Download Microsoft Security Essentials. Far and above the best I've used, and its free...

Another vote here for MS security essentials, although Avast free is good too.
Can't believe people who pay for anti virus protection, as there is lots of good free alternatives.

Nearly as bad as the ipad deals.

I service pcs for a living and all the Pcs that have avg and ms essentials have deep hidden viruses. They are rubbish. Don't be fooled. Your probably a mac user if you think that.

Are you referring to the free AVG or the paid version? i currently have the full AVG paid version and i purchased tune up and one click maintenance at the same time.

I work from home so need to know my PC is secured that's why i purchased all of this, i know there are people out there that say you can get this and that for free but it would rather have peace of mind.

What would you recommend is the best Internet and anti virus protection?

I trust this man. Doesn't matter that he's just a random stranger on a shopping forum, he said he services PCs (probably reinstalled Windows on his grandma's computer once), so yes, what he says must be legit.

While I have used Norton Internet Security (or 360) on and off for over a decade now, and found it to be the best security suite i've used, I can't say I recommend it for this price, you should easily be able to pick up a copy for £15 or less if you shopped around.

That is a bad example, as that is only the antivirus, where this is the Security suite which includes the firewall and other security features.

I'm an IT Manager at present... I've moved far past the "service pcs for a living".
AVG (although it is plague for advertising) and MSE are perfectly fine for the average non-nerd.
If viruses happen, it's usually easy to fix with end-user training.
Paid for AV applications are more suited to the un-trainable and those of us that can get a free licence from work
I use Eset, mainly because I like ease of control with the included firewall.

I've had tons of viruses but nearly all from cleaning hdds from other PCs... although even the savvy sometimes get caught out!

Norton is more suited to the less computer literate user, In a good way.
Although it wouldn't ever be my first choice

Last years is on offer in my local Tesco at £7.50, store specific I guess but you never know if your local has old stock to clear too. I would recommend Norton 100%
