That is true. But if you have a dual/tri-band wifi router, you can always run both 2.4 and 5.0 using the same SSIDs and therefore the client device prioritises by itself.

Pretty good + app is functioning pretty well from the past few releases. Also, Apple Health compatible.
Save some money and buy a decent non internet connected scales. Track your weight in another health app instead. We’ve had this model for a few years before Nokia took over Withings. We are now so fed up with it we don’t even use it anymore. 2.4Ghz WiFi only is a real pain. Constant sync issues is annoying. Even running latest firmware/software. We’ve gone back to traditional scales and regret wasting money on these.

Nokia now do a scale? Hahah! What’s this world coming to? Nokia will be selling groceries and milk soon and whilst they are at it they could open a butchers! DEAD BRAND!
How can 2.4GHz Wi-Fi be a "real pain"? This has the best coverage (distance from router) and the data is low bandwidth low volume so no need for 5GHz. Have you split your SSIDs as this can cause issue if the same for both bands.
If you mainly use 5Ghz because of performance and then have to switch to 2.4Ghz to try and get the scales working/syncing. 5Ghz provides much better data rates and in congested areas you don’t get as much interference because the WiFi channels don’t overlap and collide with your neighbours.
Why would I need or want wifi in bathroom scales?

Is it meant to come with some app or software? Or is this a device that neglects to include a screen so uses your phone to do that instead?

Need the app. It's great for lazy People who don't like recording in paper etc. But I like it. And it keeps the history well. I only paid 30 though during misprice direct.
You need to install the app for iOS or Android phone to manage it.
I bought them under protest from my wife have to say they are superb and she now agrees

Not my experience at all. I loved my first so much I upgraded to the body+ and gave the old one to the wife. I dont think its actually ever missed a sync and batteries last a year with 2 x weighs a day. I couldn't go back to traditional.

There's a web app too. Mobile app is just one way of accessing it. Mine aggregates with Google fit data

They bought withings. This is a rebranded withings scale.

Apple was a dead brand once.
Reserved mine for pickup. Thanks
