Ye they do, I have a pair of these and they are really comfy

i've been looking for some road bike shoes and cleats/clips (new pedals). however, as i'm sure you can tell, i have no idea which to get/where to start looking. how do i know my preference if i've never used them before?
any help would be massively appreciated.

im not getting it as the code is broke

I am just about to purchase my first pair of road shoes so was excited to see this deal then noticed these are MTB, so maybe not the best option for a road bike.

It doesn't matter. You can use MTB spd shoes on your road bike. I do and alot of beginners do too because they are generally easier to clip in and out of when compared to three point road cleats. Plus MTB shoes come with more grip on the sole of the shoe so you'll find walking around in the shoes much easier.
However, the cleat surface is much smaller than the road alternative, so on long rides (40 miles for example) you may find it a little uncomfortable. The road cleats would spread the weight better across the ball of your foot.
I've only used spd cleats on my road bike and have done long rides of nearly 100 miles and not really had any problems, so it's up to you. You'll get used to clipping in/out of either type either way.
Hope that helps some.

These shoes are likely to keep your feet dryer in winter so for £15 more if you ride year round, they may be a better bet, waterproof socks are usually £25-30
To ride in winter I find warm dry feet is the only way

Not sure with northwave, my brother got a pair of the scorpius and he said they Fit true to size, I tend to wear a slightly bigger boot in winter to allow for movement of the toes and thicker socks. So I'd recommend at least the size up

Got 44 and my big toes are touching the top of the shoe, feels quite uncomfortable. Do they need to be worn in?

I take a size 10 in trainers, shoes etc and got size 44 and they fit perfectly.
