North Bridge (Newkie Broon look-a-like) Brown Ale 500ml - £1.15 in Aldi

Found 22nd Mar
First time I've noticed this in Aldi, although not somewhere I visit that often.
I thought it was the 'real stuff' at first and thought they had dropped the price!

'A deliciously rich and malty aroma with a hint of apple fruit and a sweet chocolate caramel taste. Try it with our Steak and Ale Pie recipe.

Brand:
Harper's Brewing Co
Size / Weight:
500 ml'

I haven't tried it yet.

Just the standard price isn't it? They also have a few 'craft' beers for 99p a bottle
It cant be a hot deal if its sold at normal or rrp.

This is just an advert for Aldi beer.

Do you get a kick back?
Usual price, yes. But that doesn’t stop it being good value. I always get excited about ale for about a quid a bottle. Enjoy your beer, OP 🏻

Rubbish, absolute rubbish and something that gets posted a lot.

New to myself and no doubt others.
£1.15 for a 500ml bottle is cheap and yes, you do get some deals pre-£1.
I've never seen it posted anywhere, so an alert rather than an 'ad'.
Can't be worse than Newcastle brown ale as it is a chemical brew. Not real ale so this one has to be better

Newcastle Brown ale suffered badly after the site closure!
It's never been the same and nowhere near as good.
Iconic? Yes.
Better ales? Definitely.
Although, in my view, Guinness is often beaten now too.
Aldi sell Newcastle brown ale for £1.25 so a bit pointless buying this version to save 10p.

That's why I thought they'd just reduced the price.
Pointless?
Depends if this is a better 'copy'.
Not necessarily just saving 10p. If it's better, then it's worth at least 10p more.

But, 'North Bridge' ploy on Tyne Bridge gave a chuckle.

Well said.
A hopeless knock-off at it's normal price. What a brilliant deal (NOT!).

It tastes like a sloppy attempt at copying Newcastle Brown.

Thanks and at least an opinion from someone that has actually tasted it.
It is an okay drink , nice to cook some beef in as well. The ave price for the last year was 1.19 so 4p saving. However Newcastle Brown is £1.25 in Lidl, Asda and Morrisions and thats a 550ml bottle.

Try Guinness foreign special. It is a 330 ml bottle. 7.2%. I paid 89p at B&M a few years ago! It is twice the price in sainsburys.
No, it's not the same stuff. The original "Newcastle Brown" is brewed in the Netherlands, by Heineken.
This copy is Brewed in England by "Harpers" (read Marstons).
