus insurance which covers any such eventualities.

Nokia give 2 year warranty too. LG could learn a thing or two (yes I had a G4 that boot looped)

I've been giving the Nokia 8 much praise because it truly is a hidden gem under £400 (wasn't so at it's RRP of £500), I have absolutely no intention of selling mine and no, I don't work for Nokia

Incredible price really. This is almost Chinese site pricing for what is on a par with the current flagship phones.

Is all a gray area to me!

Not for me, but good price for sd835 in here.

Ooh, this is interesting! My Xiaomi redmi note 4 has gone faulty so I'm a bit down on the Chinese imports so might consider this instead.

Then again, I could buy three of the xiaomi phones for the same price.

Hmm.

Got the phone a couple of days ago. Delighted with it so far. As above, essentially an elite-tier phone at mid-tier price. For me that means £22pm for unltd/unltd/5GB data with EE, no upfront cost.

A very good alternative to the S8 and I imagine they'll take a fair chunk of the market with their first Android Nokia.

Got this for my parents on the Mobilephonesdirect deal the other day with the cash back (£75) .
£453 in total , 24 months unlimited mins , text , 4GB data on three . Is a very quick and smooth phone to use . When you take phone cost off the total price you get 24 months of unlimited minutes, text and 4GB of data each month for around £60 for 24 months . Not sure if this deals is still available.

£365 Is the cheapest I have seen this for.

You could buy three but if you are comparing it to the redmi note 4 then its not a fair comparison as that is a very decent budget phone! I got my dad the note 4 to replace his nexus 5 and it seems great, they are a bargain for what they are.

A fairer comparison would be the Xiaomi Mi6 which is around £300 (not including tax, most of the time you're lucky with import charges though). So £89 difference but the Nokia 8 has a better camera, screen and all round build so its easy to sell that £89 especially with the warranty.

You cant go wrong with any of them though to be honest, you know yourself that the redmi note 4 is a great level but these should be a significant step up but its up to you to justify the cost in the end.

I am waiting for the 128Gb version tbh to go down. Coupled with 6Gb RAM it is a future proof as you can get with this phone.

Yeah, thanks. I have had flagships in the past, last one being a galaxy s6 but I replaced that in the summer with my Redmi note 4.

The screen has gone wrong (long story) and while I'm taking that up with the seller via ali express, I'm somewhat pessimistic of getting anywhere.

I guess I quickly discovered that I don't need a flagship spec phone but I do want a really good camera.

I was thinking the same. Even if it lasted a year or just over, at the price you can't complain... But I'd hate to have to lose any data from my phone, especially from WhatsApp as I use it for work purposes. I know data can never be 100% safe, but do I wanna risk it over a phone with UK warranty...

Although I'm not in a big rush to get a new phone but it's getting difficult to hang on till Black Friday.
This price for this phone is quite nice but I'd prefer the s8 plus really.

Does it run hot? I tend to prefer 6 series snapdragons over 8 series as every 8 series phone I've had turns into a mobile BBQ under load.

How good is the camera on this? Is the phone waterproof? Thanks

not waterproof splash proof IP54 rating.
camera does not have great reviews..... compared to other flagships

Nokia trying to muscle in with extremely competitive pricing. Don't worry, the new Nokia 8 will be £800, just to be like Google. And then another company will fill the void.

Not at all. Hardly even gets warm, hence getting 2 days battery life with normal usage.

It has a crazy heat pipe construction in the all aluminium body.

Camera hardware is excellent, unfortunately let down by the stock android camera app.

How did you get that deal?

My existing contract with EE was within the last 30 days so due an upgrade anyway. Called them and asked for my PAC straight away. Got the usual "Why are you thinking of leaving us?", then quoted the 3 deal posted a few days ago here -hotukdeals.com/dea…e=5 - as leverage.

Said to them, if you can get close to £20 on your 5GB tariff I'd be happy to stay and they came back with that package, including the usual BT Sport and Apple Music trials.

Was all done in about 10mins.

Excellent phone & post for buying the phone outright. Only thing I would say is that to me it might be worth paying the extra tenner and get the phone from JL if you have one nearby for their excellent CS & return policy.

Nokia make superb high quality durable phones. In my opinion the best.

How long have you been using HMD Global handsets to form this opinion? Or are you talking about the previous Nokia?

Picked up a ‘used good’ one of these from Amazon Warehouse for around £340 so I’ll see what I think. It’ll be the first HMD Phone I have tried so it’ll be nice to see if they’re close to the likes of Samsung, or even OnePlus.
