Booking balcony staterooms and drinks packages usually adds large premiums to the price of cruises. But this 7-night Mediterranean sailing from Iglu Cruise includes both, plus flights and transfers, for £599 per person. We found other websites charging up to £255 more without the drinks package.

What’s included

Flights to Barcelona with a 20kg checked luggage allowance
Return transfers
A 7-night cruise aboard Norwegian Epic in a Balcony Stateroom
Full board, covering daily breakfast, lunch and dinner
Ultimate Beverage Package (worth US$54 per person, per day), including soft drinks, beer, spirits, cocktails and wine by the glass
When
Fly from London Gatwick on 1, 8, 15 or 22 November. Visit the Iglu Cruise website for more information.

Itinerary
Norwegian Epic sails from Barcelona and calls in at Naples, Civitavecchia (the starting point of excursions to Rome), Livorno (for excursions to Florence or Pisa), Cannes and Palma de Mallorca. It then heads back to Barcelona for the flight back to the UK.

The ship docks in most ports between 6-8am and sets sail around 6-7pm, giving time to discover each city. Shuttles to the city centres are usually available from the ports for a small fee. You can also pre-book payable shore excursions. Highlights includes a trip to Sorrento (from Naples), a tour of Florence and Pisa (from Livorno), and a Monte Carlo excursion (from Cannes).

Life on board
Norwegian Epic's lively cruising experience, which is targeted towards young couples and families, is reflected by the choice of entertainment venues, dining options and activities on board. CruiseCritic.co.uk praises the ship’s innovative approach to cruising. The onboard ice bar was the first at sea, and it was the first ship to bring in solo Studio cabins for single travellers.

There are over 20 dining options (supplements may apply) and guests can dine wherever and with whomever they choose. Entertainment options include dance show "Burn the Floor" and hit musicals like "Priscilla Queen of the Desert". Also on board are a fitness centre, a spa, a cigar lounge, an aqua park and a casino.

The Balcony Staterooms have queen-sized beds, a seating area and floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening to private balconies.

Other options

If you want to discover Barcelona, Iglu Cruise can add a 3-night pre-cruise stay at the Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel from £99 per person, including transfers
Solo travellers can book the cruise for £549, but only receive a soft-drinks package
