THIS IS STILL INSTOCK INSTORE !!

This is a really good deal if you are looking for a 9" tablet. Very good screen. (check post 2)
An alternative to Nexus 7 if you want a bigger tablet and really cheap.

The RRP of this is £229 for 16GB model and £269 for 32GB Model .
These are also quite new. Were only released around 4 months ago.

However CEX are selling grade A 16GB Models for only £120 and 32GB models for only £145.

GRADE A means it will be in mint condition (no marks) and with original box and all accessories so will be as new.

1 YEAR GUARANTEE INCLUDED.

Currently the Lightest big Tablet and Full HD
- Brilliant HD 9" Display - (1920 x 1280 resolution)
- Just 515 grams

Has MicroSD slot for expandable storage.

Specifications in second post.

The Reason these are so cheap is because they run a modified android like the kindles that is very restricted and therefore lots of people are getting rid of them as unwanted gifts. So most of the ones on cex will be unused. You might even get a sealed one.

HOWEVER there is already a fully working Android 4.1(Jellybean) custom rom for this which works incredibly well and will only get better. Everything works currently you just need to run it from the sd card.

Links in second post.

Forgot to say Postage is £2.50

**************************************

UPDATE : If this goes out of stock, you should still be able to get this instore check the stores which have this on the right hand side.
Also new stock may be added each day.

Both 16GB and 32GB Now Out Of Stock Online. Still available instore and you can find out what stores have them on the website

For the price you are getting very good hardware. However this is only worth it if you are willing to install the custom android 4.1 rom to unlock its full potential. If you don't do this then the software will restrict you and its not great.

For new users to android I would say installing the custom rom is around 4/10 difficulty.

All Custom rom information can be found here : forum.xda-developers.com/for…038

The screen is very bright with great resolution and contrast , the image below is a comparison cnet did.

CEX are not too bad, I'm sure a few people have bought from them. I have had no problems before. Warranty can also be done directly with the manufacture as warranty is transferable and is remotely registered when you first use it.

I would still only recommend getting this if you are going to install a custom rom as without that its not great

CEX or B&N?
I don't think cex will be closing down, they seem to be doing alright.

Software aside this is still the cheapest price for this hardware out of any tablets, probably even cheaper than Chinese tablets too and alot better.

Theres only 2 roms at the minute . Android 4.1 Custom ROM (which is CM10 ) and Android 4.2 ROM (which is CM10.1). Both are loaded from the sd card. If you remove the sd card it loads the stock android operating system.

I've been looking for a decent, well-priced tablet with a good resolution screen for ages now, and I think I've just found it - cheers OP, ordered!

The Nexus 10 was a bit above my budget, and quality/warranty issues were putting me off getting one of the Chinese units. Can't go wrong with the 12-month warranty on this.
Is it worth getting the 32gb over the 16gb? Also, can you return it if it has dead pixels or a big scratch or something?

16 GB is better choice because it supports micro SD card. You can get a decent 32 GB Sandisk Class 10 for ~£18
Custom ROM is definitely the way to go. If you are not willing to do it then not worth buying IMO. Otherwise,a good price for someone wanting a larger size tablet on a budget. Much to like about the hardware but note that it has no front facing camera. Wouldn't be interested at full retail but at £120 it's hot from me.

You have distance selling regulations so can return within 8 days for whatever reason you wish and get your money back
can anyone give a real world view of the CM10 rom please? does it work perfectly fine and smooth? does it play games etc fine?

Current things that don't work (obviously it should get better with time, but is perfectly usable at the moment i would say) You can do pretty much everything else, games etc.
This list is from the guy who made the rom - verygreen

- Rebooting to stock nook os with sdcard still in causes stock to hang at 99% booting and sit there, simply pop out the sdcard and it will finish booting.
- on-headphones microphone is not currently used even if present (I now believe this is actually not a bug, and stock has the same behavior).
- Bluetooth signal strength is low
- Hulu+ and other such things requiring DRM do not work.

This was £180 at CeX a month ago, so quite a big drop and hot from me. Just don't count on the warranty.

Thanks for that are you using the rom yourself? Is there any lag I saw a youtube video in which the UI appeared very laggy.

The way this currently works is the custom rom is installed on the sd card and thats it. So if you remove the sd card the tablet is the exact same as when you purchased it. And they will have no way of knowing.

Its like the apple ipads/iphones jailbreak them and they void warranty but if you restore they have know way of knowing you did it.

Seems fine for me.

You can also alternatively root the stock nook OS and install a custom launcher like ADW or Nova Launcher and then install google play store and use it like this if you wished. You can then sideload apps or install from the google play store.

But doesn't the 32gb one have a microsd slot too? I'm just wondering if internal memory was better or had priority or was used for the system or something

Apps normally have to install to internal memory , though not strictly true and there is ways to get around it. Also in some cases internal memory is also sometimes slightly faster.

It seems like the 16gb models are out of stock now online anyway, just 32gb left or check in the stores.

One Left about a minute ago.

Was almost tempted but I don't really need one. There's a new firmware for the device too, according to goodereader.com/blo…ts/
Only 32GB left online now.

You can still get the 16GB models instore from the stores shown on the website

Would be interested to see the people who got them if any were still sealed. I think some might be,

brilliant price but is there anyone here with one on proper android that can comment on it's gaming capabilities - interested to know if it has decent graphics performance on standard 3d games (dead space, shadowgun, nova) as no GPU was mentioned.

edit - singlecore 384mhz GPU. suppose this is an upgraded ebook reader.

They will ask you though and if you don't flatly lie, they'll refuse to do anything for you.

Not too bad. It has the same processor and gpu as the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and Archos 101 XS

This is a comparison using Nenamark 2

http://cdn2.ubergizmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/archos-101-xs-nenamark2.jpg

Its just below nexus 7 graphics. Though that is at 1280 x 800. So its just about as powerful as tegra 3.

Problem is this tablet is 1920 x 1280 so obviously results would be lower as its got a higher resolution. It gets about 33fps at this resolution. Going by the kindle fire hd 8.9 result which is basically same resolution and same cpu/graphics

Too cheap.
No front or rear camera! No GPS? it means no pictures or Skype and no Satnav.

Also, no light sensor so the screen will maintain at maximum brightness all the time.

phonearena.com/pho…512

Yes, it's cheap but it should have come with the front camera at least.

I have the 32GB version but only ever used the CM10 ROM from sd card so I'd say go for 16GB. Anyone wondering the CM10 ROM is excellent, very stable and has run everything that I've tried on it no problems and very quick. Screen is really nice. I'd say for this price it is a bargain. I paid £170 for my brand new 32GB from Amazon market
ro888

Nope. But you have to factor in the price. You can get all that stuff if you pay more obviously but probably not for £120

Obviously the less the cost the less features.

I would say GPS is not essential. I think the tablet is a bit big for gps use. More suited to mobile phone or smaller tablet. However I do think it should have had a front camera though, bit of a shame, but can't get everything. Can get around it by using your phone instead when needed.
