    Haters guna hate.
Anything Norton can do, a quality free programme can do just as well - or better.

Plus they won't **** up your settings or install unwanted software, or change your default search engine.

If you MUST use it, install carefully, and decline all the cr*p they offer (they get paid to do it, you don't need it).

don't know why cold, you all love free internet security but you might as well put your money in bobs bank rather than a proper one, free antivirus, you get nothing for free in this world...... def heat

eh, been using it for years, that's the only Norton software on my pc, in terms of your default search engine you get the same with browsers, just click once, sorted ...

I get asked if I wan't to install junk or change my homepage when I've downloaded AVG, AVAST ...

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole even at 99p. Stick with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Not random hate - that's for Fray Bentos Pies (mmmmm!). But a simple explanation of life's realities. Norton used to be great - but that was 10 years ago. Now it's not.

Stick to your etch-a-sketch - or use Google, if mummy will let you - virtually every independent study shows that the *quality* free programs are better. No-one's suggesting finding a random rubbish program.

Good try - but not a compelling argument in favour of Norton, is it?

I was laughing at the fact he mentioned Microsoft Security Essentials.

And yet most of those quality free programs also offer their own paid and better flavours.

If all the free offerings from these vendors did the job, they would not make any money.

All the basic stuff (like this Norton version) are free; they then hope you'll 'upgrade' to a full service with knobs on (still cheaper than Norton). But for most people, the 'basic' free program is more than enough.

It's a successful business model, that savvy users can take advantage of.

And, as I pointed out, the free ones do as well as paid-for in comparisons

And idiots are gonna be idiotic; so what?

You have yet to offer one argument in favour of Norton ... why are you recommending it?
Norton is a bloated mess, use something else.

think your clever with your funny quotes, but your just a sado whos got caught up in the anti Norton talk.... hopefully someone will clean you and your free security out

BLAH BLAH BLAH, NORTON is this Norton is bad Norton uses to much system..... its today people and they wouldn't be in business if all that were true
Red hot deal, and excellent product

But likely to be a tesco store specific or limited deal

Norton rely on the fact that retailers like PC World selling to the masses, pre-install their software. Average users just use what is already there, or what they get recommended in the shop.

I'm sure you feel better after insulting me; but that's not exactly an argument in favour of Norton, is it?

Just maybe I know what I'm I'm talking about - you certainly don't, neither does the OP.

Facts. Ever heard of them? Go find some, or who's the real saddo around here?

fact is you started with the insults (Stick to your etch-a-sketch - or use Google, if mummy will let you)
people like you in your khaki shorts and socks and sandals are always trying to overpower people with your "I'll never change my mind" Attitude, sometimes you have to investigate if what your saying is true or are you just repeating the same stuff over and over again.... bored with you now you no life sado

I think I am the only person who's never had an issue with Norton (touchwood) I've had it on all my pcs/laptops and put on my families - its always done as its supposed to, protected from rubbish on the net.

Your right, it says what it does on the box and does it, a simple FACT that some people that some Obsessed Haters refuse to accept

If you had read the thread, you'd see that no-one ever denied that.

It's just silly to pay for something when as good is available free.

Plus it does MORE than it says on the box - it tries to download naff software (they increase their profits by selling the opportunity to other companies looking for gullible idiots).

    Do TRY to keep up

Again, if you read the thread, it was ME suggesting people check out comparison sites - I'm always happy to change when something better comes along - and YOU who has a "I'll never change my mind" attitude. Nice of you to suggest I investigate, when you obviously haven't, because if you had, you'd stop using Norton.

And, in case you hadn't noticed, not ONE person defending Norton has said a single thing in favour of paying for that rather than downloading better for free. Not ONE of you. Who's the saddo .... well, that must be you!

Who said I was recommending it, I posted this for all the people that use it, myself and my family have used it for many years and have had no problem with it.

It terms of you giving advice to people, try not to argue and insult everyone in the thread.

    U seem mad.

I wouldn't say that - just more knowledgable than you! Obviously.

I'm only insulting those that deserve it - read and learn.

Who are you to talk - look at your very first post; obviously looking for trouble, then whinge when you get it.

Mad? and your evidence? As lacking as your evidence for norton. Idiot.

Just because someone makes a good case for your idiocy is not enough for a mental health diagnosis - but I'm guessing you're the expert on that.

Obviously Quadrille thinks that calling people names and insulting them is a good argument for not buying Norton, there is no content to his argument and I wonder if he got made redundant by them from he's cleaning job and wages a vengeful war against them on HUKD trying to ensure that the evil that is Norton is eradicated from existence

Norton when they first started were the Bees Knees then they went absolutely bad now they are going back up and are probably going to get into the top three fairly soon, they are being punished for past indiscretions by a lot of people that have been told by someone who has heard it from someone who heard it from someone who knows next to bogger all about computers

This IS better than 99% of freebee software!

    This is a good deal.

    Heated!

well said, great analysis, unbiased and unaffected by personal opinion

OK deal, wouldn't use with Windows 7/8 as Defender is surprisingly good but with XP - yeah why not especially if someone in your family is a little less knowledgeable on the 'net.

Well, your not going to find this cheaper elsewhere right now, so its a hot deal.

Wish all the moaners would stop moaning. Its a good deal, end of.
