Bought the Nook Simple Touch for my Nephews 10th Birthday when Argos had them @ £59. Now my neice wants one for her 13th Birthday and they've gone up in price everywhere else to £79 and £109 for the Glowlight.
Managed to get the Monster Case, protector and skin from Amazon for under £4, even they have now gone upto £5.99

Check out the plethora of youtube videos to see what these are capable of:

Can recommend the glo as my wife has one. Uses the light feature all the time and is well worth paying the extra for. The glo is well designed and made from quality soft feel materials. Part of the deal was an official cover for a half price cover for £12. The official covers are over priced at an rrp of £24.99 but like the reader itself, they are well designed and look great. These devices are relatively simple so i'd have thought it reasonably safe to buy from cex. Plus, i'd have thought they'd be hardly used as the typical customer at my local cex definitely doesn't look as though they read many books without pictures.

If you're going to get a case for it, you can save £5 by going for a grade B.

Sainsbury's have some good quality leather cases in their clearance section.
Just picked a Glowlight up from Manchester (Piccadilly Station). It's pristine and unused, only opened they say to check the contents.

They have 3 left if anyone is interested.

Thanks OP.

Thanks, just canceled my order for the NST and re-ordered along with a Glowlight to get combined postage @ £2.50 for both.

That's the Mrs valentines present sorted!

If for whatever reason, anyone would prefer a Kindle, they have the WiFi 2011, New for £55

You've put a lot of effort to put together that post OP, like your attention to detail.

Deserve some heat.
Great e reader, much more versatile than the old kindle
With Kindle, you can send a document to your kindle mail id and it is send to your Kindle.

Is there a same feature with the Nook?

I'm sure there is as you can share your books with other users but not really used the stock/official features much ;). One rooted, you have a choice of several cloud based services including Dropbox, or email clients so you could just email it to your self and just open the attachment on the nook.
Alternatively if you're on the same Wifi network or use a VPN, you can use AirDroid to simply drag and drop it into any folder on the Nook, then even open it on the Nook from your laptop/tablet with any choice of eReader app. That way the book is open and on the page you want when you pick the Nook.

Thanks Guan.

Any recommendation about rooting of Nook glowlight?

I am inclined to buy one as it supports epub and has 32GB sdcard if I am right.

The Mrs felt it was overkill having 2 tablets in the house and an eReader. Hence, she made me return the Glowlight.
My nephew and niece still have their NST's. Yes it does support ePub files. It doesn't come with a 32Gb card but does support it. 32Gb is a bit overkill, I'd go for a 16Gb MicroSD card, class 6 or above.
I managed to get a couple for £7 each:

Check your firmware version number and make sure it's a UK Nook Glowlight.
Then make a backup:

I guess I lack the wit/sarcasm of other users (_;) but thanks for noticing, it's most appreciated!

Or maybe it's because I once voted cold on a deal posted by one of the mods because of my bad experiences with the retailer.

If you don't root it, the Nook is better.

If you do root it, the Nook slaughters the Kindle.
Apologies, am a fuddy duddy golden oldie.

What does root it mean? (in layman's terms pls)

Thanks.

Just like on windows you have administrator account and other accounts with less privileges. rooting a phone means gaining access to administrator account. after rooting you can do all stuff which requires administrator privileges, you can even install other version of operating system on your phone.

Look here:

Why is this voted cold? Has anybody bought the Nook Glolight on this deal? Can they confirm its in as new condition? HOT!

I bought the non-glowlight one and it was pretty much as new.

Probably because it's CeX. Terrible customer service. Still not had my refund on the Glowlight I returned 2 months ago. They've not responded to any of the six messages I've sent them. Currently going through Paypal resolution to try and get my money back.
Hence, this is only a good deal if you buy in store or don't plan to return it.

Not expired. Still plenty in stock but don't buy from CeX as it is now cheaper almost everywhere else!

Have you guys tried doing a factory reset?

If you post your stock firmware version on your Nook and which guide you are using in the thread above, one of us should be able to guide you through it.

True!
I can't mind what my firmware was - it was for a gift and they have it now. Is it really worth upgrading has anyone noticed???

I take it, you get all the way to step 9 but it fails when you follow the steps on the UK Nook site?
If I still had a Nook of my own, I'd happily test it for you.

Both my nephew and niece seem to be happy with theirs, especially with over 3Gb worth of books and games on them.
