Steal. Both of them.

Isn't that illegal?

cossy316 m ago

Forget about Kodi. Game over at the moment.

In what sense? Kodi is going nowhere and there are as many add-ons as ever, and I speak as we have 3 in our house, all working as good as day 1 so long as you keep everything up to date.

It can do as much or as little as you want.

Think they only do it with voice remote now. Could stand corrected though?

Not sure it's worth it anymore. Most streams don't work anyway.

Do you have any proof ?

Hot but they do the Firestick deal every year surely nearly everyone must have one by now.

I've got the first gen Chromecast, can anyone tell me the difference and whether it's worth the upgrade please

I have a 2nd Gen Chromecast. The newer one has 3 WiFi antennas Vs the 1 on the original. So it has a stronger connection compared to the older one. The newer one has 5Ghz WiFi but the maximum resolution is still 1080p, unless you go for the Chromecast Ultra which does 4K UHD.

The Firestick, you can’t install anything on the Chromecast it simply mirrors the device you are using to your Tv. Plus if you mean ‘KODI’ as in the Add On’s for free streaming, no point like people say. If you mean ‘KODI’ as a media player then yes go for it.

Chromecast audio going in as well?

I also wonder if Amazon will price match when Tesco reduce their price

Any deals on the Chromecast ultra?

It's a shame you can't chromecast using iPhones - for example when watching movies on apps such as showbox

Its an incremental update so not worth it for most.
I appreciate the 2nd version as I use it at multiple locations and you don't need to reset it to connect to a new network each time.
Was going to sell the mark one but it gets deals once or twice a year worth £5 each so cheaper to keep it.

If you have a Chromecast is there any point in having a firestick? I'd be looking to use dodgy apk's like cartoon hd, showbox and mobdro. Do those apps work ok on a firestick and how is the remote for navigating such apps. Obviously with a Chromecast I have to have those apps on my phone so they are taking up space and using battery.

Any opinions? Thanks!

I got a new Chromecast then found my First Gen in my old PC bits box covered in dust.
New one is in Living Room and 1st Gen in Kids room.
Dont know why but it gets a signal better round walls than the new one. 5G is apparently crap with walls so tried new one on 3G as well. Old one won so went further away.

If old ones working, experience says leave it as is.

Any deals on the Chromecast ultra?

Ultra is duff. Expensive. Needs to be plugged into mains. Buffers when streaming 4K despite 70mbs Wi-fi - not fit for purpose

Great deal OP. Heat added.

I've been thinking of getting a Firestick for a month now.

Kodi: What's happened? It was working great for me last night. Not tried it today.

Showbox and other streaming apps don't work well on the Fire Stick unless you also have a wireless mouse connected, since the apps don't let you navigate properly with the remote. Mobdro runs way better on the stick than through Chromecast though, as technically the Chromecast support is only in beta and they say will eventually be a paid add-on.

Some major takedowns last night. Your add ons might work now but won’t for much longer. That ship has sailed, too mainstream now.

KODI was fine for me using Covenant last night as someone else said, just needs to be kept updated.

There's a mouse app you can install on the fire stick itself to navigate 3rd party apps. Maybe not ideal but does the job.

I'm currently watching one of many 4k streams on kodi. I watched walking dead in 1080p earlier. You just need too have the right working add ons.
