You never know here. It should,,,, fantastic alternative to the current Nexus 7 - only thing that would have made this a killer for me would be forward firing stereo speakers - as is it has them on the rear - prob not an issue for everyone.

So tempted for price. But do I need 3 tablets?

This is the going price for them now. Same price at Argos.

Since when ?

Ordered one for my 6 yr old. Was gonna post it as I got the email but OP beat me to it.

argos.co.uk/sta…htm Is the Argos link if anyone wants to see if it is in stock near them. Personally I just ordered from Nook.

Pretty sure you can get quidco from nook store too

There a Cyanogen rom for this tablet which really unlocks it's full potential. Hot from me.

Thanks for the link - but what do get from hacking it that you don't get with the standard ROM?

found it sluggish once you'd got some media on it. felt like the storage was being used as cache, so order online for delivery so you can try and return within your 7 day cooling off. buy in the shops and i dont think you can return it @ Argos as its excluded

Standard OS is a very cut down version of ICS (citation needed). They've added some features back with the Play Store update, but I still counldn't find a lock screen for example. Don't know about you, but considering some of the info I keep on my tablet. A lock screen is pretty important.

I've not actually tried it on mine but the online help does say that you can set up a PIN which needs to be input each time you wake it up. It also has the option to set up accounts for different family members including ones with restricted access for kids. I'm pretty sure that isn't included in standard ICS and could be a useful feature for some.

Argos got 8gb for £99.99 but 16gb is £159.99:-(

i would personally go for the hd+ at john lewis for 149 mega deal

Looks like a good deal - personally will wait for the new Google Nexus tablet rumoured to arrive in a few months time Thanks to the OP though!

I can't see any reason why you'd buy a Kindle tablet now, you can install the Kindle app on these Nooks, and you have access to more apps via the Play Store.

Did you really just copy and paste that?

I don't think this one has GPS?

I bought the 9 inch Nook HD+ and for the price I'm very happy with it as don't need a camera or GPS etc. The 9 inch screen is superb.

In terms of using custom firmware like Cyanogenmod, it does make the tablet much slicker. As with all manufacturer modified Androids, their modifications and software that run in the background makes it slightly less "snappy".

Nook's own software for arranging books, magazines etc. is really well done so always difficult to advise using custom firmware if you're happy with how the original Nook works. Barnes and Noble probably avoid paying UK tax like Amazon and Google but they've not been named yet so my money is going to Barnes and Noble for the time being!!

I was quite pleased when I saw the Nook email this morning. The lower pricing is an improvement, and its colour and has the full Google Play Store.

seems good

looking for decent tablet, how does this compare with anol anova 2 posted here and sumvion voyerger from ebuyer? can you watch on demand channels on this, bbc iplayer , itv etc. anyone know if you can put xbmc player on this,

Only the 8gb is the same price. The 16gb is £159.99 in argos.

I see that this has playstore but aren't most of the playstore apps for android?

I'd second the HD+ experience. It's a lovely tablet for the price and has a crisp resolution. The nooks do have access to the play store but the nook plating to android is not exactly a joy. You will want something else on there.

Actually it is any day now alledgedly Some time "early July" thenextweb.com/goo…cs/

Now these tabs are being discontinued - how cheap do you think they can go? If nook uk can reduce prices then what about stocks at john lewis, argos & currys. Quite fancy the 9" but £149 feels too expensive.

Great find thanks, ordered for my sisters birthday she'll be delighted!

Looks very good. Hot.

Does anyone if the Humble Bundle ebooks will work on Nook devices?

Thanks.

Erm, yes it is needed, as the stock Nook ROM is a right load of rubbish.

Like the name, looks like a good tab at under £100

Please explain why?

If you install nova launcher then the average user would not notice the difference between the nook and the nexus 7?
