How much is delivery?

Got a US unit delivered by mistake on Friday. Apparently Argos have done this to others too. Got an email from Barnes & Noble after I registered the device. They offered to exchange the unit for a UK version, which was arrived yesterday. Just letting you know in case you need the unit in a hurry.

How much is delivery?

Free

Really good value for money, got mine at PC World the day they were reduced along with a case for £5 too.

thanks

Monkeyd, did you have to return the US version?

Yes. They sent me a prepaid UPS label via email to print out and I had to find a Local UPS collection point to return it. Pain in the back side but there service was very good and it is still worth getting this fabulous reader. You will know you have the US version when it asks for your US time zone upon registration.

Thanks, I was hoping they would let you keep it

Hey OP,

Have some heat, ordered and chose next day delivery for free, woo hoo. Hope it arrives tomorrow!!

Hi Everyone im a bit slow as to what these are and how they actually work lol can you download the free kindle books on these or not ? thanks .

Been waiting for these to come into stock somewhere, cheers.

Free next day delivery.

@angnik - As I understand it the Nook will read ".epub" files that are DRM free, and Amazon books are in DRM'd ".mobi" format.

However, you can use "Calibre" (a free open source book manager program) to load DRM-free books onto the Nook and there is a plug-in available for Calibre (Google "calibre drm removal plugin") that will remove the DRM from books you have bought from Amazon, so it is fairly easy to do. This applies to free books from Amazon too.

Or root the device and install Kindle app.

This Previous HotUK thread is a good place to start as it covers books and rooting. Also, has a link to help you change the region of 'US' units (_;)

I m new to this world.
So is it an electronic book reader and I can read any online book by storing/ saving on its hard drive? Or something else?
Also, is it only for book reading? And dependent to any language format?

Any help?

Thanks you very much

I purchased one of these from ASDA which arrived yesterday and quite frankly it is a piece of junk.
After charging it, I noticed that it came with 'Pride & Prejudice' preinstalled, that I didn't want, so I tried to delete it. You can't!
I tried to contact their customer services - You can't! Online you don't get anywhere and apparently no-one ever answers the phone (I didn't bother trying).
Their books are very expensive compared to Amazon. Goto uk.nook.com and then Amazon and look at the books, you will see the difference.
Go onto Facebook and goto their 'Nook' page before commiting yourself - it is full of people complaining about this company and their products.
A lot of people will slate me for telling the truth but I would advise you to look closely into things before buying.

Yep this happened to me too - very annoying as couldn't buy anything.

You can read any PDF too.

You need to create a B&N account where you can control your Nook. There you can delete Pride & Prejudice and other books you no longer need.

1) I DO have a B&N account.
2) You can't delete Pride & Prejudice.

Goto:
Can't delete NOOK books

There are an awful lot of people complaining about this.

Good deal but a lot of people are being sent US units so would avoid argos personally if buying this.

I have a Nook and a B&N account, and I have deleted it. My Nook -> Library and then select and delete books as you wish. Not sure where people are going wrong with this.

If you're unable to delete a book from your library, you haven't read the manual. You delete books via the online library once you have logged in.

In terms of cost, I have bought some books cheaper than on Amazon, and some were more expensive but typically, they're the same price on both sites.

For support, I use the on-line chat service regularly. I've found it to be polite and efficient and resolve the vast majority of my issues within a couple of minutes. If you look around people complain about Amazon too, no company is immune from the average whinger, yourself inluded.

Ordered thanks.

THIS READER IS A JUNK BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DELETE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

I ordered one from Argos a couple of weeks ago and after payment a 'We can't confirm stock, we'll email you shortly' message was displayed on screen. The following morning i received a 'You left something in your trolley' email and that was the last I heard from them about it - it appears they're not aware I've ordered and paid for one. I've used their contact form twice since to get an update but haven't yet had a reply. Logging in to the Argos website to track the order requires the order number I was never given. I'll phone them up when I get a chance, not impressed with it all really. A few days ago I ordered one from Asda Direct and I received it yesterday, in spite of the bank holiday. Ho hum.

Just ordered. Thanks very much op!

Thought these were now £29 everywhere now??

I bought mine direct from Nook at this price last month with free delivery uk.nook.com/tab…uch

4% Quidco also available

Apparently your keyboard is also "a junk" because the Caps Lock appears to be broken.

Can I browse the web on this?

There is a limited browser at the moment, but Nook are rolling out full browser support to all devices in June.

It's out of stock everywhere else, that's why this is hot! Then again it could be that tomorrow every shop has them but unlikely, or price could be higher hence the heat for this one
