Quidco £60 completely off sets cost of Nokia N96 handset so is essentially ****FREE***
(Handset alone is £400 !!)

Use Dial a Phone Refer a friend RAF

AND use voucher £45

The cheapest phone cost for this top of the range Nokia N96 phone model and cheapest monthly line rent - 600 xnet minutes combination. Great especially as there is no cash back scheme - messyness.

A decent low cost package to have for 24 month contract.

24 month contract though! but still a very good deal

Just remember the N97 is coming out in a few months and is a much much better phone.

You are going to get better deals closer to the release of the N97 if you really want a rebadged N95 (sorry N96)

The next best N96 phone - minutes package is the Orange network offerrings but has

This may be true but the cost of the N97 for new customers will definitley be sky high pricey for a year.

Any better offerings for N96 package without cash back schemes, would be great to know as I have 3 days to find a top deal to beat this one.

Seems like a great deal to me great phone too. i've got one myself, it looks gorgeous and offers a lot of features. though compared to the N95 theres virtually no difference apart from the slightly bigger screen and 16GB internal memory

Release in a few months time, but for new customers ...the N97 will be a very very pricey phone for a year at least, hence this N96 deal on O2 seems very good value indeed.

Expansys have June 23nd as the SIm free Launch date.

expansys.com/p.a…946

I have seen the same date on another shop site too.

Managed to bag a N96 unlocked from ebay for £300,

Word of warning about updating the software by changing the product code "DONT"

I tried, killed the phone and spent another £25 getting the local Nokia Service centre to put it right

Apparently the new digital certificates check the imei with operator code on Nokia software update service.

Just thought i would let you know.

lol...and the cost they quote for N97

"Handset Only Price: £669.99 (582.60 exc.)"

This is further confirming this deal post for N96 is starting to look like a very hot deal.

I had an N96 on 18mth contract for £25mth with 600 xnet mins & unlimited texts(3000 mth) through Vodafone.
Personal experience was the phone was slow using any apps on it as well as v poor batt life. Sold and bought N95.... very happy

Yeah, this is why I was nervous when I changed my product code. Still, mine worked fine, and it's a thousand times better. (n95 8gb)

I had an N96.........for 5 days!

It was an upgrade from Tmobile. Awful awful awful phone, be sure and google it and all it's problems first (wish I had, would've avoided much immense disappointment!) It wouldn't connect to my wifi, froze and crashed around 6 times a day, soooooooooo sloooooooooow, nothing worked as it should (compared to N95's I've used, N95's are waaaaaayy superior,) battery on low useage didn't even last a day, I could go on.................

Sent it back under the 7 day home approval and got myself a white N79, came today.......not as swanky or sexy looking as the N96, but a fab little phone! And it works!! Woo!!

I ended up with the phone for free on a 24mth/£25pm contract with:
400 Cross net minutes
500 Cross net texts

Offer now expired!

Gotta agree about the original battery life, absolutely 5hyte.

I ended up purchasing a 1200Mah battery from a Nokia N78 IIRC, which fits, but the rear cover doesn't quite fasten as it should. Battery life seems a lot better though.

Personally, I like the phone and even have Garmin XT on it and it works pretty good. Not as customisable as your dedicated satnav, but still very good.

Pictures and videos are excellent too, but the N95 is supposed to be better in this department.

It also has intergrated DVB, but unfortunately it doesn't work in the UK (which I was really gutted about).

DONT GET THIS PHONE... ITS A NIGHTMARE!
im on my 3rd n96 from vodafone. the phone is full of faults. its realy slow and crashes all the time. none of the 3 phones ive had connect to my wi-lan, when your listening to music through the headphones and you get a txt the phone switches off. to many faults to list.

N95's are fabulous phones.....................not to be confused with the godawful N96's!

Unfortunately by the time I'd decided to call Tmob to send my 96 back and ask for the 95 instead, they'd stopped stocking it. Gutted! But very happy with my 79 now.

Although after the N96 experience I'd have been happy with my old Nokia 3210......................

I tried the N96 in a Nokia shop many times, didn't like it at all.
on the other hand, i was hugely impressed with the E71, from the first touch. I got myself one from ebay for 160quid, i am more and more impressed with it.

Has anyone got this phone and has anything good to say about it, is the phone model as bad as the repeated locking up sounds. I am assuming the phone has updates which will iron out the bugs, so am still very tempted to go for it. N97 is out of the question people do not realise the cost of the N97 is going to be £600 region. Have a little think about it you could get 2 PS3's or a 1080p lcd tv for that amount

Since i got mine fixed and updated with the latest software i have had no problems, i think it is a fantastic piece of kit, looking forward to the N97 also though, I dont have a PS3 and wouldn't buy one at any price (never got over the shortage of PS2's when they were released and told Sony Customer Services what i thought of their products) already have a hd tv so that leaves the money free for the n97 at any price.

Definetly a very nice phone to work with no matter what others say, get it updated to the latest software for free at any nokia centre and you will be impressed!.

Considering that Apple are probably going to release a new iPhone in the summer I think there will be a fair amount of price competition against the N97 to keep the prices more realistic.

I have the N96 and im NOW very happy with it. The first week or so i had it i hated it was very buggy, slow and crashed constantly.

What you need to do when you get the phone is:
1. Debrand it and update it to the latest firmware (12.043). This solves alot of the early issuses.
2. After you load large amounts of data onto the phone allow a day or so for the phone to index the files and you will notice a considerable difference in speed.

Theres loads of applications available for the phone, and if you 'hack it' your able to make plenty of other changes as well.

Camera/video quality is pretty decent.

The only real downside is the battery life. Will last bout 2 days with normal text/calling usage.
If your going to be using the internet/video/music alot will need to charge it every day.

Its very easy to connect to wif pointsi, i do this all the time without any problems.
The text/listening to music problem is fixed in the latest firmware.
