Scotch Beef Roasting Joint
Expertly dry aged & matured for tenderness

NHI - North Highland Initiative

Dry-aged on the bone for 14 days then matured for a further 7 days for an extra rich flavour. This joint has been hand-sourced from the farmers and crofters of the North Highlands.

The Provenance.

North Highland Scotch Beef is sourced from herds of cattle born and reared on family farms and crofts within 150 miles of the Castle of Mey, situated in Caithness. Through the close relationship we have with these producers, each cut can be easily traced back to the farm of origin.

The Flavour.
Each cut is dry-aged on the bone for a minimum of 14 days, before being matured for another 7 days. This process concentrates the unique flavour, and enhances the tenderness of the meat.

Fantastic, Cheers OP. Off to a works do where annoyingly, a lot of them are now flying/enforcing the Vegan flag.

This is me and my family's insurance policy.

Don't expect them to deliver any time soon though.

P.S.:

Q: How can you tell if someone is a vegan?

A: They'll tell you.

Great deal. I doubt there will be any in store in my local though.
Ordered from Newcastle, plus first order code of money off 60 quid spend equals cheap meat for the freezer. Plus I like to make my own jerky at home with the Mrs

It’s funny because I’ve never had a Vegan go on about being Vegan to me, yet I’ve seen and heard countless Meat Eaters tell this ‘joke’ and complain about Vegans.

Read the label. Typical marketing ploy, discount in your face actual price hiding at the bottom.
Bought a rib roast instead as couldn't fine any.

I think someone told Aldi everyone in our area is vegan... The amount of swede/potatoes/Brussels going to waste is amazing.

It’s not in store ...assistants tried to help...but concluded its only online... couldn’t match price in store... so scanning between 20 to 24 in store at Milton Keynes
I wonder if William Hill are running a book on what the substitutions will be!
Wild goose chase if ever I saw one
Most William Hill shops have closed down ... have to check their odds on line !
any idea if it is a religious slaughter eu code or not??
Managed to order online

That's because you don't know any vegans
Anyone had one delivered yet?

It’s £3.50 per kilo, I’ve added 1 to my basket and it’s charging me £5.78 per joint of beef... I know it says reduced to £3.50, but that’s not showing here.
The piece of beef weighs between 1.4 to 1.65 kg so at 3.50 per kg ... I would think that’s about right
1.4 x 3.50 = 4:90
1.65. 3.50 = 5:77
when I looked in store some pieces were 1.7 kg so it depends how much the joint weighs
i have ordered a couple to collect on Tuesday...I’m not banking on them being available to click and collect...let you all know...wild and goose i

Ordered one for the fridge and one for the freezer, had both substituted for different beef joints, at same price so winner for me.

Yeah, me similar. Substitutes are over twice the price but I don't think Sainsbury's will honour the original price so I guess I'll refuse the subs when the delivery comes.
I've been charged the extra for the substitutes but I've spoken to live chat and they say (as per their terms and conditions) that I'll get a voucher for the value of the extra off my next shop. We occasionally shop at sainsburys anyway so i dont think that's a bad deal!
It's their standard thing, if you get a sub and it's more, you pay the full price then within 24hrs you get a coupon in your reward wallet thing.
Not reduced to £3.50 a kilo at my Sainbury's (Beeston, Nottingham; had a member of staff 'price check' two joints marked at £21, still came up at £21 so not available at £5.25 as posted!

Substitutes have just been delivered - ended up with a bigger joint and the driver confirmed also that we will get the coupon 😁😁
Got a 21day matured Welsh Beef Brisket at £8Kg delivered instead. £13.89. Brisket is not something I'd normally buy but can put in slow cooker instead of roasting.
Question - do they reduce the price of this by 75%, making it £2 a kg or just charge the £5.78.
I've also had 3 of the cheap gammon/hams substitutions delivered but quite a bit smaller than the Jolly Hog Black Treacle ones at 1.1kg £3.12. Substitutions were JS Chestnut smoked Sweetcure at I think £9 a Kg, £8.15 to £8.62. Again what do they do here with voucher?

They are both still available to order for me online which seems a trifle strange,

Would have obviously preferred the better cuts ordered. Guess I have to wait & see what they charged me, unless someone knows - 75% off would obviously have been preferable!
I'm very dissapionted.

Sainsbury's have substituted a very inferior product, a silverside joint, while taking more than double the price.

Even if they do eventually supply a voucher for the difference, they are still keeping my cash!

The substitute is "21 Day Matured Slow Beef Roast", which according to their instructions takes twice as long to cook. The reviews on sainsbury's website suggest very slow cooking, more like three times as long, to make it edible.

They have replaced £14 per kilo meat with £8 per kilo meat, and kept £4.5 per kilo cash!

I went into my local and there was 1 left. It scanned at £25 I spoke to the assistant and showed them the online price. She tried to fob me off that the promo starts tomorrow. I shower her it was available for delivery today. She went off for a good 10 mins and then came back with a reduced sticker and apologised.
Great joint of beef for next to nothing
I drove 30 minutes there to pick up my order, to be told it had been cancelled with no email saying it had. I won't be using them again
Mines being subbed, for the 21 Day Matured Slow Beef Roast. I’m ok with that. Ordered the gammon too but wasn’t available and neither were any suitable subs.

I received 2 substitute joints yesterday, one was marked up for £16 and one £13. Haven’t received the substitute voucher as of yet...
