this will grind your machine to a halt

While this may be a good price, I have never had to pay for security software. There are free versions which will keep you protected well enough. Not voted either way.

whats so bad about norton, i have never had a problem with it.:)

from what i can see

this is over-priced.

BY £23.99p

Once again Nort is being frozen out through outdated opinions from the nubz in this place.

overpriced by around £1000 Norton is so slow and useless the amount of viruses this 'virus protection' program lets through is aweful. why anyone would but this is beyond me

well the guys that think its ok even though they might not pay for it vote it hot as i dont wana be shot down on my first post. thanks guys.

Personally, I wouldn't pay for any software. But if you offered me money to have Norton, I'd knock it back. Whatever version it happened to be.

The first thing most people do when buying a new computer is take norton off of it straight away.Crock of ****.:-D:p

Just forget about it and keep posting.... its not personal

also. if you think about it.

Viruses vs Norton. (viruses will put less load on your CPU & MEM)

rather have viruses lol

Awful software that slows my computer down. You can get better pieces of kit for free.

I do and it's the first thing we remove from all computers we get in. Spent most of Xmas eve trying to help a friend over the phone who bought a new laptop for his daughter and wanted it working on Xmas day. After 6 hours I was almost at the point of giving up until he mentioned the Norton word. Talked him through removing it and as if by magic everything worked perfectly! He now uses FREE and far far better security software.

And those that say the 2010 version is better, no it isn't. I've tested it and it nags so much before do anything that it would drive the average person insane. It's not like you even get good support from them for the money you pay.

Why do you think Norton pay so much money to so many computer manufacturers to put it on their new computers? Because nobody would buy it otherwise if they did some research.

No confidence in the product whatsoever. It would have to be considerably cheap i.e. £5 to even remotely tempt me. In Norton we don't trust....

I own an IT Security company and our PROFESSIONAL opinion is that Norton is best avoided.

Whats the best free protection you guys would recommend for my netbook - i only use it for online shopping, ebay and here more or less.

Kaspersky is £18 for 3 users for the year at PC World

Norton 2010 isn't that bad! i work for PCW and i got given it free.. yeah its good... but kaspersky all the way..

the first thing the Tech Guys / simular IT guys i know remove is actually AVG free version.. it likes to tell you about the viruses attacking your PC but at the end of the day.. they do want you to upgrade... simple business there..

my PCW store also has some other cracking deals.. i'll get posting when i get the time

Yeah AVG has gone a crap now days, But on a test review only about a month ago anti-vir came out on top.

One other i use is avast, plus with Malwarebytes used one a week you cant go wrong O and did i say they were FREE :whistling:

Not a lover of Nortons.

if you use a free security package you deserve everything that will happen to your pc. they're free because they're rubbish or of limited function.
anyone who has slated norton for years(including me), you really need to test nis 2010 before passing judgement. if you don't then you look pretty stupid. if you've tried it and still didn't like it, that's fair enough. i had to try it to be convinced and was amazed at how light it runs. i've also put in on an old pentium 3 i have that was grinding to a halt with avg and now it's never been quicker. kaspersky? don't make me laugh, nearly as bad as panda, and yes, i've tried both.

give nis 2010 a go, you will be impressed. failing that, avast is good also. personally, i now use nis 2010 and malwarebytes, which is fantastic, and i never have any problems.

You work in IT? and took 6 hours to fix a software fault, which you say was "fixed" by removing one application - LOL

There is nothing wrong with norton internet security 2010 at all, when installed correctly,
it does not slow your pc down (that was very old versions several years ago)

No it does not constantly "nag" you with pop ups and questions, it uses a database of trusted apps and processes, which removes the need to do this.

Norton tech support is very good, have you ever used it?

Don't take this guy's word and don't take mine, just read these links and see yourself......

Kaspersky 3 user internet security is free for Barclays online banking customers.

I also think that the 2010 product is good it is very light on system resource and does almost everything in the background so you wouldn't know its there. I have used Norton for a long time and I experienced the poor peformance previously but they massively improved the product in both 2009/2010. I think its a bargain for the price.

Good report but did you see second place AVIRA (anti-vir) i use and its FREE

I had the misfortune to use it a good few years ago when I was still a computer novice.

It was like checking into a hotel that you would never, ever, ever use again.

Nothing could ever convince me that I was wrong to stop using the product.

Its easy look at the meter -160 ish says it all to many have had bad results with norton, reputation means alot and norton has lost theres

I'm Bill Gates and I have no opinion on Norton whatsoever.

Bought this 2 weeks ago at the same price with 500 clubcard points extra on the deal, installed on 3 machines (after Kaspersky) and can see no difference in speed.

Dont Touch Norton. Pile Of *****. Use Avira Which Is Free Of Thier Website

I can highly recommend Avast (and many others will too).

Free, runs very light, customisable too...

If you can't see the difference between ANTI VIRUS and INTERNET SECURITY SUITE, then a trojan or a keylogger will probably do the trick far better than I could begin to explain, but the realisation won't happen overnight.

Yes, it will be very light.
Because it hasn't got the functionality of a full internet security suite.
If I take the bodywork off my car and remove all the interior fittings it will run a lot faster too, but I will get very cold and wet.

good price
why all this arguing, it is a good deal cheapest I have seen
it isn't for everyone thats it
