Great price. Very tempted

Might want toput the price in the title for the mobile HUKD users.

This is the cheapest price for the handset but it will be locked to Tesco mobile, according to the instore phone shop staff member I spoke to today.

It's also worth reading reviews online before parting with your cash.

Delivery is free on mobile handsets?

Every little helps (_;)

can this be unlocked??

Tesco sim will work in O2 phone, but O2 sim won't work in tesco phone?

Seem to think it went something like that oO

so is this not a "proper" iphone

Seems a good price, anyone know how much Tesco charge to unlock to all networks?

this seems better than paying £30+ for 24 months
if i wasnt still in a contract id snap this up, it sounds far better than any phone out there just now and that includes you iphone fanboys(girls) :P

had a good go on this. terrible effort nokia. interface was poor. its not touch orientated. coverflow was nice. didnt like the camera. colour seemed off (was indoors).
playing video over HDMI was a bit of a nothing feature as you need a wire. pita imo

For most intelligent people this is a better phone, but of course if you are a bit slow and don't understand even basic tech stuff then the child friendly iPhone will be better.

Apparently Tesco charge £20 to unlock a phone and you must have been with them for at least 3 months.

Don't know if it will work on this phone.

At this price its getting close to the HTC desire £399 unlocked. The are many phone's that in my opinion have better hardware for less money.
its a shame but i think nokia are struggling to make a smartphone.

I have been a Nokia fan for years, owned shedloads from the ancient 5110 onwards and after reading the reviews I have to say, symbian still sucks. Yes, the iPhone attracts a few people who think "ooh apple" but the simple fact is, it works perfectly out of the box. Whereas every symbian device I owned was buggy. From the 7650 to the N97.

That being said, this is a pretty damn good price for the phone, but I would rather try an android handset instead

Nokia have invested a lot in this handset in terms of symbian thier operating software and the handset, will be intresting as thier n97 was a very big dissapointment for me personally, let just hope its a better version of the most common phone the beloved iphone.

Don't like the interface on these but seems to be a well built phone and has a decent camera. Would rather go Android imo.

oh grow up. you haven't even used it have you?

shock, have you ever owned an android or iPhone?
I'm anti-apple but have to admit, as already said, their stuff just works. Same with android. Before buying my legend and iPhone, I owned the N97. Went out and got it within a few weeks of release, paid through the nose and rushed home to set it up. I felt disappointed within the week.
The N97 was buggy, slow & constantly crashed. This handset runs a more polished version of the same OS.

i like this phone but am use to Android now and dont wanna move to any other OS.. If this phone had Android on it, it would rock!!!

this is a great deal tho..

Why the need to grow up? Yes have a 3GS in the next room, (Mrs's)

As above, Have used a desire for about 2 weeks. Have much more respect for the Desire, but not for the iphone. Mrs likes it, but she does also struggle with setting the alarm clock on the clock next to the bed!

The N97 was shipped with a rushed os and was a let down, the N8 is a lot better than the N97. N97 runs S^1, N8 runs S^3, its 2 generations newer.

E63, E71, E72 to name a few brilliant Nokia phones....

why can't nokia just make a phone with android software and everyone would buy it as you would have android and nokia together the best of both worlds

I have an iPhone4 but I would also have this. I've always thought of Nokia as the world's best manufacturer of cell phones.

this would be a beast of a phone with andriod, such a shame.

So many reviews rate the specs on this phone but it let down by the OS. My upgrade is not till march so will see what comes out in the near future

Since everyone is giving the 'thumb down' for the OS of this phone. Let me be the first to say:

SYMBIAN FTW!

Iphones feels like an automatic car. I dont feel as if I have control with the phone. Also, the iphone breaks down a lot. I mean, i have to pull over and charge the damn thing ever 10 hours.

Whereas the N8 has manual transmission (because its harder to do things with the OS). And the insurance with A.A is much more cheaper becuase the battery won't fail like the iphone.

PS: Ford sucks.

Nokia should make Android phones and scrap the Symbian OS.

Not sure what your on about really, have been using the N8 for over a week now, and well the interface is great, the touch screen works great, and the camera is amazing! Has a great macro mode as well!
The screen is also very good, I have it on the low brightness settings and even this is perfect outdoors or indoors, the lowest brightness settings are like the highest setting on the iPhone 3G or Nokia E71!

Symbian is poor by today's standards. I have a 5230 and have tried an N97, both use the same CPU, which is too slow for the OS. This phone uses a better revision of Symbian and a faster CPU, however every review says that this phone is let down by the OS. Nokia flirted with Maemo on the N900 and they are going with Meego for some of their future phones, in fact you can dual boot Meego and Maemo on the N900. So maybe Meego will be the future for Nokia. I like some of the features such as Ovi Maps, it does appear to be better than Google's Sat Nav offering. I'd say for most people though go with Android or an IOS4 based iphone, they provide a much better touchscreen experience than Symbian currently offers. I'm a Nokia user and I do need to upgrade my phone. I'd like to stick with a Nokia but I really can't justify it when there's better options elsewhere.

There's a huge review here:
techradar.com/rev…=13

Quote from review:

"The Nokia N8 is a tricky one to judge: it's a phone that will do very well with the Nokia fans, as it's easily the best Symbian device ever made, and those that have bought similar handsets will be delighted that nearly all of the foibles from the older S60 are gone.

But for the smartphone user that's coming to the end of their first Android or iPhone and thinking of a change, it may be less of a joyful experience. The lag on the home screen jars and if you're running too many things in the background the Nokia N8 can struggle to open menus or shut down apps."

As per usual, Nokia's attempts at a smart phone seem to have fallen short. They compare it to the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S it although the media experience and camera is better the rest isn't as good. I would place more importance in the user interface, internet experience and music quality.

Not only that, you can get the Samsung Galaxy cheaper on PAYG and on a contract with Dialaphone. Why on earth would you go for this inferior product when you can get the best new phone on the market for less?

This phone became obselete when Meego was announced.

Having used one I can say the user interface (like all recent Nokia smartphones) is terrible.

And to top it all off, the phone is BUTT UGLY

Having been a long-time Nokia user, I'm quite excited about this phone. Finally a modern Nokia touchscreen with 12MP camera. The should mean I won't need my 8MP compact camera anymore.

I have an idea for anyone who is interested. If you pick this phone up from tesco, get the £10 a month SIM deal from tesco too. In 3 months they will let you unlock the phone and you can use the £20 free credit that you are given on the other SIM. Pretty much an unlocked nokia N8 for £315 after quidco + you get 600 clubcard vouchers. Even for a phone with faults it is a good deal.

I had the same idea and have gone for it. I order both the phone on PAYG and a sim on the £10 monthly sim deal (500 mins, unlim texts, 500mb data). I'll probably sell the £20 payg sim which comes with the phone on ebay or something. Anyway I figure this is a cracking price for the phone, and I can get it unlocked early next year if I want.
