In all fairness though it puts people off wearing this as a mountain/hiking/outdoor brand when people wear these with grey cotton trackies with their unmentionables poking out for all to see, baseball cap and Nike air max - I don’t understand the logic? Are they trying to say that underneath it all they secretly are an outdoors adventurer but are just choosing not to show all of the gear? don’t think so. Looking forward to the defensive statements but we all know it’s true...

The North Face has become streetwear for a long time now and the brand has done it to them selves. I honestly never knew anything about the brand until they started to collab with Supreme and now they are in every trainer shop. It doesn't really discourage me to buy it because its more fashionable now rather than just being seen Dad clothes.

But why a brand associated with mountain pursuits? Why has berghaus for example not taken off in the same way - it’s a shame brands can’t stay loyal to their fundamental values instead of chasing the pound around every street corner.

That’s the “normal” evolution of any brand. If a brand fails to break the streetwear milestone, it simply means the brand is not popular enough. ALL popular brands eventually evolve into streetwear, and that makes them even more popular, more expensive and makes them more money. Examples are Timberland (look how the iconic 6 inch has become a fashion item), Ugg, Caterpillar, Luis Vuitton, Adidas (supposed to be sportswear, but now streetwear), Nike, etc ...
So hating TNF because it has become streetwear is just backward thinking, those brands that have not become streetwear actually really want to be, but are just not popular enough, any reasonable executive with a half-brain at those brands will tell you if the brands morphs into everyday-wear, it’s an achievement...

I don’t have s problem with any individual or groups wearing the stuff...but can people not see how ridiculous it looks wearing it miss-matched? The only example I’d agree with off your list is timberland...apart from that no.
