Seems like a very good price for this huge device(size wise) even though its a clearance product.

The Nokia N900 is a mobile Internet device and smartphone from Nokia that supersedes the N810. Based on the Maemo platform, it runs Maemo 5 Linux as its default operating system and is the first Nokia device based upon the TI OMAP3 microprocessor with the ARM Cortex-A8 core. Unlike the Internet Tablets preceding it, the Nokia N900 is the first Maemo device to include phone functionality (quad-band GSM and 3G UMTS). It functions as a 5 mega pixel camera, a portable media player, and a mobile Internet device with email and full web browsing. It was launched at Nokia World on September 2, 2009 and was released on November 11, 2009 in the United States and 9 European countries.

The N900 was launched alongside Maemo 5, giving the device an overall more touch-friendly interface than its predecessors and a customizable home screen which mixes application icons with shortcuts and widgets. Maemo 5 supports Adobe Flash Player 9.4, and includes many applications designed specifically for the mobile platform such as a new touch-friendly media player.[4]

The Nokia N900 will be the last mobile communication device running the Maemo 5 operating system, which is in its final version. The N900 will continue to be supported with updates when necessary.

cant find it online

tigger80, start from ]http//ww…PAY then pick one option, then the "Black Clearance" model.

superb phone - but battery life is crap. Charged it full at 2 am last night & batter died at 9 am in morning - charging now.

I dont need a new phone yet but this seems like a good deal

H & R added

I've seen the size of this it's a lot bigger than my n810. Yeah, I know it's a phone too but does it really need to have shrunk the screen and got huge?

I have had a play with one and Maemo 5 is a leaps and bounds an improvement over the n810 Maemo OS2008.

This phone normally comes with a two year nokia warrantee would that still be intact?

Nokia warranty starts from the day you receive the item so should still be 2 years, It says clearance and not 14 day returned stock but maybe better to check at time of purchase

Ordered one myself. Will see if it's brand new or returns item...
I guess I won't be getting it for Tuesday due to bank holiday Monday?
Will flog my iphone 2g on ebay after that.

Can clearance items be bought in store?

dont see it for 255.95??? am i missing something here??

I've had this phone for 4 months and love it, yeh the Nokia apps sparse but that might change.

To preserve battery life just disconnect from the internet (3G or wi-fi) when you don't need to be. Not being connected to internet makes the battery last for 3-4 days.

can anyone see what the warrenty is with clearance items?? I cant!
Is it still Nokia 2 years?

I found it 1 year warrenty, may have slight marks etc, customer returns

Most phones only have one year, but the nokia has two I have emailed them to ask.

from the nokia store itself, and brand new handsets,
This is clearance though, add this item to basket, hovever mouse over word clearance and it says;
"each one has been inspected and comes with a full year manufacturer warranty".
That still okay, but no mention of two years??

i think it may mean, 1 year warrenty with CPW just cos it clearance item, but nokia also give 2 years warrenty with most of their top end handsets.

Working link to the offer

I thought it is only 2 years for non-UK EU consumers, not for the UK?

was going to get the n97, but at this price......... Ordered! Thanks op heat and rep

By EU Sales and Guarantees Directive warranty is 2 years and shops do not have choice. They have to give 2 years. There is something about 6 years in UK, but I don't know details. Search google for "2 years warranty" for more details.

Does anybody know how to make the phone sim free?

Yes! you pay that 2nd hand with no warranty, handsets are almost £400 otherwise.
I will report back on what mine is like when it arrives

Yes and no. As starr4 said, it's a cracking price. On the downside, it's an experimental OS from Nokia which does have some merits, but if you want something that 'just works' and can't be bothered fiddling with the technical aspects then look elsewhere. Also battery life is not it's strongest point.

i have a iphone 3g at the moment that was the only phone that has taken me away from nokia now im getting a little bored wanting to go back to nokia do you think i will like the n900 after having a iphone i really dunno? anybody have or had both of them ?

Any info on network locked?

If you turn off wifi, maps gps location battery lasts much longer, not in settings just little on/off on bottom of widjet, simple.
Also maemo 5 is so much better than the older symbian nokia used in the n97, its getting great reviews.
This is a great price for it!

I want mine now! lol

Nokias are one of the most simple to unlock, there are codes online, but I would probably take it to a shop to do

Was told by sales assistant that it will be unlocked.

seems good.. really good phone... waiting for price to come down.. its good deal...
but i am not sure IS CLEARANCE PRODUCTS HAVE FAULTS ???

I got 5530 from e2save clearance, i got only handset that is 5530 rest of the things headset is junk and no memory card...

So afraid to take this deal.... :o:o:o:o

anyway hot for u.....

r.e. Battery life - With 3G, Wifi and moderate internet and mp3 usage I get about 24 hours out of mine. I charge it up every night just in case, and have a spare charger on my desk just in case, but it holds up very well considering how much is packed in. If batter life is important, have a car charger as well. And if you can't charge it up, switch off some of the extras

this may not be a brand new phone for those who don't know, these are returned phones and may come with day to day wear and tear!

surely the HTC Desire at £295 on O2 buy it now price is better, although I am not that clued up on phones.

IMHO the N900 is an AWFUL phone... had a play with one and it was crap.

Thats compared to my HTC Hero... the HTC Desire is a million times better.

All IMHO of course.

I have had one of these for over six months, and I can't see how you can call it massive.
It's far smaller than it's predecessor, which I think is it's biggest problem. It should be bigger.

Bear in mind that this is a pocket Linux PC with a phone tacked on afterwards, not the other way around like most smartphones.

Refurbished phones
Our clearance deals come with a ‘refurbished’ mobile phone. This means you can get a great phone, in full working order, for even better value than if you bought a 'brand new' version..

What are refurbished phones?

Refurbished phones have been returned to us by customers who bought them and then returned them under our 14-day money back guarantee.

* All these phones are fully inspected, tested and repackaged by our qualified engineers.
* They all come with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty.

How are refurbished phones different?

* A refurbished phone will come in a different box to the original.
* The box will always include the handset, battery, charger and manual. We can't guarantee that any other accessories will be included.
* There may be slight cosmetic flaws to a refurbished phone or its box - these will not affect the phone’s performance in any way.

What if a refurbished phone is out of stock?

We can't guarantee when refurbished phones will become available again once they are out of stock.

* If the clearance deal you order is out of stock we'll do our best to get hold of a phone for you.
* If your order will be delayed we'll contact you to say so. Then, unless you tell us otherwise, we'll cancel your order.

Beergoogles, where did you find the Desire for £295? I've not seen any deals on the Desire at this level for quite a while (unless you want to sign your life away)
