Just doing a bit of grocery shopping and noticed that the Nook Simple Touch is only £19.99 on clearance in Sainsbury's. According to the assistant this a national price. Plenty of stock in the West Midlands.

I can confirm this, being an employee. It comes up as discontinued, thus the Reduced to clear label.

Bargain!

what is that?

It's an e-reader like a Kindle, but lots cheaper.

Still no deals on Crannies

Have it already and would say buy it if you don't have one. I find it much better than the kindle.

sons is fab

Wish there was stock near me!

Really like mine too. Bargain!

Plus you can root it & run 'Android' applications (quite slowly, it has to be admitted) - but doing that *does* give you access to the Kindle Marketplace etc.

Thought these were good value at £30, even more so now!

Owned one, loved it though the bezel comes out rather far towards you, and the buttons are a bit hard to push. I put it in my bag loose while travelling one day and must have put some pressure on it because the screen cracked, devastated. Does anyone know of something like this but with a newer android version? 2.1 is nice but 4.0 and above would mean I can use a modern web browser.

£20 is about right - good value, but not a patch on Kindle.

amazing deal

we have 3 of these in our house(1 for me, 2 for the kids) and i have shown many users of kindles and other book readers and they have been extremely impressed

also bought 2 for the mothers last year for mothers day

if you dont own a book reader, you'd be silly not to

We have a Kindle, a Nook and a Kobo in our house and the Nook is very good - for that price, it is amazing! Much heat from us here!

We have one, use calibre to convert kindle books to read on this device .

Hmm I'm not getting one because my phone have bigger screen than Nook so it's pointless, but maybe will get one for wife.
Only problem is that you have to root it to put on it anything else.

Went into the local sainsburys earlier to look for one of these as cant find stock anywhere any more it seems but they only had the glo. Gutted would of snapped this up!

For prolonged reading it's e-ink is much much better and easier on the eye than my large screen phone or tablets unless needing heavily illustrated ebooks that must be viewed in colour. If hacked into Android it's much better than kindle. Battery life is MUCH longer than any phone or tablet like all modern ereaders. I have the Glow version and try not to use it so often, impossible.

Thanks

Awesome reader! Paid 29.99 for my one last year.

A bargain!

Do you remember how much the Glowlight one was? Thanks!

Got one for my daughter for Xmas at £30, she loves it.
You can get ebooks from your library with this, you cannot with a Kindle.
If I can find stock I will get one for myself!

Great price If you can find one

Does anyone know if this is in stock in Sainsburys in Stirling? Or know of a way to find out?

your giant phone is irrelevant - rubbish reading on a phone vs e-ink and slightly less battery id assume

fantastic deal

£69.99 for the glow - also the only one my local Sainsburys has.

Any confirmation where has stock?
Going rate for the glow is £50?
Don't forget accessories, covers etc £5 at Nook.

Cold, cold, cold. I am afraid there is a reason that this has been so cheap for so long, it is rubbish.
Example, you cannot zoom - quite a big deal if the text is small.
It freezes up and crashes regularly.
Some really basic stuff you simply can't do.
Mine was thrown out with the trash.

Looked around and cheapest anywhere is £49

Saw these a day or so ago. Think these are sold out in most places (tried 3 Sainsburys, wanted to see if I could get one before posting the deal). Probably staff had em, everywhere had the 70 quid glowlights though.

Do Sainsburys let you buy the display model? I wouldn't want one that's been 'fingered' so much but others might and last time I had a display appliance (It was only for the garage, so didn't mind if she was a bit slutty) from tesco they knocked 10% off.

As a self confessed geek and tech head, this is The best £30 I've laid down on tech in many years, so that really is saying something. At £20 it's a no brainer. The ONLY advantage to getting a kindle over this is the ease of accessing the kindle store, but as mentioned already, download Calibre to your PC and it's not really a problem adding kindle bought books to your Nook. It's a awesome peace of kit, possible more so than kindle because of what you can do with it if you have the know how. Much easier on the eye than a tablet.

What store in west midlands

None left in gloucestershire, checked the system for ranged stores at work heat though nice find

Oldbury and Wolverhampton both had them today, and my friend picked on up in the Merry Hill store.

Brilliant device. Well worth the £20!

Just rung and none in St Claire's Hampton or in Staines save people a wasted journey
