Nokia Lumia 1020 Refurbished 64gb on O2 Refresh, only £240

The O2 refresh details have been posted many times before on here, but here is a fantastic deal for a great phone with a 41 megapixel camera.

Available in black or yellow, this is the 64gb version.

Just wait for the phone to arrive, phone up and request an unlock, then pay off the £240 phone plan and cancel the airtime contract.

Quidco are offering £120 on tariffs over £37, so select the £38 tariff and you could potentially get the phone for £120. This is obviously not guaranteed, but I have two of these O2 refresh deals in the past, have cancelled the contracts immediately and paid off the phones and still received the cashback, but I may just have been lucky!

Still a great deal though, even without the cashback.

Perhaps somebody would be kind enough to add a picture as I'm very new to posting deals.

Thank you for the picture x

Are you sure this will work? If you sign up for £38 a month deal and then cancel, paying the contract up will cost £38 x 24 = £912. Or am I missing something?

Yes you are missing something.

Still using my £190 iPhone 5 from a previous Refresh deal. Must resist, must resist!

It's been said over and over again on here. Yes you can cancel the Refresh tariff as soon as your phone arrives. Simply ring, tell them you're getting cold feet about the contract and want to just pay off the phone side of the contract upfront. They'll charge you £240 plus some pro-rata days for however long you had the contract before cancelling.

£190?! Wasn't it £240? I got the same one last July....unless you found an even cheaper one.

Yes, it does work, the phone plan element of the total monthly cost of £38 is only £10, so £10 x 24 is £240 to pay for the phone. The airtime is £28 per month and can be cancelled as soon as the phone is paid off.

I have used this method twice before and got excellent deals on an Iphone 5 and Galaxy S4.

Cancel when you receive the phone and you only pay the phone plan.

I guess I would need to get this phone unlocked to work on Ovivo?

Yes, I would say so, as Ovivo use Vodafone. From other bits I've read, you can fill in the unlock request form and it will take up to 7 days to unlock.

Sorry did that twice. Thanks Lucieb. Are you saying that O2 will let me unlock the phone? Surely that would be a expensive? I'm no phone expert but how do they make their money?

Found this http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Devices-Nokia-Blackberry/unlock-lumia-1020/td-p/561816

Can't think they'll be making much on this particular deal, but sure they make plenty on all of the others

Thanks. If I order the unlock before I pay off the airtime then I should get it free? If I pay off the airtime first then I suppose they may charge me?

Though you I have used this twice it does seem TGTBT .!!

You're welcome. Yes I would say definately ask for unlock first, although the O2 guys often ask you first if you would like to put the unlock request in first before paying it off, so they are very helpful.

It definately is a genuine deal, the concept having been posted on here many times before. They must rely on a lot of people keeping the airtime contract going to make their money

Cheers. Help appreciated. Now I have to weigh up what to do.mi just got the Xperia Z less than a month ago but I am not over impressed. As a camera buff the 1020 really appeals. Windows doesn't though. Temptation. Aargh. I should stop using hotdealsuk ....I am too weak!

Good spot.

Defintely a good find op ;), just be careful though, i've been on the phone to 02 and you only get a 3 month warranty on their refurbished phones, which i think isn't good on 02's behalf.
If anyone goes for this deal definitely have it on the house insurance or another service may cost more as it's a refurb but definitely worth the peace of mind :).

Sounds risky to me. Order the deal then cancel when it arrives and ask for a unlock at same time as cancelling ?

There should be some nokia warranty left too :), just don't expect 02 to do anything once the 3 month period is over.

You have 7 days from the delivery date to cancel your contract before you have to pay for the first month airtime.

The unlock requests rarely take longer than a couple of days - so you have plenty of time to wait for the phone to be unlocked before you cancel the contract.

Just remember to put the Sim card in and make a call/text before submitting the unlock form, otherwise it will be declined.

If it were me I'd choose the £23 a month offer. I think it's £75 cashback but it means you can leave it running until the cashback tracks and not have to worry about it costing up to £56.
O2 will unlock quickly. just use the number you're given on the invoice with the online form. They even unlocked a Lumia 1020 I didn't own with a number that I'd cancelled - all within 24 hours. It was in a second hand shop and I didn't want to buy it until I knew it could be unlocked. unfortunately it sold before I had chance to go back and get it! You'll get a 'Mycarewebform' email from them with a ludicrously long unlock code for the Lumia.

That's why I sent my last Nokia back, will try again in a few years if the app ecosystem grows.

There is a Barclays app:

windowsphone.com/en-…2f9

just had a look myself on what apps I use on Android, and there are a lot more than when I previously checked. Really tempted lol!

If I bought something like this it would be as a connected camera with an EE sharer SIM. I'm happy with my humble 8GB Moto G as a phone as the battery is incredible and - even more importantly - it connects to my equally beloved Pebble smartwatch. Windows Phone is unusable day-to-day for me as my main phone as there are just too many apps I use missing. Even where they do exist they're often substandard. Spotify for example doesn't support the new free accounts so I can't use it without resubscribing to the £10 a month plan, Deezer Premium comes with my EE plan but is useless on Windows Phone and WhatsApp is very slow and has features missing that exist on Android and iOS. I'm also yet to find a podcatcher that comes close to Pocketcasts on iOS or Android - and none of them support sorting my 79 subscriptions by order of most recently uploaded. Annoying if you listen to a lot of podcasts! I keep coming back to Windows Phone though as I really like Nokia hardware.

If your needs are humble (and you don't have a smartwatch) Windows Phone is decent enough though. I know people who are very happy with it so I won't say it's crap or anything. The camera and Nokia build quality is the reason to buy this device though in my opinion.

Please O2 do not put a refurbished 5S at this price anytime soon!

highly unlikely. Until at least July.

good price but it's a windows phone

Not needing Deezer or WhatApp does not mean your needs are humble. I agree that a decent podcast client is needed like Beyond Pod (not the awful Pocketcasts though that lacks basic functionality). Podcast Picker is the best I have tried.

Tempting. Very very tempting.

Placed my order last night. Cashback has tracked at £120 and is showing estimated payment date of 25 March. Not guaranteed I know, but a good start none the less;)

Yellow. I'm in the same situation. Do not need to replace my 920, but want to.
