As noted elsewhere, you don't need to pay Sky for content. You do have to sign up with them, and you get a free months access to Sky film, which is surely worth having over Christmas, when you do so, but remember to cancel before the month is up or they will start charging your card for more months.

There is a very simple tutorial for installing the Plex network media player on these boxes, at THIS URL. I have done this myself in the last few days.

These look great..i bought one first time around, for a stocking filler.

The earlier post was for a different batch, now sold out. This post is to call attention to another batch about to be released. These are on Now TV's own site. Some of the earlier ones were on ShopTo.

Looks very interesting!

Does anybody know if it can be used with a DLNA server or simply to watch movies on a NAS shared folder without having to install an additional server and run an additional computer?

I think you want to investigate Plex to find that out. Seems like it does everything, but I haven't tried to use it yet.

How is this a good price, since this is what they cost direct from their website anyway?

It is a good price for what it is (and this is direct from their website). These are special editions, of course, but even the standard ones are essentially Rokus worth at least twice the price, certainly once you put Plex on them.

I suppose you would ban deals from the pound shops because they always cost a pound?

Do these only have HDMI connectors, or could they be used on older CRT tv's?

Looks like Now TV weetabix edition

Besides the HDMI and power sockets (power adapter and HDMI lead included) there is an "AV Out" socket. I haven't tried it, but it is a mini jack socket meant for use with a fairly common AV lead that comes out of the mini-jack into three leads, for composite video, left stereo, and right stereo, usually terminated with phono plugs. I got a lead like this supplied with a television once. You can often find composite video and stereo phono plug sockets on the backs of TVs, or use a SCART plug that has them (99 pence at the 99 Pence store, I saw some yesterday). The NOW TV box connects to your network via built in wireless only, so you do need wireless from your router.

As nice as they may be, I have to agree with paulj48.
Buy a white one with a Movie, Entertainment or Sports package....
And remember that once you have subscribed, you can access same content on your laptop, pc etc...

It's their usual price with some seasonal stickers , if you want to call that "special " , not very special really, the lego one will date very quickly . Not much of deal
Voted cold and it's current -8 rating seems to agree with me,

Yeah, that's the important thing.

There have been 46 hot votes so far. Obviously, there are an almost equal number of cold voters, but some people have found the post useful.
