Firstly, thanks to anon for the heads up on this!

I've been told that this laptop is due to be dropped in price tomorrow to £479, which is a great price for the specs, BUT, there's an additional £40 off code going live on Thursday which should drop the price of this laptop to an incredible £439!8)

The code (Live Thursday) is 40LAPTOP

Worth noting also is that the CPU is a i5-8250U.
I have this. Ram easy to upgrade. There's am extra slot. Just slip in another 4GB.

Back cover slightly hard to take off but end to end took me just 15 mins to add more ram.

Also there's a SATA and M2 slot, so you can possibly add another SSD hard drive if you want at the same time, to make it 512GB or more.
Strange how they would decide to go with 4GB of RAM on a laptop like this.

Yes it`s a good deal.

I would not buy another laptop unless it had a 250gb SSD minimum.
The Intel core i5 is the latest 8th gen processor.

If you can get it for the £439 as posted, it`s a good deal.
After a year when the warranty`s up, if you feel you want to double the RAM, then do so.
You`ll probably find you won`t need to.

My Dell is only 18 month old and I`m not buying at the moment.
If it was older then I would go for this deal in silver.

looks like a great price for the spec although they're a bit stingy with the RAM, I'd go for it myself but looking for a 15.6 inch screen
Not live till Thursday so not a deal , a heads up - surely should be moved to Misc ?

Not live yet, you have to wait until Thursday
Nice price OP, heat added.

RAM is a bit low for the other specs; can the memory be increased, or is it soldered to the board?

Cheers

cracking deal
Can the ram be upgraded?

Is this HD or Full HD? 1024 x736 or 1920×1080. Either I am blind or this is not specified in the spec.

Can the ram be upgraded?

I believe that it can - up to 16gb (max 8gb x2), 2 memory slots.

h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg…573

Edit: See page 7 for memory supported and page 49 for upgrade procedure.

RAM upgrade is in Chapter 6 - Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider parts:
Components described in this chapter should only be accessed by an authorized service provider. Accessing these parts can damage the computer or void the warranty.

Thanks, then other than the ram, ideally should be 8gb minimum, then this is a good deal.
Superb deal
If it was a Chromebook with this spec and touchscreen , I would have bought.
This would have been perfect if it had 8gb Ram

How much extra to bump up the ram?
Not a bad price for a quad core, FHD screen and an SSD.
Looks like the SSD should be an m2
3% at Quidco.
Cold. It's HP. Give it 5 mins before it slows down and you notice the garbage quality of their manufacturing.

Another 4GB of RAM will do most people solid, slap another stick in when there is a deal going.

Probably comes with 2x2, I'm guessing based on norms

It's one 2400MHz 4GB module. 2GB DDR4 modules are being phased out of production gradually these days. Even OEM buyers don't much want them any more. Adding a second 4GB module here gives you the bonus of dual channel as well, it's a no brainer.
Good deal but voting cold due to 4GB memory.. although it can be upgraded, its not easy for everybody to do(plus the warranty issue if something goes wrong when you are adding memory)
ITechguy5 m ago

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7288595 is this the same computer?

No. Slower processor, worse screen and probably a lot of other things.

Just throw it on the pile with the Dell laptops
8gb ram and I would have jumped. My search for my perfect laptop continues!
I got a dell latitude with 4gb ram and an i3 processor from the local pawn shop for £40, slight cosmetic damage to the case but runs great

Its a good deal. I'd buy the extra 4gb and install it irrespective of the warranty as I have lots of browser windows and applications open most of the time. It makes a big difference to me. The fact that it has the latest 8250 processor is a big bonus.

What is odd is that other suplliers, ie lenovo recognise that changes to upgradable things like ram and hard drive dont affect the warranty.
