Black Friday has changed from Black Friday Day to Black Friday Week and now to Black Friday fortnight.

I'm looking forward to Black Friday month next year.

The same apart from the fact that Amazon includes free delivery, while you'll have to collect from Argos.

She's alright, isn't she.

Already have a dot, wanting an echo plus. Any thoughts on whether it will be reduced between now and Xmas?

Do you think it will also be in Amazon black Friday deals

Not sure, but I'm sure there was an Amazon deal in July 2017 where 3x Echo Dots were £49.99 each minus £65 = £84.97 for three = £28.32 each. Please resist the 'time machine' remarks , I've detailed the above just to help people see where this deal fits with previous Amazon Dot deals.

If it is going to be reduced it'll happen on Black Friday. The standard Echo and dot are getting reduced, so there's a decent chance the Plus will as well.

If you've upgraded to this from the older Echo, would you say this newer Echo is on Par or marginally better for its sound quality?

How are the speakers on the dot? Fancy getting one for music and podcasts for when I'm in the kitchen thanks!

I'm undecided on whether to get an Echo Dot or a Home Mini, what are the benefits/drawbacks of each one?

Can I control Spotify on my PC with either one?

To my ear the dot is fine for listening to the radio etc, then it can be connected to "proper" speakers if you want better sound quality

Cack.

I'll be more constructive. I find the dot adequate to use for Alexa voice commands and as an alarm clock, but listening to any media on it isn't great. It works, but there is absolutely no depth to the sound. That's not what it's for though. Use the line out to connect to a decent set of speakers (which a lot of people may have lying around) and it's briliant.

Thanks, just get a bit bored of the radio at the weekends and haven't got round to looking for a really good speaker. Also with having Prime thought this might become handy for a bit of music and to listen to podcasts when cleaning/washing up, especially for the reduced price

What is the difference between an echo and google home ain’t got a clue which is the best to go for?

Echo is many things, but 'powerful immersive room filling audio' it is not! Tinny lightweight audio might just about cover it. I did think I might be able to replace my Sonos 1s with the new Echos, but they're not even close.

Add the google skill to alexa. Sorted.

Has anyone got a 2nd gen Echo as a living room speaker? I’m wondering if it’s powerful/good enough quality?

Just reading through this myself cnet.com/new…er/ (after trying to find a review like this for the last half an hour), doesn't seem they make very good speakers, or even good speakers if sound is what you're mainly after (as has been commented on this thread tbf) which is a shame.
