Yes, very good deal, I would prefer an Android but from what I can see for an equivalent(ish) Android phone will cost £50 more, eg Sony Xperia U.

spec wise this phone seems much more powerful, 1.4ghz CPU, the GPU is a generation newer and there's 8gb storage

that said I've never used or seen a windows phone so no idea how good they are

Bought 1 of these April time, stuck it on eBay the same day, just couldn't get on with it. Very responsive screen but just prefer the layout and apps available for the android. I am now using the g300, me personally I would stay with android.

great phone, good deal

Yeah, thanks for that, really really helpful. For everyone else - this is a bit of a bargain, as long as you like the windows phone OS - personally switched from windows OS to android on an xperia s (long story, shouldn't have done it)... and despite having a very good phone I really don't like android... yes you have the ability to hack and manipulate the system far more than win phone, but as a functional communications device it's just not nearly as intuitive - or fluid - as windows phone 7.5.

Yes yes - going down in price as it won't be supported with windows phone 8 but if you take that stance, especially at this price, then you may as well not bother buying any phone because it won't be quite as whizz-bang as something that doesn't exist yet - great system, good apps (despite what some people would lead you believe) and it's a phone that will last as long as you want it to.

Wow, so you really gave it a fair go then? A whole part of a day, you say? So youo didn't get to mess with nokia music properly then? Or test the free and excellent ( and recently updated again) satnav? or the other apps nokia give for free? Or try the OS in depth?

.....

IMO, Windows phone isn't for everyone, as many will miss the flexibility and ability to set and adjust pretty much every aspect of the OS. On the other hand, for the vast majority of other users who just want a phone 'to work', then I can highly recommend the OS. I moved from android to WP, and I very rarely miss the features, instead enjoying reliability, better battery life, and simplicity.

For 100 quid, this is a bargain.

I thought they disnt sell this anymore?

thanks, been looking for this to drop in price again, heat added!

I have this phone and can say that despite hating touch screen phones it's a pleasantly simple to use and very fast phone. I get two days of battery life with moderate usage.

Decent enough deal if WP is your thing and spec, feature, battery life it is pretty comparative ~ The only thing I would caution is the comparative cost if apps as similarly to BlackBerry the apps seem much more expensive in relation to Apple or Android. Also will more apps be developed for what is a dead o's given WP8 is not far off? Just some thoughts. Heat added for the offer though. X)

Great phone, preferred this much to Android and glad I made the change. While the market is crap Android wasn't better either, the music player, zune syncing etc; are all easy and great to use.

oh, you also get Nokia Drive which is on par with Tomtom. Works offline which is brilliant and has several languages/maps including a lot of Asia, Europe and south America.

Bought one of these in June at the same price - upgrading from a San Francisco modded with Cyanogen 2.3.

It's a great phone. As someone's said already app prices do seem to be higher , things that were free on Google Play are 79p on the marketplace. Not really a problem as there isn't anything I really want as I'd only previously downloaded because it was available for free.

The phone is worth it for Nokia Drive alone. It's been brilliant the few timess I've had to use it. Over the last week I've had a message to say connect it to the pc as there's an update available. Haven't done this yet but I think this update was supposed to enable tethering.

I'd say this was the best phone available at this price point.

Good deal

Quidco-£3 for Pay As You Go/Handset Only sales - on a transaction basis not per phone

Good phone for the money, I'd be reluctant to go near CPW though.

Good for the money, i would have got this for mrs if i hadnt bought the Tmobile Vivacisty which is lot cheaper, but its bit slow for my liking but ok for Mrs, i have Htc radar so Windows 7.5 is good on it, the phone is real fast and loads of apps, not as many as android or ios but yuo have the ones you need.

That will be a massive plus when W8 + Nokia is available. I hate using maps on other phones (I've had iPhone, Android and WP7) as there have been so many times when I have tried to use it but the 3G has been unreliable making map viewing slow going.

Very nice to use - it feels slick and polished like iOS.
Certainly well worth considering

i'm always recommending windows phone, often on here.

it is a cracking OS and these little Nokia's are marvellous phones - really sturdy, quick, fun and simple. as i have often said in the past, WP7 to me means i am no longer a slave to the phone - everything is just glance, respond, go. really swish and fluid. unlike android and iOS.

for the price, these are a no brainer. an ideal and cheap way to have a crack at WP7 and then, if the fancy takes you, step up to WP8 later on.

Is Student Discount only available instore or online too?

The downside to this deal is that existing Windows Phone 7 handsets will not be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 that is due for release later this year.
Edited by: "leonkehoe" 1st Aug 2012

That's a good price.

Had this phone for about 6 months now. It is an excellent phone for the money, and a massive step up from the HTC Wildfire I was using in terms of performance. The screen is extremely responsive, and it takes a decent picture. The Satnav app works well. Navigating menus is a breeze. It feels well made and looks nice, which I guess is kinda important.

On the negative, if I've got wi-fi and/or 3G enabled I'm lucky to get 24 hours from it with even a little bit of actual use, so if you're staying away for the night or the weekend and don't wanna run out of battery you either have to switch both off or take a charger with you. The Marketplace is pretty poor. Basic apps like Timers and Flashlights are there, and games, but I couldn't find much more than that. The killer for me is that Microsoft definitely don't want you doing anything to their O.S. without their permission. Really miss that from the Android O.S. The default message editor can be a pain, especially coming from the awesome SwiftKey app. Wish I could use that on this phone and then, to be honest, I would be a lot happier.

8GB of memory has been plenty for me. Can't see myself wanting to put a ton of music on here, or episodes or whatever especially considering the drain on battery that would cause. Quite happy to use my Sandisc MP3 player for music anyway!

So it's not without it's faults, but considering the price it's still easy to recommend providing you don't mind a battery that needs to be charged a lot, 8GB of storage and limited options re customisation. If you could run Android on this phone, it would be a no-brainer!

pick up a bl4 battery off ebay and remove the foam on the back casing to make it fit better

gives you a juicier 1500 battery
