Bit of a con these given Now TV only broadcasts in HD and in fact most content is 720p. Zero 4K content. help.nowtv.com/art…ice
I pay for the boost it gives you 1080p which runs great . The £3 also gives you a 3rd device to watch at the same time .
So myself, brother and dad pay just over £7 each for all sports in full HD

I was thinking the same not sure what the point is of this. Maybe they are planning 4k content in the future
They have recently added Now Tv Boost which means sports, movies and entertainment will mostly be in 1080p instead of 720p. But it costs an extra £3 a month which is bonkers
Wasn't this £14.99 earlier in the year?
No con but the post title and info needs care not to confuse people - this happens on every NowTv thread

NowTv is 720p or for £3 pm more HD
Other services might be 4K

People still getting upset by the different price levels. Netflix is also £3 more for HD from the £6 SD base price - get over it!

What other services can you get on these that are 4k, is a Netflix app available on them?
Can you put kodi on this?

Sounds like you're paying about 22 quid a month. I can see NOW TV sports passes at currys for 25 quid - presumably for standard 720p. How/where do you get yours ?

Got the £20 a month black friday deal for 6 months .
Plus £3 add on .
So £23 between 3 of us and 1080p
Is it as good as Morecambe and Wise on the Finlandia?

£25 a month is Currys standard price for a month of Sports, they are however doing a 3 month pass with a HD stick as £49.99 as a Black Friday deal (£16.66) you can effectively reduced this to under £15 if you sell the HD stick to Cex or on Ebay.

If you need to stream Nowtv you're better off spending an extra £5 and getting a Roku 4K stick.
The picture on the thread is not the 4k box. It's actually the one I have with the TV tuner which is a better box if you ask me if you don't need 4k and a voice remote. Pain in the rear keep changing inputs when you want to switch between normal TV and Now TV with the new pink and black box. Why oh why have they removed the TV tuner in the new one. Daft!

Can you put kodi on this?

Probably not. Most of them (sky/Roku rebrand boxes) are locked down tight. Also be aware, no Amazon prime. Kodi was once able to be side/developer loaded but that was removed years ago. Also these boxes have adware/tracking baked in!
As for it delivering more stream quality than their service can handle, other services like Netflix/iPlayer/YouTube should be able to take advantage.

Thanks. I did notice that but like the black Friday 20 pound for 6 months offer it probably won't be around in 2 months when my sky subscription ends. Seems like good offers are around intermittently though if you're willing to bite the bullet and drop the lead weight of the the satellite subscription ..

The base price is for 720p. There is a boost pass mentioned in lots of places for HD (1080p). You can get it under Your Account when you log in. 4K is for other services (not NowTV) but that box doesnt look like the 4K one to me

What do I get with NOW TV Boost?
  • Full HD: Watch all the Sky Sports channels, plus selected shows and movies, in 1080p video quality instead of the usual 720p.
  • Smoother sporting action: Two Sky Sports channels – Main Event and Premier League – are available at 50 frames per second (except on LG TV).
  • Awesome audio: Got a surround sound speaker system or soundbar? Boost lets you enjoy a fully immersive audio experience with Dolby Digital 5.1.
  • An extra stream: Another handy benefit is that you get to stream on 3 devices at the same time. Perfect for families that can’t agree on what to watch

You’ll need any of these devices to enjoy all the features of NOW TV Boost:

  • NOW TV Smart Stick
  • Any NOW TV Box except the white box
  • Roku Express or Roku Streaming Stick
  • A supported Samsung TV
  • PS4
  • LG Web OS TV (50fps not currently available).

But as I said no Now TV 4K so a con in my book
I think netfilx is in 4k via this box ,I signed for up the boost trial people have mentioned looks like they have copied the Netflix pricing model I'm keeping the boost its a good well overdue improvement in picture quality ,before I wouldn't even subscribe too movies on a 65 inch TV 720p looks ropey but now it's decent . 4 k would be better can't see that happening tho anytime soon oh and the 5.1 sound upgrade is great I'm getting Dolby digital plus .

I didn't say there was !
I watch on a ipad pro and PS4 pro , happy with 1080p for the price as we split between 3 .
It's cheap as chips

It won't be, but you can start the pass (or passes if you get more than one) when ever you like. So buying now and using later is an option, and if end up sticking with your Sky subscription you will be able to flog it (or them) on Ebay for a profit after the Black Friday deals are over. I've purchased several of the one month version for use next year.

I logged in and scrolled to the bottom of the passes & vouchers page and it does show that boost on there for me too.

I personally don't like this box (Nor Amazon, nor Apple) because they restrict other large broadcasters apps being on the service.
Google has only recently added Amazon Prime to their streaming hardware - I have no idea if the old stuff can add it.
It's the Kick-In-The-Face attitude towards the consumer I don't like. Even NVIDIA Shield are, tho it's a bit old, has great up-scaling features, but doesn't support NowTV.
Roku, is probably the best device you can get to cover all bases, and that makes it laughable as the Sky Box is a rebranded (and slimmed down) Roku.

People should keep in mind something else regrading these higher end boxes. HEVC (H.265) should work on this box and help with data usage/requirements if you have a slow connection (Assuming the streaming site supports HEVC). That's if your upgrading from a older streaming box. I have one old Roku box and two old NowTV boxes (Purchased for passes as they were discounted) that don't support the better streams, plus for me Netflix will stop working on the Roku box soon. Sadly no new Roku (UK) boxes have Ethernet so I haven't taken the plunge, so if these drop down to ~~cost of a subsription for 2-3 months then I might buy one.
